  • such a wise man..another Underrated Great guitarist

  • Man, what a nice well spoken person.

  • great

  • Genius.

  • So true...we always think, "If I could have that', or "if I could get there...then ALL my problems would be solved". But it's NOT always that way, if fact you will have many of the same problems, along with a whole bunch of 'new' problems as well.

The grass may look greener, but it may taste bitter. Still I think I'd like to at least try some bitter green...idk?

  • Well said.

  • he really was amazing to watch perform live....i saw him recently when The Cars played in Philly 5/22/2011 and let me say how AMAZING this man really is. SUCH TALENT yet so nice and grounded. this video shows what a great man he is...he played so fierce. watching him play was mesmerizing!

  • Elliot is the sort of influence guitarists like me are proud to have.

  • "Is that all there is?" Lol, that's life isn't it? Well said Elliot. Congrats on your recent wedding, hope you are ridiculously happy.

  • Elliot was/and is so underrated as a guitarist..and he's absolutely such a cool and nice guy. Alot of people don't know he put out a solo album and it was FABULOUS. I have it still and love to listen to it. Great guy and sooo talented.

  • i LOVE his honesty and truth. Elliot you kick ass!!!

  • @dmartinezguitarart totally 2nd that comment, he's VERY underrated. a great guitarist and a humble and nice person. he's the reason i love sg's.

  • @starassist1977 a really underrated awesome guitar player

  • cool, real dude

  • oh man I thought he must have been crawling with chicks. even when I was 14 when I was listening to them. damn! he is such the cool master. rock zen.

  • It's great for Elliot to share that perspective on success (and fame). True wealth in life is loving your family and surrounding yourself with people you care about. Everything else really is bullshit....

  • 0:00 - 0:09 cool! The rest, yawn...

  • EE is cool per the earlier posters. However, he is also very well spoken and obviously well educated. It is most enjoyable listening to his type of persona.

  • I really like his honesty and introspection. Never knew that about him. He seems really cool. I've always LOVED his guitar playing. He IS one of The Greats!!

  • welcome to the Grand Illusion...

  • I will never be as famous as Elliot. However, I did own a very profitable business, drove a Ferrari 328 and had a nice bank account......so what. Here I am in a nice house with all the 'stuff' I ever wanted and thinking, "So when does it get good? This isn't everything it was cracked up to be." I can only imagine what Elliot went through.

  • LOL...when i got accepted into medical school i was like...this is so anti-climatic...i thought my acceptance would fix everything hahaha....true man..this guy speaks the truth about success!

  • it takes a fast car babe, to lead a double life.....

  • I have to say, the moment I heard the cars I was hooked, and Elliot's guitar playing really gave the band credibility as far high musicianship. The drums, keyboards, etc were all fairly simple (rightly done), but the guitar parts were very unique and many times new. Of course, the entire band had a very new sound at the time and they really birthed much of what happened in the 80s. That's the way I saw it.

  • @orlandofriend elliot had a really unusual elegance... that was overshadowed by the sortof grotesque awkwardness of the music of the time... that's what I have always seen in him... elegance.

  • I was a casul The Cars fan during their heyday.

I never payed much to Easton's guitar playing until I bought the great book "Michael Bloomfield : The Rise and Fall of an American Guitar Hero" from the early 80's.

Elliot wrote part of the foward and I saw him in a new light, = ing if he dug Bloomfield I must of missed something about his playing.

Reevaluating he's a fine tasty guitarist.

  • @GalaxyRover1020 wow interesting he was into Bloomfield. I always liked him, but that is so cool.

  • Part of the fun of success is having someone to share it with - the man gets it!

  • exactly man!!! i m starting to realize this!

  • Aww, Easton, you're the coolest! And still badass after all these years!

  • It's the other way around ..........

  • thats why the new cars did so great xD :-p no he is nothing without the cars

  • I appreciate this.... that is the interview & the honesty...... & the under rated talent.

  • I forgot how cool Elliot is. He rocks in his own right.

  • The guy is FRIGGIN grounded and in touch with reality! Elliot for PRES!!!

  • He would be a great president.

    He rocks for sure.

  • i like that nobodys hating on or being nasty here...nice!

  • I like how you like that. It's even a surprise that someone noticed that!

And yes, Easton is pretty real, serious funny, NORMAL! Plus, his playing is pretty awesome too...

  • To Mr. Elliot Easton.........You wrote and recorded at least 5 albums that fixed everything. Thanks, Joey.

  • Great Interview. Thanks!

  • Elliot is so cool. To bad more musicians aren't like him.

  • @CarnabyStreetBand you got that right. he's quite a talent.

  • Excellent stuff. I loved his first solo album. He always seemed a bit stand-offish in The Cars, but seems completely open and approachable here. Thanks!

  • well if you listened to what he said you can understand why cause that was in the period he was talking about

  • Thanks for posting!!!
