  • 2:05 pushing down his invisible tremolo

  • great pedal just turn up ya tubes

  • They should also put up what amp and settings they're using,or,if they're plugged straight into a mixer.

  • Ordered one it's arriving this Wednesday!

What is the song/backtrack used in this video called?

  • billy gibbons called, he wants his beard back

  • omg its still up there

  • Van halen I mean

  • He even threw in a little can Valentine in there!

  • how loud can this pedal go"?

  • Which sounds better? This or the Pro Co Rat?

  • @electrickithara The Distortion + sounds better than the Rat. The Rat will remove any and all bass from your sound and is really only useful for lead sounds.

  • Hi guy, is this pedal good for Iron maiden sounds ? =)

  • @NeedOfConspiracy sure that it is ;) it has the clasic hard rock heavy metal sound

  • @NeedOfConspiracy The sleeve of Live After Death lists an MXR Distortion pedal among the gear. More recently I've spotted the Ibanez TS808 Tube Screamer in Adrian's rack. I have one and it's GORGEOUS! :D

  • fuck yeah you play fucking awesome

  • @jimdunlopusa These videos are quite misleading, since you are using mostly the amp's overdrive.

  • How can you make a demo of this pedal and not play any Husker Du? Moron...

  • what all this means..........

  • I get way too much unwanted distortion with this pedal on with my jcm800 and sg special, any suggestion?

  • @davidfregoli MXR Smart Gate. Although am yet to try the MXR Noise Clamp so give that a try.

  • @davidfregoli Just use it for solos, or roll back the gain on your amp maybe?

  • Who is this guy??? I love his style and his palm muted leads! All his demos are great! Anyone use the Distortion+ and how do you like it? Sound anything like the demo?

  • @guitarkis49 His name is Brian Kehoe

  • Almost sounds like a marshall tube amp. A 1974x can do it better.

  • How is this compared to the yellow DOD 250 preamp pedals? Anybody?

  • @utube9000 Sorry, I meant DOD 250 OVERDRIVE pedals.

  • That SG is killer

  • this is not what the pedal sounds like. i own one from the 80s, and this one fails in comparison

  • now i see why Jerry Garcia used this pedal

  • i have the same guitar he was using :)

  • Respond to this video... i've have to get that pedal

  • Kerry King's cousin works in Dunlop

  • can anybody tell me the background music!?!? please what song is that?? help!!!

  • he is a wizard!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • What's with all the crap shredding shit with this guy?

  • are there any mxr distortions good for older hard rock like Def Lepard? i need a good dist. pedal for that type of sound and this pedal doesnt exactly meet that

  • I fucking hate it when the bypass signal is already all shred-gnar.

Maybe I'm not trying to sound like Randy Rhoads.

  • 3 minutes to say it is germanium-loaded and 3 sound clips. He´s my hero.

  • when the video was over i cryed.

    T_T SOB.

  • distortion plus vs boss ds1?? wich one is better?

  • @kingmonster12 mxr is more rough when pushed up to the top

  • @kingmonster12 Distortion+.

  • this guy could sell you a dollar for two dollars

  • Nice amp. How does the pedal sound?

  • SO GEBT EUCH DAS NICHT watch?v=BsxD7xTNW4w

  • Can someone answer me this question?: Why would i buy a distortion pedal if i have a great amp with nice sound already?

  • @guitarca4 I'm kinda dealing with the same question right now. I have a fender american strat (with locking tuners and lace pups) and a peavey classic 30 and frankly, they sound amazing. My only complaint is that there's not enough dirt on the distortion channel unless you CRANK it. So I'm gonna get an overdrive but part of me also wants to get a distortion but I'm not exactly sure why. Versatility maybe? having two different distortion sounds?

  • @TheDancingSaxophone thats exactly what i did, i've got this pedal and an old Do It Yourself pedal that simulates a tube screamer haha i call it the "Titty screamer" lol and that works for me just fine i have a PRS Singlecut and a Fender Super Champ amp and my stuff sounds good for me i can play metal classic rock hard rock, it definitely gives you a wider range of tones to have both so i recommend doing it, it was a good move for me so it might work for you to

  • does anybody know what the intro song was or was it just a custom tune done for this video?

