Japanese has more word-like words, while Chinese only has syllables for words, which makes it softer and more.. round. To me, even though Chinese imho is beautiful, it sounds slightly more ridiculous than Japanese, while Japanese on the other hand sounds more harsh, and they have stupid sounds like "EEEEEEEH". ^^
