  • It's interesting seeing how the look of some of the band members have changed since this video to Courageous.

  • why does Casting Crowns like making music videos in the street

  • es lo mzzz LOkoo DE La Vida CUnado tE DEiDiCAAS a Tu TrBAJAOOO Y nO le PaRAZ bOla A dIUOIss ThISS coOL

  • I NEVER TAKE FIVE HOUR ENERGY YOU DUMB TWAT

  • I love Casting Crowns! they come to perform in Holland where i live june 9, Can't wait to hear them Live !! God bless

  • Let christ shine... wow that is amazing...rock on casting crowns

  • dude that was an awesome sand castle :O

  • oh please put some of the older songs on this like what if his people prayed. the man reason is because i love the songs so much and i cant put them on my playlists. thank you for the ones you do have. great song

  • Video made me cry... Which is weird because I never cry and I dont even understand why I cried.. :/

  • @MsStephanieHubbard God moved in you :)

  • I don't know what amazes me more: the little amount of views or the incredible number of families that go through this same situation. May God be with you all and your families!

  • Pray for the 17 people that they have God in their hearts.

  • @SuperBspb if only you knew what you were saying

  • @jtjesuslover What? I'm praising the dark lord of the underworld, is there something wrong with that?

  • dubstep or even mainstream is alot better

  • @Isaiahenderson936 Dubstep doesn't have a powerful message though. Casting Crowns' songs can be life changing. It's not about how "cool" it is. "Your" opinion is "your" opinion. It means nothing to me. So keep it to "yourself".

  • @Isaiahenderson936 I see you liked it though. Sry didn't notice that. :P

  • oh, and those 17 people who disliked, don't know what a family is, and what a father means to a kid. either that or they were abandoned by their dad and are now holding a grudge and don't know about the heavenly father who loves you more than anything and if you accept his gift of salvation you will one day have a home with him, in heaven.

  • @Tiger32697 Or those 17 people who disliked the song.. Didn't much like the song, and have a very close, caring loving family and are all devout christians. Just because they dont like a song doesn't mean anything. Just because a song is sang by a christian group doesn't automatically mean every single christian needs to like it.

  • amazing song <3 and American Dream, perfect theme! :)

  • I could listen to this song all day! It says so much to me...I've seen so, so, so many people in life that were in this mans boat. I will never put material things ahead of God, family, love, and peace of mind. I'm going to blast this song driving through the subdivisions, may those people know they can have true happiness.

  • This song is about the pursuit of things, money and security vs the pursuit of people and God. Missing out on everything that you have in pursuit of more(The American Dream).

  • And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it."

    Matt 7:26-27 (ESV)

  • This song speaks about vanity.

  • @stacysantos1 In a way, and i can see where you come from

i see it (meaning this is my view and nothing more, a persons interpretation of a song may be different) as a song based on putting the world before God, and work to improve your family before your family, IE his work pushing him from his son, but it could easily be a GF/BF pushing you from church or prayer

  • @stacysantos1 (2nd comment, sry box limit) i do fully see the vanity side, putting yourself before God, thinking you can do it yourself, if thats not what you meant i would love to hear what you mean

  • The American Dream needs to be revamped. It's been so glorified by Hollywood. This song helps illustrate it! Everyone needs to pull together and start valuing the important things in life!!

  • 85% would rather build a castle in the sand and live a good life, yet fail to see what is trult important, 15% would rather have a shack on a rock, would have a hard life, but has a good family, a god in their lives, and knows the real way to live... 1 am one of the 15%, are you?

  • @Wietting1 What about the percent that would rather have a castle on the rock???

  • @corey6516 well... then what stays on te rock is good, the rest falls apsrt and turns to mud

  • Seriously, what is the big deal about calling us citizens american? nobody cares anyway. This is a very good song.