  • i want your gibson

  • This guy could sell leather toilet paper to a vegan with a colostomy bag.

  • is this a "wet dist" or a "dry dist"???

  • excelente pedal timbre propio pr quem gosta de drive leve e limpo

e cristalino tenho e ñ me arrependo de ter colocado no meu 7.

  • 2:05, i think i he likes van halen lol (;

  • I assume the OCD is better

  • this guy could sell you a empty box

  • @knutdude or a broken pedal

  • @knutdude "This empty box, doesn't really have a lot of features on it, but it's a lot of damn fun! Let's flip the box upside down to use it in fort mode. Now, let's flip it back up and climb in it for space ship fun! Now, we're gonna go all out and strip this box down and make it a dance floor!" haha that would be great. :)

  • @SilentDestruction900 yea i remember when empty boxes were fun but now we pay 300 dollars for them(cough xbox 360)(cough guitar effect pedals)

  • @knutdude At least an empty box doesn't have little kids that drive you mad.

  • @knutdude sir it's an empty box not a empty box!

  • @knutdude Ahahahahaha

  • this pedal sounds awesome

  • dist plus vs dime? who wins?

  • @tzimisnff depends on what you want to use it for

  • thats LOL

this MXR is just operational amplifier and diodes

you can make such for few bucks

  • @Mushketer888

True.. I build my MXR Dist+ at home.. Took me 2 hours. The IC does half the work..

For readers/watchers: Keep in mind that in this review the guy uses the pedal on a crunchy amp, NOT clean. the MXR is wonderful, it gives a very organic, natural and crispy tone to your sound.

BUT.. It's not a high gain pedal. I use it more like a overdrive, and thats what this guy here did too. He used it to boost a driven/crunchy amp.

Thats what the pedal does best .and its a winner imo.

  • @Lol927837 nevertheless i'd like to hear the pedal on a clean amp, both settings would do just fine!

  • So is he playing this through an already distorted amp or is this being played through a clean tone?

  • @danielclarkeab92 yeah thats the same thing i was thinking :/

  • They really need to demo with a clean bypassed signal.

  • would you recommend this or a Boss DS-1?

  • Could I use this for post hardcore maybe?

  • man that is "I want to kill someone" distortion!

  • his playing sounds like the shit I took this morning

  • @ElTone43 Sounds like shit?! Bitch, you probably play the harmonica..

  • @Videoguru184 LOL ya i bet he plays the harmonica to practice giving blowjobs rofl hamonica is for queers.

  • what would you recommend for an acoustic with a pickup if i wanted to play more bluesy kinda thing?

  • @maciekomis get a CS3 compressor

  • Please PGS DEMO THIS PEDAL!!

  • how about showing what it can do ...

  • Pointless "demo".

  • Yeah, it won't get that loud at twelve o'clock! You have to get it at five to get it the same level as your amp.

  • i use this pedal for a very classic thrash metal type tone...kill em all (metallica) to be exact...and some van halen too.

  • @thojyout23 and is it pretty useful for that?

  • @metalmonkey88 i mean for solid states on CLEAN i use the distrotion to get the PUREST distortion, id rather get a marshall with TUBES without pedals though, but for now yeah its pretty effective! when i get the money to get a marshall im probaBly gonna sell my pedal.

  • What does the output knob have to do with the tone itself

  • @SilentDestruction900 It controls the output level of the pedal. If youre on a clean amp it lets you match volume. If youre dirty it will push the front end of your amp to give you more saturation and sustain.

  • one question. is this good for van halen?

  • @matthew909 for sure

  • hey sorry guys fer askin but does anyone know what's the name of the song playing in the background?thanks..been hunting fer it bt jz cant seem to find anytin

  • i don't get the beard thing...doesn't it get in your soup?

  • ewww hell no!!

  • Graphic EQ ( Mid Boost/High End Scoop ) -----> Distortion + -----> Marshall Valvestate = Awesome

  • its not just the amp setting, the sg has great gain, awesome for distortion/hard rock

  • Do MXR make any tube drive pedals?

  • this guy is the best spokeperson i have ever seen.

