Beyonce screams her ass off, though has beautiful voice. But a loud mouth doesn't always sound good on everything.

Aaliyah would be 32 today, so she would've had matured enough to sing this, and her vocals would have had improved. She was very mature for her age at 22.

Anybody that KNOW Prince music this would automatically make you think of him you can tell one of his biggest influences are Prince because "Fast Car" & "Purple Kisses" and his version of "1 + 1" sound like something Prince would do the singing, the beat, & guitar you have to love this. Anybody that KNOW Prince music this would automatically make you think of him you can tell one of his biggest influences are Prince because "Fast Car" & "Purple Kisses" and his version of "1 + 1" sound like something Prince would do the singing, the beat, & guitar you have to love this. Dream does a good job with the amount of emotion and effort he puts in his music. Prince should definitely be flattered. Like everyone is saying he should've kept this one for himself. GOOD JOB! Thank goodness that Beyonce took this song to a whole 'nother level. His demo is mediocre at best...but he gave it to (or wrote it for) a woman that truly made it her own and sang it with such passion and intensity that it has to be one of her best!

Beyonce is a performing artist. She can sing it better perform it live better and she looks better. The Dream can write hella good. Beyonce can afford to pay The Dream enough to let her have the song and he still gets credit for writing it. There is also a producer involved. Its the way the industry works to eventually we receive the highest quality song.

Basically the way it works for Beyonce is this: Beyonce promotes the songwriters song to the highest degree, and in return, she gets to say that she "wrote" the song. So the songwriter essentially chooses between obscurity for his/her work versus having his/her work heard, getting more money for it, but getting little recognition for it.

The Dream is an artist as well, but most of his success comes from writing (I think he did Single Ladies and I know he did Mariah Carey's mega hit, We Belong Together)...music is an art that is usually collaborative...Dream didn't do it by himself either...pretty sure some musicans helped him out too...Bey interprets the lyrics through vocals better than many though

She didnt just change two or three words around, or one verse..I heard the dream's version of Hate U & the majority of the lyrics were re-written even the melody of how he sings some parts..She usually doesnt work with artists in this way but after 20 + years & becoming the SONGWRITER with the most hits i guess she wanted to stretch her ideas a little bit..He's an amazing writer tho!