  • It doesn't matter who you are, or where you come from. It doesn't matter if you're athiest or whatever. It has value in it, period. I remember I came to this video and saw someone saying, "This would be better if there weren't Mormon and Lady Gaga ads in the top of the related videos". Instead of letting it go, I argued. Now I've learned.

The best songs are the songs that give values everyone can share.

  • this song has such a good message as do all of casting crowns songs. i myself am not christian and i dont believe in god but these songs are a great inspiration this one for example shows that someone who has nothing to belive in but making his life and his familys better can become absorbed in nothing but that and loose all sense of what is important in the moment it shows that when a person has something to belive in it helps them to achieve what they need or what they desire. great music!!!!!

  • i like this song it rockin awsome

  • God is merciful and kind. Whatever you have lost repent and the Lord will give it all back. I am praying for whoever this is.

  • this song has a lesson to teach, spend more time with the father, your family, and your friends, you never know what will happen so hold them close

  • @Wietting1 Yeah, I know. My dad told my friend's older brother why you shouldn't work overtime. You really shouldn't, unless you have to (like my dad). But we went to Chicago together and celebrate Christmas together. This song has a good meanind and a great song.

  • 2:23 "I Know, I know, it's just another birthday..."

  • kind of a Christian "cat's in the cradle", huh?

  • this was my story, i lost everything, even my health, i ended up homeless and broken, but my Jesus is faithful, He has restored me, and now I have a wonderful relationship with my daughter again, and my grand daughter loves her grampa!! thank you Lord for second chances

  • @TheBigpapadon great story! God is good!

  • Man, he was just trying to provide for his family...sad

  • awesome song!!!

  • so would this song be considered more gospel/religous or rock? haha

  • that man needs some rest.

  • MG . you may have a house ,a Job , a wife or girlfriend. but if you don,t have Jesus .you have nothing.praying for you.

  • One of the few christian songs I can head-bang to. Good stuff

  • im goin 2 the concert 2day!!!!!!! (11-19) its gonna b so awsum!

  • Amazing.

  • I feel this songs message is that with out God in your Family, or marriage, it lacks Gods Plan. I have allot of friends. Most of them have no faith in there lives. There Marriages are failing. My opinion if they would Put Jesus, God In there hearts things would get allot better. Time will tell Awesome song.

  • I wish we could like this video more than once!!!!!!!

  • This song reminds me of my dad when i was younger. Worked so hard to get everything we could ever want but all we really wanted was for him to spend more time with us. Cant change the past but thankful for the present.

  • 16 people are athiest.

  • technically people who live in the U.S. are Americans its their nationality people in canada are too by continent like africans or asians but they also have their nationality which is canadians . Its a lot like australians its their continental name and the nationality. I don't think it offends anyone calling yourself american

  • LOVE THIS SONG!!!! :D

  • Me to

  • jack wears suspenders. think that may be part of the problem... just sayin'

  • I think 16 people sneezed and accidentally hit the dislike button

  • @rere143

Please dont do that. A lot of people listen to this song for uplifting thoughts and to see how God works through people. Dont try to get likes, just listen. Please it makes me sad that on a Christian song people are trying to get likes.

  • @BoTHerHAter

Lol. What.. are likes against God now? If you just want to listen, don't look at the comments.

Oh, and before you pull the whole "you must not be a Christian... I'll pray for you", I am born-again. :)

  • @Kronis72

Likes are not against. it just seems like people put comments like that TO get likes. the "you must not be a Christian... I'll pray for you". I dont know if your Christian or not so I would not say that to a person unless they are truly wicked(Which I seriously doubt you are(: )

    Have a good day :)

  • @2:05 Cock-blocked. Great song though. I love it!

  • Amen!!! Blessed be the name of God!!!!!!!!!!!

  • these guys brought me closer to god and i am so happy that i met mark and got to talk to him about my faith.

  • if it offends you get over it.

  • Thumbs up if you keep pressing the replay button(L)

  • i feel bad for those 16 people who dont have dreams.... i pray for all you out there that your heart may be softened and maybe let Christ into your life. and to anyone who reads this, i hope the best for you. as i listen to this song, it reminds me of whats important.