  • This pedal has a lazy distortion, you need to put in on a crunchy channel like this guy is doing it, or in front o f a OD, by himself its waaaayy of road compare to MXR distortion III

  • You gotta admit, the videos themselves are cool...

  • Learn Guitar Eddie Van Halen Flanger review & effects tips

    ROCK ON GOOD PEOPLE

  • this guy is a tool

  • hey can some one help me i feel stupid asking this but i bought this and when i put the cables in but it didnt go in all the way like only half way and it didnt work

  • Is it true-bypass?

  • cool sg

  • could you please make some new reviews this guy have alot of overdrive on when its bypassed. Is it because it sucks?

  • Seems more interested in showing how fast he can play than in showing what the gadget can do. How does it sound with the neck pickup, or both? With the tone control on the guitar rolled back? Does it clean up when you back the guitar volume down.

    These MXR demos absolutely suck!

  • Not bad.

  • though he was gonna jam out some stranglehold at first haha

  • This guy would make sound good even a distortion made out of a cranked nintendo ds speaker

  • this dude really Rock

  • Thanks. u are the man ;D

  • ~ 10$ to build it xD

  • i have the Distortion+, but when i have an alredady Distorted/overdrived amp it sounds like shit, and it deffenetly not sounds as it does in this video. it sounds really great through a clean amp. my amp is a little Micro Cube from Roland. is there something Wrong with my pedal??? ore can there be any problems???

  • well, not at all...but a micro cube is mostly a stand-alone amp...i mean, it is too tiny to be able to reproduce all the colours and dynamics of a big ass amp...

  • @Runelaier people use these on there tube amps dirty channel to boost it or on clean as you said but it wont boost it imo in any good way on a solid state amp not that the cube is bad its just science

  • ya, i dident like this pedal, probably because... welll.... not enough balls lol, their are better distortion pedal

  • @CemetaryGatesML is the the tubescreamer better?

  • @litlemadguitarist as a pedal, yes, for a good distortion yes, but as a better pedal, i dunno. try'em both out see what you like

  • @litlemadguitarist Depends on your taste. The Tubescreamer has a cleaner tone, where as this pedal can go from smooth overdrive to heavy fuzz. I will always prefer the Distortion +

  • @Runelaier Well, micro cubes dont have very good distortion in the first place. Rlaond have a hbit of making very digital sounding amps (well all the sounds are digitaly made so its normal...). Try getting a better amp. I would recommend the Vox Ac4. Its about 200 euros so it should be 200 dollars in america. Yes its not an Ac30 but its the best for the price!

  • What a god forsaken racket.

  • What is he playing on Extreme Overdrive setting?

  • what is the song playing back?

  • these videos are really good.

  • play some rock please

  • what does he mean with bypass? Can some1 explain that to me plz!

  • Normally bypass refers to having the effect off completely. To my understanding is that in this case, even though he was in bypass he had another overdrive/distortion on which makes hearing this pedal by itself VERY difficult.

  • Can this pedal get a good randy rhoads distortion ?

  • weard that it runs on AC and not on DC :o!!!

the pedal shouldn't like it to get daisychained with my DC adapter as most of the other pedals like ^^!

  • @cool007boy it uses 9V DC,

    200mA....Plug: 3.5mm (1/8 in.), tip positive.

would be cost them money to make a pedal use an a/c supply when it runs off a 9v d/c battery!

  • WTF, it's not on clean channel?

  • WTF, that's how Randy Rhoads and most others use it. It's pretty thin and buzzy on its own.

  • Would it sound good if I boost this with my Tubescreamer?

  • Great pedal!! I'm on to bye one of those.. Does anyone know which song is playing in the background?

  • does really think that hat/beard is a good idea?

  • @UnchainTheNight1 Im his fashion designer, its perfect trust me!!!

  • @UnchainTheNight1 Its not a review for fags who care about looks. Its a review about the pedal. Shut the fuck up he is probly better than u will ever be. He hangs with Slash, Doug Aldrich, Zakk Wylde and everyone who uses any dunlop or MXR., i think he is doing fine n couldnt care less.

