I just find it sad that songs have to be slow tempoed for people to see the meaning. Umbrella, with a title like it has, the meaning was apparent just listening to it? Is it a crime to be able to move to the song.

I think it sounds nice either way, but the up tempo makes it easier to relate to this generation. It's like the 'Lean on Me' of the 2000's

Also, a lot of the singers that cover this don't get the meaning. "In the dark, you CAN see shiny cars" makes this apparent. The original was a metaphor for how in the darkest times, the material things won't matter. These covers, including Mandy's, say superficiality is what you need when the cards are down. I love Mandy, but to say this has more meaning than Rihanna's is like saying Madonna's "American Pie" meant more than Don McLean's

this is better it matches the lyrics, the song is a love song, the words have so much meaning to it that it should be sung like this, however i don't really care for mandy moores voice but i like it better slower it matches the lyrics and makes it more meaningful then just singing it with a good fast beat