  • Oh Dear Lord, I am so sorry. This is my story. Now I'm losing it all. Please forgive me.

  • @planmanbfd go take back what you lost... cant turn back time, but you can change your present, with God's help... im sure by the time you posted this, God already did forgive you.

  • @planmanbfd if you confess your sins, He will be a just God and forgive, but its your choice to fix what you have damaged as best you can

i really hope everything works out/is working out for you

  • Where do you store your treasures?

  • I just love the message of this video that God needs to take precedence over everything else in your life or you are on sinking sand.

  • @lanceertz God and the blessings he shares with you... family.

  • UASH............ QUE CANCION MAS HERMOSA, ES VERDAD AVECES NOS PREOCUPAMOS MAS POR LA PARTE ECONOMICA Y COMO "SUPLIR" LAS NECESIADADES MATERIALES DE CADA MIEMBRO DE NUESTRA FAMILIA ...ENTRANDO EN UN CIRCULO DE MONOTONIA Y STRESS... OLVIDANDO ASI LAS NECESIDADES "SENTIMENTALES Y ESPIRITUALES" TANTO DE ELLOS COMO DE NOSOTROS MISMOS.....

  • why is everybody argueing and cussing on the comments of this extremely beautiful song? a christian song at that? if you dont have anything nice to say dont say anything at all.

  • @desslou agreed

  • @desslou I know right.

  • Who The Hell Dislikes This Song?!?!?!

  • I definetly like this video clip.

    Thank you !

  • what truely it the american dream... thats the real question asked in this song

  • I can't worship God on my iphone with this song 'cause the person who made him don't want...God bless either

  • Casting crowns seem to apply USA is America? Odd I don't remember a country called "America"

  • @mrpilot102 First of all, The United States *of America* is simply (if incorrectly) called "America" by many people. Second of all, the phrase "American Dream" was not coined by Casting Crowns, so don't blame them for its imperfection. Lastly, the song is not about the name of the United States, it's about spending time with your family.

  • @TheThirdlayer So if something is wrong should someone continue with it? There is no country called America..so is casting crowns talking about Mexico? LIving the mexican dream. Or how about Brazil?

  • @mrpilot102

Dude, they never say America, they say American. Not Mexicans or Brazilians, but American's. Who are people who live in the United States of America. Before you go posting comments, think about weither or not your facts are straight.

  • @cycmpdf My facts are straight, sadly it's yours that are wrong. There is NO country called America. Therefore people living in Canada, US, Mexico, Costa Rica, Chile, Brazil, etc, etc are ALL Americans. The US can't hijack two continents name for themselves.

  • @mrpilot102

*Sigh* I never said there was a country called America, but the people in the USA are called Americans, since they long ago broke away from Britian, so are no longer called English or British. Therefore, they are called Americans. Since it is the United States of America, there are no people caleld the Unitish, Statish, so they are then called Americans. Try to stop sounding smart, because, in all honestly, you aren't. Talking to you is making my IQ drop.

  • @cycmpdf I'm a pilot so naturally I travel a considerable amount. I get to meet people from all over the world with this job. You would be surprised how many DO NOT like the US calling themselves "Americans" . That pisses of countless people, including myself. Is it my problem your founding fathers picked a shitty name to call your country? I do not ever refer to people in the US as "Americans"...Maybe Yankees or USAers. Don't worry your IQ is already near the bottom.

  • @mrpilot102

Truthfully though, what would you call people who live in the United States of America? And not the names you listed above, because, really, if you said that in a crowd, you would get beaten up...or killed...depending on whose neighborhood you're in. You can't call them English by the way, because they aren't, they broke away from England. And, by the way, I have traveled very much, and, I'm not American. :)

  • @cycmpdf I would call them exactly what I said, Yankee's or USAers, or maybe the welfare state. Why would I call them English? Last time I looked the US is not in England.