  • @Stashitquick

    1. Pointing out that he looks wierd does not make me gay.

    2. No shit.

3 I know he is probably better than I will be.

    4. You probably pulled that out of your ass, and Slash sucks. Also, Doug is way better that Zakk Wylde is. And using Dunlop or MXR doesn't make you good.

    5. I didn't say that the review was bad.

    Now stop making ASSumptions, retard.

  • @UnchainTheNight1 alright. My mistake for the assumptions. Slash is awesome...Doug is obviously way better than Zakk I will always agree with that statement, didnt say using dunlop/mxr makes u better but he literally hangs out with all the dudes who are sponsored by dunlop/mxr just all the dudes he does the Dunlop TV's with. Word. No hate.

  • @Stashitquick Alright dude no problem.

  • @UnchainTheNight1 ok dude i agree with slash sucking bt no one and i mean no one owns zakk wylde

  • @UnchainTheNight1 well,works pretty good for billy gibbons :P

  • Is this true bypass???

The carbon copy delay is right?

  • can a 1 spot power this pedal? please reply!!!!

  • Yes

  • make some true bypass PLEASE ....

  • : =

  • is this a 9v dc or ac? help!!!

  • ac, buddy.

  • ac dude

  • don't ever think that if you would buy one you would sound almost as good as this guy on a TRANSISTOR amp. i swear, tube amps take pedals 100000x better then transistor

  • overdriven tubes > any distortion pedal

  • cept his shitty guitar is weak

  • @MFJord1 yh well, its a fact the tubes are better then transistors.

  • i dont want this pedal, i want the one in the background music for the intro!

  • I used an original dist+ for 20+ years - great, great pedal... period. if you have a switchable amp - it's all you need on top of your amp distortion.

  • lol, the amp is not even on clean, its got a lotta crunch. pointless vid.

  • it works best boosting an overdriven amp into distortion , thats how randy rhodes used it

  • @asda6572: Well that's basically when the Dist+ is at it finest, boosting overdrived amps to obvilion. Granted making a good demo of it is a bit difficult because the resulting sound depends much on you amp rather than just the pedal

  • @asda6572

Pretty sure that's just gain from the humbuckers, actually.

  • @asda6572 A lot of the classic 70's guitarists (Randy Rhoads included) used the Dist plus in addition to amp crunch. I think this vid is a pretty good example of how to use the pedal to best effect. Peace X

  • @asda6572 These is the idea - to push your amp.

  • @asda6572 Why wouldnt you use this pedal with a dirty amp? if you play it through a clean amp you just get a fuzzy solid state buzz. Gotta play dirty!

  • @asda6572 its not really pointless. its showing the best way how to use it the best way possible. If u play it just clean you would get a weak Distortion. Play it with a nice Dirty amp or a legit OD pedal like an OCD or Ts9 you would get the best tone possible

  • @asda6572 Maybe they're trying to say "don't use it as your main distortion, but as a boost pedal".

  • @asda6572 It's an overdrive pedal, not a distortion pedal. It's called a distortion PLUS because it ADDS to your distortion

  • @asda6572 Nah, the MXR is mostly used over an already distorted amp.

  • @litlemadguitarist that is correct. Put this pedal in front of an overdriven Marshall 2203/2204 and you got a great tone.

  • @pinkypimpalicous sorry but whats 2203/2204, a series?

  • @litlemadguitarist a 2203/2204 is a vintage Marshall JMP amp model. The 2203 is the 100 watt version and the 2204 is the 50 watt version. Around the early 80s the JMPs became JCM800s, still under the models 2203 and 2204.

  • @pinkypimpalicous Would it sound good on a MArshall JCM900 50 W combo?

  • @litlemadguitarist It totally would! Depends on how hard you drive your amp, if you are gonna have the natural overdrive of the amp blaring, then you wont have to use too much of the distortion from the pedal. But if you want a full out metal sound, by all means crank the pedal up and let it rip :)

  • @asda6572 The Distortion plus is not a stand alone distortion, its the same circuit as a DOD 250 overdrive.

  • @asda6572 thats the classic way it's used(notably by randy rhodes) and why it's called a >>>distortion (plus !)<<<it's best in front of an already breaking-up amp
