This is why a lot of people recommend shotguns for home defense. If they're using something less than slugs, the rounds loose velocity a lot faster than bullets, and cause a lot less danger at long distances.

Yes, it does. One life saved by a gun is well worth it because the criminals will always have access to guns anyway. Those thousands of others who died had nothing to do with this incident anyway. I don't care how many other people die from gun violence as long as I am able to defend myself, my loved ones, and my property. That homeowner is a hero because he held of an attack by multiple gunmen and scored hits on their vehicle and possibly one of the assailants.

Those that banned guns for self defense saw sharp rises in robbery, home invasion and other violent crimes. But anti gun lobbies will always try to manipulate the data to make it sound like armed law abiding citizens are dangerous vigilantes. They're be shootouts in the streets! The reality is that its highly effective against crime, most of the time without ever having to use it.

Many people continue to fight, because there are alot of idiots here now that want to ban or restrict guns. I cant imagine living in a country where you cant defend your own life. In my country home owners are convincted when defending their property. Weapons are restricted for law enforcement and defense personnel only. The sad thing is that the police doesn't function very well. They have a low budget and are also low on personnel.
Basically good civilians in my country are sheeps locked in a cage with a wolf inside it.

A "suspect" is someone you don't know, haven't caught, didn't witness, & is more of a profile because it isn't a specifically known person.
A "perpetrator" is the person(s) who actually committed the crime, who you're watching commit the crime, a specific person you're looking for.
So on videotape, those committing the crime are the perpetrators. If you caught someone you think might be one of them, he is a suspect.

I'm a liberal, but I love it when home or store owners give the criminals what they deserve: A bullet in the brain. I have no sympathy for criminals. Law abiding and intelligent people should be allowed to protect their property and loved ones. So, yeah... shoot the criminals... and shoot to kill.

this is happening a lot in Arizona. Mexican/Hispanic drug runners are taking over homes for cash, vehicles, women, etc. It's called being prepared, and someone messing with the wrong house.

short story. My fifteen year old sister is home alone when she hears the man on the first floor open his door but not leave the building. Then she hears the steps creaking as he sneaks up the steps. Knowing where the guns are kept she retrieves a rifle.
You guess the ending. a) My sister sits helplessly as he breaks in and rapes her or B) She stands near door with the gun and, when she sees the doorknob start to turn, cycles the action, causing him to flee so fast he falls down the stairs.

Looked to me like that was an AR-15 clone with the 30rd mag, two 9mm or similar, and I could not see a fourth weapon. That was some serious hardware for a robbery, that homeowner was very lucky and very good. Props to him!

Looking on the hardware these pieces of garbage were carrying, there is no question that if that home owner HAD NOT BEEN ARMED, he and his family would have been dead... these days the street trash are less "merciful" and prefer not to leave living witnesses.

Do we condemn an object based on its purpose alone? Knives have one purpose - to cut. In the hands of a surgeon, they can cut out a tumor and save a life. In the hands of a thug, they can take a life.
Criminals will not obey the law or play fair when seeking to carry out their criminal acts. The solution is that citizens may defend themselves, their families, and their fellow man. This right is not given by the United States, only recognized. The right comes from above.

2) guns have one purpose. To kill. They should be restricted to people who need them (farmers & police).

ie: -The DC sniper's: (one was x-military) 2 men killed 10 people. -Columbine: 2 brothers killing 12 students and a teacher, as well as wounding 23 others. -VT: Seung-Hui Cho, killed 32 people and wounded many others.
As in the case of this vid, criminals will not face up against an armed person because the crime isn't worth dying over.

Actually firearm offences went down after the gun buy back. Its very rare to hear on the news of anyone firing a shot at another person. Its a much safer community knowing that no one has firearms. Don't you Americans get fearful that any one around you could have a gun and could use it over the smallest provocation. Americans seem so desperate to own firearms and to use them on others.

Just in the past week there have been several shootings resulting in the deaths of policemen and citizens. I read newspaper reports about gun owners becoming paranoid over the new gun laws that restrict assault and concealed weapons. Why should anyone be concerned that semi-automatic rifles are being taken away. Will their lives be at any more risk not having a firearm?

I don't know what you mean by "rarely". The FBI estimates guns are used 2.6 million times a year by americans for self defense. I have heard significantly higher figures, but the FBI number is undisputed. All the more reason that we should have the right to keep and bare arms.

Thats a stupid question. Are soldiers/police/bank guards at greater risk because they carry a gun? The greatest deterrent to professional criminals is the immanent threat of death, especially at the hands of trained responsible civilians.

If we take the guns out of America then that just means that the law abiding citizens dont have them, but the criminals still will which leaves us defenseless. Yes, it does. One life saved by a gun is well worth it because the criminals will always have access to guns anyway. Those thousands of others who died had nothing to do with this incident anyway. I don't care how many other people die from gun violence as long as I am able to defend myself, my loved ones, and my property. That homeowner is a hero because he held of an attack by multiple gunmen and scored hits on their vehicle and possibly one of the assailants.