  • @mrpilot102

Congrates on being the only person who says that, everyone else just calls them Americans. Believe me, I live in Scotland, I've lived in Germany, Wales, Israel, America, and a couple of other places but don't feel like saying, and we all just called 'em Americans.

  • @cycmpdf Actually I know an enormous amount of people who do not call them "americans" most often they say "people from the US". You Scottish? How about I call you English or Welsh?

  • @mrpilot102

Well, I am also Welsh and English, I don't really have a 'name' because I don't stay in one country long enough. :) I'm just saying, don't be a smart ass about this all, this is a christian song, and we should be praising god instead of arguing, aye?

  • @cycmpdf Well just admit that every single person living in North and South America are "Americans" then.

  • @mrpilot102 The name of our country is the United States of AMERICA, so AMERICAN is the proper term for the people living here. How could it possibly offend anybody?

  • @Mantis1882 "America" is NOT a country it is numerous countries in two continents. If you want to call yourself something then pick United statesians. And it offends people from Argentina to Canada.

  • have they made any new songs?

  • this is a great song. hey guys go look up another christian songs called Lazarus by carman on youtube and come back and thumbs up if this comment if u get goosebumps O_O

  • always have loved this song and songs like it

  • sounds like My friends Dad.

  • ill take a rock on shack over a castle in the sand anyday

  • meant shack on a rock

  • Hey everyone. First I wanted to say sorry to you and the owner of this channel for spamming. My big sister was murderd 3yrs ago and nothing was ever done about it. She left behind 3 wonderful children that me and my parents raise.I wrote a song about her to help get attention to our cause of a closer investigation into her death (there is a link in the vid description) We dont want money or your information, mainly just prayers but becoming a member to the cause would be great!Thank You so much!

  • We Have a song called AMERICAN DREAM by MY DUDES BAND.... its very reall music.. give it a try

  • i LOVE this song

  • This song reminds me of my dad... Dad, find the lord in your heart instead of calling others below you names... no ones below you

  • I like the song. Anyone wonder why people insist on creating a religious debate everywhere they go? (response to multiple comments below) Just enjoy the music and get on with your lives.

  • @kghill1980 HALLLLLLLLLLLLLELUUUUUUUUUUUUJAH!!!

  • The lips are noticeably off sync... Fail... AWESOME video besides that though...

  • they don't look happy in the end.....

  • @m3xicanpride1142 Wounds take time to heal.

  • turn to jesus and love him praise him he is the only way to a good life he will bless you he is holy he NEVER deserved his cruel pain and suffering they crucified him but what did they know he loves us he died for us the past 2000 years ago was 100% proof god loves us he gave his only son for probably about 10trillion people haleljugha thumbs up if love and give full respect and really great honor to him our great lord jesus christ now pray halelugha we pray to him in the name of our great lord

  • @zombieboy1120 stop trying to convert people im happy with my life without god cuz i meet up with my m8s on sunday and if u think giving us his son to rip apart was good think it through y not come himself insted of letting a kid suffer

  • @sickJNR Wow, you're an angry little guy, aren't you? Atheist, no doubt. Why in the world are you on a Christian page if you are happy with your life without God? Some of us are happy with our life with God, and if that young man wants to profess his love for Jesus, who are you to criticise him? If you are so offended, don't come to the page of a Christian band and spew your anger out at those of us who believe. You are here because you are looking for this very thing, the love of Jesus.

  • @soonergirl72 im not an atheist im open to religon but 1. this song may be sung by a cristian but its not about religion

    2. i thought the way zombieboy1120 left his comment was demanding people to turn to god

  • If you want to give your family a better life then bring God into your life. You may not be rich or famous but you'll have God and love. I'd turn away from being rich and famous to be with God any day. God is the only thing in life worth working for. You can live without nonesense like games and money. Turn away from all that and go into a life a love and poverty. It's better then a life without God.

  • <3 this song

  • i find this inspiring in so many ways

  • Amazing!

