I think you have to be a certain type of person to appreciate the movie. Our perception of 'scary' has been warped by cheap gorys like Saw. The day scenes were for you to see how the couple was dealing with it, and how they each were affected. It was meant to be believable, not an obvious CGI waste. The scary scenes were tasteful and subtle, and the acting was superb.

I just find it hard to get scared easily, and tend not to show im scared when i do. A fantastic film with brilliant acting. Paranormal Activity was not only good but it was scary and one of the best horror movies in years. And it was far better than Blair Witch Project which was not bad. If you thought Saw was good then this movie is probably not for you. But I'm confident that fans of suspense and classic ghost movies, like The Haunting (1960's version), will love it. The filmmakers understood that the scariest things are sometimes what you don't see.

I think it's still worth seeing because it is different than all those slasher horror movies or Japanese knockoff movies. But he does have a point about the hype. Paranormal Activity was not only good but it was scary and one of the best horror movies in years. And it was far better than Blair Witch Project which was not bad. If you thought Saw was good then this movie is probably not for you. But I'm confident that fans of suspense and classic ghost movies, like The Haunting (1960's version), will love it. The filmmakers understood that the scariest things are sometimes what you don't see.

I think it's still worth seeing because it is different than all those slasher horror movies or Japanese knockoff movies. But he does have a point about the hype.
