  • Nice. I have a 1993 3 cyl 4 door that's burning oil bad. Has a rebuilt head. But the cylinders look good inside. No scratches. I can even see some original cross hatching. Going to hone and re-ring. Did you have the crank reground when you put in new bearings?

  • @billk29 Please excuse the late reply, my crankshaft appeared fine, but decided to change the con rod bearings only when I installed new rings. Oil can also go past the intake valve stem seals-cheers; geometro forum is a good source of info help.

  • Hey, great rebuild. Engine looks awesome. I have a 1998 Chevrolet Metro, basically the same engine, 3 cyl (1.0L) Manual Tranny. Did you pull this engine out and rebuild or did you rebuild it in the car? And if you pulled it out, how long did it take you? I'm looking to spend as little time as possible dealing with this.

  • @TRILLGATES2K6 Sorry for the late reply, have not been here lately. I did the rebuild with the block in the car; it is easier that way. Go to Geometroforum, lots of help there, good luck!

  • Hello do u no anything about rebuilding the tranny on a geo hatch back...mine is blown...would like to no how hard it is to rebuild myself. I love my geo...

  • @lindacrnll You most likely will be better off to get a used trans; $150. or so; go to: geometroforum (.com) lots of good advice there!

  • Sounds good. These might turn out to be the only cars worth rebuilding!

  • @lividmany This is a fun car, a good way to get fuel economy and fairly simple to work on