  • @theGuyYouHate01 ur satan -.-

  • @m3xicanpride1142

    yes, i am

  • @djiking2d I have an honest hope that your life is given to the fullest and you are able to get all that you need, and continue to follow God.

Sometimes agreeing to disagree is the best option there is.

  • @djiking2d I do love Jesus and do obey His commandments.

However, "let he who has not sinned cast the first stone". Should we sinners in the modern day insult or offend people?

Let's just settle on this: I was wrong to have said anything, especially in something as petty in this. Let God judge our works and continue to love God, Jesus, and those around us.

  • @Kunabee You are taking that verse out of context, and using it for the purpose it was not intended for. It is dis-relevant to this conversation because you are not being accused of sin so that you make be ostracized. The verse about the speck & the plank is also dis-relevant because this is ousting heresy. Paul, John, and Peter wrote against heresies extremely often, especially Paul & John.

  • @Kunabee Good night. I digress because we must agree to disagree.

  • @djiking2d A murderer is not of Christ, yes. However, belief in the Only One God and that Jesus Christ is our Savior is the beliefs of Christianity; it would make sense that following values of kindness also could as Christianity. If I believe that God is the only God and that He sent His Son Jesus Christ to be our Savior, am I not Christian, Mormon or otherwise?

  • @Kunabee Mormon, yes, because you follow the Book of Mormon. Christian, no because there is no need for any other book to learn about Jesus, than the Bible as it exists in the Christian Church. *This excludes the Apocrypha that Martin Luther arbitrarily added & the Catholic & Orthodox Churches retain to this day.

You are good with words on a screen, but any person can find the beliefs of the Church of LDS online, and see that it is a lie.

  • @djking2d I don't know this, at least not fully enough to properly explain this. I am young and still naive, oftentimes (yes, I'll admit it), biased. However, if the Spirit gives discernment why have I not felt the need to tell someone they are not Christian unless it came from the Devil? Belief in the One and Only God and His Son Jesus Christ is Christianity. If it is not completely correct Christianity then sobeit. However, Mormons are Christians because we have that belief.

  • @Kunabee Believing Jesus is the Messiah, and God, does not make you a Christian. "Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble." James 2:19 (KJV)

You must love Jesus. That means obeying Jesus.

  • @Kunabee Perhaps you have not been given spiritual discernment, are the one being deceived by the Devil, and lulled into a false hope. There must be rebuking and admonishment. Even Jesus hurt peoples' feelings, and offended others, quite often actually. I'm not sure there is a time Jesus said something in the Gospels where someone wasn't offended by His words.

If someone isn't offended by what you say, then you probably aren't saying anything.

  • @djking2d Spiritual discernment is merely being able to feel the Spirit and listen when it tells you to avoid bad things. It is not posting something (other then: "I pray for you and hope you find your way", etc.) that someone could feel is wrong or insult them.

I did not counter that because you are both wrong and right. It's a hard subject to explain that I do not completely understand myself. When I do completely understand the concept, then I will counter it and explain it better.

  • @Kunabee ...You're saying spiritual discernment would not hurt another person's feelings, or insult them? Have you ever read the New Testament of the Bible? I can't even count how many times Jesus, Paul, Peter, John, James, and the author of Hebrews insults, or offends someone. That's almost as tedious as counting the sand on one beach.

  • @djking2d I also believe I need to mention that I was wrong to say something to your comment. We are all entitled to our opinions in the end, and I suppose we'll all find out who's wrong and who's right. This song can apply to everyone - the love of family should ALWAYS overcome love of money. We need to build our home in Jesus and in love, for God is love. Building it in the sand of temperary things will have it be washed away.

  • @Kunabee The Spirit gives discernment, wisdom, and authority to rebuke false prophets, teachers, and gospels. I've read about what the Church of LDS believes, and read the Book of Mormon, it is nothing like Jesus in the Gospels. Why was NONE of the Book of Mormon, and what happened in it foretold in the Old Testament by any of the prophets ordained by the Lord? Why did the early Christians not try to go west to see Jesus after the Ascension, if the things in that BoM are true?

