Any Ford Mustangs, especially the most recent generation are great fun and can be equipped from the factory with killer brakes and suspension. Fox-body Mustangs would benefit from a hydraulic clutch. Pontiac Solstices came with factory performance pieces and the engine is tunable. GXP version came boosted, but there were track-ready specials. Typical drift cars like S13 and AE86 have great aftermarket support but finding clean examples are getting harder to find. Insurance may be a downside too.

Big, RWD sedans like Nissan Cima/Infiniti Q45, Toyota Celsior/Lexus LS400, Toyota Altezza/Lexus IS-series, etc, among others can be converted to drift cars. Look into their engine and chassis families for performance parts compatibility. BMWs have a huge aftermarket following. Mercedes-Benz has great cars, though many are automatics. Still, they're bulletproof. Some people have even converted old-school Jaguars for drifting, but even with V-12 power, they're still custom jobs.

Australian Fords and Holdens, RWD and with torquey V8s ranging from mild to wild, whether it's a sedan, coupe, station wagon or ute. The Holden/Vauxhall Monaro/ Pontiac GTO gets special mention since Top Gear featured them with D1GP drifters, which loved the cars. GTOs may never be cheaper in the states. Remember, many teams are converting to V8 power for torque and easier maintenance. Hyundai Genesis Coupe comes from the factory either with a tuner-friendly turbo 4 or V6.

Rotary power, while high on revs, gives great power-weight ratio. FDs are a challenge to find clean. 3-rotor engines are obtainable and swappable. Good luck with 4-rotors! RWD. Classics like Toyota Cressidas/Mark II/Chaser/Cresta, Soarer, and Skylines, Stagea, Cedric, Leopard, Cefiro of different years are great swap candidates, but older gens are getting harder to find. Depending on model year, some came turbocharged. Zs of all years have huge following, but early models need stiffening.

sick video. weve started doing touge racing here in california a fair amount where i live, not so many downhill drifters but a lot of guys run 240s and s14s but have them tuned more for grip than drift since it gets them down the hill in the races a bit quicker. im condsidering getting a drift car soon but my touge civic comes first unfortunatly. i might buy a second hand 240 tho to start learning so techniques

Fender rubbing, perhaps? Cars are lowered with aftermarket (often larger and wider) rims.

Hmmm it MAY be the LSD...or more the lack of one....it's quite common to weld the Differential wich results in a 100% LSD....this is a very cheap modification and one of the obvious downsides is the permanent lock of the rear axle, so when doing narrow turns, park etc. you tires will screech, hop, rub and so on!
