Is it just me? Or is the recording quality and device bad? I can hear one or two violins quite clearly instead of a whole section. Could it be that the mic is placed directly at one desk? It's like I can hear solo violin...haha.

amazing orchestra. but not conducted to my taste... the "breaks in melody" as someone mentioned make me cringe. check out the karajan's no5, allegro con brio. but... for some reason the orchestra he was conducting didn't seem to be hitting notes as cleanly as this one. could be the recording quality though.. karajan + this orchestra would be osifndsk. yes. that good.

Not too great compared to the rest of the Beethoven NO. 5's out there like Giulini, Karajan, Toscanini and Bohm. They're all bloody brilliant.
