NO!!!! THE RICH MUST RULE OVER US AND WE MUST BE THEIR SLAVES!! IT'S THE WILL OF GOD!!! STUPID LAZY PEOPLE WHO AREN'T SMART ENOUGH TO BE RICH MUST SIMPLY DIE!!! GOD AND JEEEE-ZUS HAVE ORDAINED IT!!
50% OF THEM WILL BE DX WITH: High blood pressure, serious heart conditions, diabetes.
This is the heart of the problem. 50% of all healthcare spending can be absolutely prevented. HTN, MIs and diabetes are unhealthy life style choices. Do to fast foods, excess fat and calorie intake, soda, smoking, alcohol and lack of exercise.
Why would anyone be forced to pay for someone's bad decisions and who would want the govt. to regulate that choice?
My thoughts are exactly the same as mmyer. I thought the video theoretically made sense, but I have many Canadian friends who do not like their system at all? Does anyone know what possible negatives this plan could bring? Or are we all just stupid for not thinking of this before??
The one underlying factor many miss is that while cutting down the administrative costs to health care will make it cheaper and that income will be less of a factor in receiving health care, cutting these costs does not equate to increased coverage; it spreads the currently existing coverage to those who might not otherwise get it. If we want to actually have more coverage, or if we want to others to have coverage without sacrificing our own, a single payer system will fall short of those needs.
We must keep our eye of the reality that brought our life expectancy far beyond that of our ancestors from centuries ago. That reality is the advance of scientific understanding in medicine, biology, chemistry, and the development of new medical technologies to treat injuries and diseases. To have more REAL health care, then we need to emphasize science like the Japanese do. Liberal Arts has been around for 1000's of years. Science is the only way we solve the problem of health care.
As for the American public, the reality that Obama is not up to the job seems to finally be setting-in; the poll numbers are now headed steadily south- is he already facing his Waterloo on this legislation?
Barack Obama will never say to your face what he actually plans to do. Everything's rolled-out in a Trojan horse. Theyll be no private insurance industry left after five years. Why should we give Government medical insurance to 15 million illegals?

They don't. In a CTV News Survey last year, 91% of Canadians said their health care system is superior to the United States. 90% of Canadians live within 50 miles of the United States border. If they wanted to, they could come here easily, why do 91% of them feel this is not a good idea?
I think the idea was to show that the 60% we already pay in taxes would stay the same. Of the other 40% we pay to the private health insurance industry if we replaced that amount with other taxes then it would be cheaper. We replace the 40% made up of premiums, copays, deductibles, and other out of pocket costs with taxes that are spread out among employees, employers, and the wealthy. CONTINUES NEXT POST
good video, but why doesn't that graph you made add up to 100%? it should if it explains where all of the taxes come from to pay for all of our healthcare costs.
CONTINUED FROM PRIOR REPLY The kicker is the taxes make up only 23.15% which is much less than that extra 40% we currently pay to the wasteful private industry. It costs less because nobody needs to profit with single payer. We actually use the funds to pay for care, not dividends and CEO salaries and bonuses. I think I got it right.
Great video! Very well thought out and I like how everything was broken down, mathmatically, to where anybody can understand where the money is coming from and how the system will give us all equal rights and choices.
This is a treasure trove of facts, thank you Single Payer HC for practically finishing my project :)

This is still the best idea for health care in the U.S. But do the numbers still hold, since this was made in 2008?

Every industrialized country in the world has it. Why don't we? Is the USA a 3rd world dictatorship or a democracy?
