Before I got my RN, I was an LPN. Back in 2006, for months before I graduated, we had recruiters coming to our school EVERY WEEK if not more often, giving us luncheons, swag from their company, promising sign-on bonuses and good money. Hell, LPN's were being offered $5,000+ sign-on bonuses and RN's were being offered $10,000+! When I finally got my RN in January of this year, it took me 3 months to find an RN job, and that was with FIVE YEARS of nursing experience! Nursing shortage my ass!!!
I'm an international grad too from UST Manila. I actually inboxed you trying to get help in my Resume haha. Passed my NCLEX July '11 and I was offered to be in an RN Transition Program. Wala siyang sweldo (boo!) but sa Hospital naman duty so I guess it's okay narin diba? I was placed in DOU/Telemetry so pretty happy na kahit papaano meron. The program Residency is 12-weeks. They have another cohort next summer so baka interested ka Kuya. =)
I got accepted into a program that starts in January. In the past couple of weeks I have JUST become aware of the shortage of jobs for new grads. This terrifies me!
@klr301 Don't do it! The degree is useless. Way too many new grads. My class (2010) and the class before me are 80% unemployed. Do not waste your time and money.
