Hmmmm....not convinced that this test is all that accurate but I worked for Yamaha and bought an Etec- not because the Yamahas are bad- they are actually fantastic but for what I was doing and my boat, the etec was the best choice.

Carduelissal I dont always agree with the say made in usa e deita fora, i work in c 130 , they are about 40 years old , and there is nothing like it , not even the new c130 j, i also like the maglight , zippos, visegrip, optima batery, rancho dumpers, warn winches, but , for far less money you have duracell, bic,belzer,old man emu, tmax etc..., here a fisherman must work at least two years to save money for a outboard, and they cant aford to make a mistate,

@ruirosa2009 Well Buddy, I'm Italian but I live in the states, and I work on outboards everyday and yes yamaha and honda are top of the line motors, and are problematic compared to them. But because its made in USA its not bad dude, you know if your looking for speed there is nothing faster then a Mercury Optimax (thats American) but I mean Americans have built many things that helped the world. Idk how Portugal is but here we are still running Johnson Evinrude (OMC)outboard late 70s 80s motors

Fact: unfair prop comparison. You can blatantly hear the Yamaha bog down in rpm, ANY engine will bog if it has too much pitch in the prop! Gas engines only make higher HP in the higher RPM rev range so therefore put less pitch so the engine can spool up easier and quicker, and try again fellas.

Its like trying to start out in 2nd gear on a hill.

Ive run so many props and different engines, this scenario is obvious to me.

Ok let me shoot this to you guys, being a marine mechanic myself I'm going to tell you the secret. First thing they are putting it head to head to a 4stroke, the etec is 2 stroke direct injection, so if you really wanna compare it try with a Yamaha HPDI, or the fastest motor on the water the Merc optimax, then we can see who has the better hole shot and top speed.4strokes are heavy. So we you guys can make me a video vrs those I can judge the etec, and if its anything like a ficht.... Good luck!

this video is from official BRP webiste, it's full of shit, the E-TEC has more torque over the yamaha but the difference isn't that much, the Yamaha did not go full throttle. its illegal to make vids like that compare with other brands which is not accurate, they are lucky they don't recieve a lawsuit from Yamaha

I had 2x 90 hp Etecs on a commercial boat and they were awesome! Better than the 2x115hp 2 stroke yamahas I had later. Reason for the change? The yamahas had cheaper parts..

Video was totally staged, on top of that you can clearly her the sound of a two stroke not a four stroke while they ran the hole shot test, and no where close to full throttle. That yamaha had alot more left then what they showed. I've driven identical boats with both etec 250 and yamaha four stroke 250's the torque is alot closer between the two than what this staged video shows.

All these test are very easy to explain... the Yamaha is over proped.

My suzuki df90a is 30% more fuel effiecent planes quicker and runs 4mph faster than the same boat with a 90 etec. To top it all off It only weighs 6 lbs more and I dont have to burn $50 a gallon oil.

@turb0trk I agree, give yamaha a braek. but i think they did run at 1005 or whatever. but the thing is "chalk and cheese" most 4 strokes will do the same as the yamaha. a fair test would be against an optimax or yamaha hpdi. once the f225 eventually got on plane it would have run the same 30 mph too.

Realmente, ajuste do trim não muda nada na performance de um barco... Pelo visto não entendes nada mesmo! Qualquer um sabe que mudança de ângulo da rabeta influencia no arrasto e no tempo para o planeio. Mas está certo, eu não sei nada mesmo... eheheheh

Estou no meu segundo Etec, tenho um 200 hp hj, nenhum dos dois me deu problema algum, eu navego aguadoce e mar, direto.......Yamaha aqui nao tem comercio algum, ja tive um 4 tempos a cada 15 dias tinha que dar partida se nao travava os bicos...todos os 4 tempos tem esse inconveniente......Etec é o melhor motor de mundo com certeza

Two strokes run on a mixture of gas and oil they do no need oil changes you just need to put oil in the oil fill when you gas up

Altamente subjetivo o teste. Propaganda americana com muito conflito de interesse. Comparar um motor 2 tempos com um motor 4 tempos todos sabem que nao há correspondência, o 2 T tem mais torque. Sobre regulagem, RPM, ajuste do trim, nada foi comentado.
