Oddly, I was searching for samples of Dave Neihaus calls when I stumbled onto this.
Damn this was a favorite of a lot of people though. I mean that was 1992! Awesome for my fellow sports geeks at the time; screw the cards, this had the full 162 game season! I stopped playin this after a two year binge and got 94 World Series for the Genny... plus when my brother beat me in the bottom of the 9th by somehow getting Kevin Mitchel to go yard by bunting... My gaming ego died on that day...
Only problem with this title is the pitching... YOU simply don't have enough control with the pitching and it turns into a hitting fest... You can't even do a pitch out holding OVER on the pad... It still finds the plate and it's smacked... They screwed up the pitching big time in what could a been a great game overall... They should a just used the Griffey Snes style ... I liked the world series baseball for the genesis back in the day... slow but fun...
best sports game for Sega back in the day are 1) SportsTalk Baseball......2) Joe Montana Football (the original version - 1991)....3) NHLPA 1993....awesome games !!!!!
for some reason i decided to search this old games that i loved as a kid !!! i played this night and day ! me and all my cousins and uncles had a tournament with this game....lasted like 2 months.....and i ended up winning 265 bucks !!! i ran to Larrys bikeshop on Flatbush avenue here in Brooklyn NY and bought a Mongoose freestyle bicycle...not that anyone gives a shit about this story,,,,,but i love those memories !!! thanks for the posting....nostalgia !!
This is the best baseball game of the 16-bit era followed closely by the World Series Baseball "franchise. Set the fielding to auto and this game plays amazing (manual fielding will only give you headaches).
this clip is pretty good at showing the real weakness of the game... super delay in the "sports talk." You could do something like hit a bases-loaded double or triple and the play would be over but the voice over had accumulated such a line of commentary that it would continue to talk well after the action had completed.
cool video, was there ever a SNES/Genesis game that had both a MLB and MLBPA license. Nowadays they come together but back during the 8-bit/16-bit days. It seemed like the game either had one, the other or none at all.
I played the shit out of this game when I was around 11 or 12! best team to use is seattle mariners with all their power hitters like griffey, kevin mitchell, jay buhner, edgar martinez..
The original game was released in Japan without any commentating but it featured a psycho crowd that chanted into time to some crazy music. It had the Japanese teams instead. It was kinda sad to see the music taken out but the commentating was HUGE for the time. Yes was delayed. Yes it was very generic but a big leap in video game history.
this is why i had a sega they where always taking it to the next level while nintendo rereleased their nes games only more rendered for the snes this game was way ahead of its time!
I believe I played this just to see a cameo appearance of Sonic the Hedgehog, SEGA's current mascot, on one of the advertisements in one of the indoor fields whenever someone on a team hit a home run--back in the '90s.
I still play this classic from time to time, using teams like Los Angeles and Atlanta...I got a bunch of home runs with Los Angeles the last time I played this game. So much fun for 1992...
This game made it seem like Dave Winfield was a Blue Jay for 6 years even though he only played for the Jays one year. My favorite baseball game ever, amazing for it's time. As far as keeping stats in a 162 gm season I think Joe Carter may have hit 90+ HR's for me.
Hell yeh the Genesis is one of my favorite consoles of all times.
I always loved the way Genesis scale sized there sports games with the little men.
Tony La Russa Baseball 95 was one of my fav Baseball.Triple play 96 took the cake for me.
Gotta love NHLPA 93.The way they scale size the little men and there surroundings was perfection...You just can't beat the old gameplay in these sports games of the 90's on the Genesis...SEGA!!!!!
my favorite baseball video game of all time, terrible graphics of course but the genesis is my fav system ever and the pick up and play controls are so much fun and not to advanced so even the most awful player can have fun kinda gay though how it allows my friend bobby to beat me every time weve ever played, he ten run ruled me the other night in the bottom of the 1st inning, wtf!! but i gotta say i love this game, very fun too play
also, my buddy was an A's fan and anytime rickey henderson would get a hit....i'd simply let him run to 2nd afterwards..............just because it was absolutely impossible to throw him out at 2nd on a steal.
One my all time favorites. This was back when the games did not record stats that you compiled during the season. So me an my brother kept our own stats on binder paper for entire 162 game season. Hits, at bats, we calculated batting average, homeruns, even innings pitched an earned runs so we could calculate ERA. I remember we played with the A's and Canseco hit 70 homeruns.
when a runner would be on base and you were fielding you could step on and off the base over and over and the guy just rambles on "safe, safe, he's safe, not in time, safe, not in time, safe, safe". good memories with this!
also there was a way you could throw the ball into the stands and it would just "roll" into the upper deck and out of the stadium
I remember this game so well. I remember I'd intentionally drop the ball over and over and the play by play guy would say "Whoops. He drops it! I can't believe it. I can't believe it. I can't believe it."
It had my dying laughing in my own living room! Love this game!
This really was a great game. Many baseball video games are too complex and ruin the fun. The players definitely hit more than is realistic but it was a great game. I think the best team is the Tigers. The Rangers, Blue Jays, Reds, and Braves are also good. Howard Johnson of the mets is the best player. He hits for power and can steal second. He also can play any position so you can create a team of just him!
check out my video response i FOUND THE REAL STADIUMS!!!! that where used in sports talk/super league! they look like the real ones dont forget to commend ^^
OH MY GOD, I have not laughed that hard in weeks! Thanks for that one, it may be wrong but it sure was funny! Have you seen "superhero movie" speaking of the professor?
I'm just waiting for the voice to break into "they quantum theory of the ball...throws to first...traveling at a velocity approaching 100 MPH causes a slight...swing and a miss... curvature in the space time....HOME RUUUUUUUUUUN!!!!!!!"
greatest thing about this game is you can occasionally throw people out at first from the outfield when they should have a base hit, like Larry Walker throwing out Fernandez in real life. Classic.
This game blows every baseball game out of the water. me and my pops use to play this game hours on end. i actually still play it from time time it never gets old ahhhh I love it!!!
Yeah i have this game still and play it sometimes for fun . Yeah the announcer lol if you come from behind win at end he opens his mouth lol thats about it. -Yeah always says He dropped it i cant beilive it a big error for the feilder. Also in the game is a 10 run rule lol

The only things I didn't like about this game was no actual teams, only 3 stadiums, and you had to play a full 3 game series in order to save your game. Other than that, this game was hella fun.