  • @Kunabee When it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, ITS A DUCK. All I am doing is calling a spade a spade. However, I do not hate Mormons, or even those trying to kill me, and others like me, in the name of jihad. I am not better than anyone, and never will be. The only difference, that matters, between me and the a fore mentioned is that I am in Christ, and they are not.

  • @djking2d Also, the Book of Mormon is 98% about Jesus and how His teachings apply to the stories within. Yes, Jesus is the Way.

The Book of Mormon is NOT an ADDITION to the Bible; it is a seperate writing.

  • @djking2d Mormons aren't a cult. We believe that God (our Hevenly Father) is our one true God and that He sent his Son Jesus Christ to cleanse those on Earth from sin. Is that not Christianity? Besides, every religion has a figment of truth to it - yes, I believe that some are more right then others. But it's nobody's right to put down religion or to say something that is false.

  • @Kunabee The Church of LDS adds to the Bible, and that is why it is heresy. Jesus, and the apostles said to beware of wolves in sheep's clothing, and to expose them for what they are. That is not judging. That is having spiritual discernment, which we are admonished to have.

I noticed that you did not counter anything I said about Mormons becoming a god of their own planet and populating it with the children they have with their wife/wives. Why is that?

  • Lol at the drummers face at 2:46 haha but this is such a great song i listen to it everyday!

  • I miss my dad and our time every sunday... :"-(

  • Um great song, but all the religious comments are kind of wierd. Keep your religious opinions to yourself, all of us have the right to believe what we wish to, and not one has the right to say their belief is better than anyone elses or that they will pray for someone else because they are wrong, it's a bit ridiculous. Once again I say excellent song

  • @pandabear1193 The comments section is a place to voice your opinions. If we don't voice opinions on the comments, there's nowhere left to do so. Also, praying for someone is a way to express your love for them. I love people, so i prayer for their salvation.

  • @Bennyrulez1997 I understand the comments section is for us to voice our opinions but its for us to voice what we thought of the song and what not, not for us to advertise our religious veiws. As far as praying for someone because you "love " them seems to push it. You do not know me therefore you don't love me, if you were to pray for me for salvation it would be superficial and forceful of your religion. If I do not seek salvation then it is not your place to push your belief of that on me.

  • @pandabear1193 Okay, I understand your point of view for the comments. As for the prayer, I may not know you, but I do know that I wouldn't want you to go to a place of eternal torment. I wouldn't wish that on anybody. If you don't seek salvation, that's your business. But I'm just trying to get everyone to see both sides.

  • @Bennyrulez1997 Okay for that I respect you and understand where your coming from. I feel people are entitled to their own beliefs, I just strongly disagree with those who seem to push it on other people. I had a coach in high school 2 years back who was very religious and was coaching a public school I stood up to her about it and she practically forced me off the team for not praying and partaking in "team religious acts." It made me realize how much we all need to respect each others veiws

  • story of my life...thanks god for always being there <3

  • @KEEPUSINJESUS I agree with you

  • This song pretty much describes my Dad and family from ever since i was a little girl, im 16 now and he finally made it to the top of a multi-million pound business, but our family is completley broken.

  • Friends,

    Let us not argue.

  • Great Video. Great Song. But does this band practice what they teach? The moral of this song is not to follow the american dream, which is basically having a nice car, family, job, etc. What does this song advocate? not to work? be homeless? I don't know for sure, but it is possible that this band makes good money. I'd like to see what car the lead vocalist drives, what house he owns, etc.

  • @asgb94 I feel it's to show that you must enjoy the little things in your life, that if your working 24 7 you could be missing your moms birthday, your kids graduation, maybe even just playing ball with your kid or watching a family movie. By always working for the next best thing you missed the best things in life your family and friends
