Thumbs up if u want the theme from 2:38-2:59 to be in the 50th aniversary of DoctorWho(except with Paul Mcgann, Christ Ecculion(cant say his name right), david Tennant and Matt Smith.)
I have been waiting all of these years to see how they will distort the fact that the Doctor has 12 reincarnations then when he is on his 13 life it is his last. My wait will soon be over now that Matt Smith is #11 so we have 2 more Doctors to go until we see how they squirm their way around the 13 lives and that is it.
@EEWW2006 To quote from "The Brain of Morbius" - The time lords have long known the secret of immortality. Also in the 5 doctors, President Borusa offered The Master a whole new set of regenerations. Thus its the high council which makes those rules, not genetic coding.
@EEWW2006 I am not certain where I read it, possibly The Gallifrey Chronicles by John Peel, It may have been sort ot mandated by Rassilon that Timelords may only regenerate 12 times. If I find the quote I'll get back to you.
they said that a timelord who fought on the frontline could regenerate 157 times rtdavis did that in sarah jane adventures so that they didn't have to stop unless they wanted to
@cvrmaniac Yes,but...that's rubbish. There's a good story in the Doctor being on his last life, you wouldn't want it thrown away with a line that makes no sense. RTD chucking a grenade back through the door behind him, that was. But there's no need to take it seriously at all.
This is just like the first episode with Christopher Eccleston ("Rose"), with the walking dummies, and their hands turned into guns, is just like the first episode with David Tennant! ("The Christmas Invasion") !!!
God I have missed this documentary. We recorded this in 1993, and *it* was what got me into Doctor Who as a child. I got into the show by seeing a documentary about it's anniversary, and the sad fact that it was all over by the time I was born. I'm so glad there was the 1996 movie and the new series in 2005!
yes that special is coming out on dvd with the unaired episode shada.

@GhostOfACPast Because its arbitary. The 12 regeneration limit was set by Rassilon so that no timelord could have immortality.
No Gallifrey, No Rassilon, thus no 13 lives limit
EEWW2006 6 months ago
@EEWW2006 I am not so sure about that because I think it is innate in their genetic coding and 13 is it with, or without, a Rassilon.
