I can't listen to his music too long...but I have much respect for him as he stays true to that thing that he likes...and that is playing a lot of notes...very very fast.

i think he mixes them up, and he definately uses outside notes aswell. he probably adds parts of one scale to another (like the first part of A dorian then adding the second half of c lydian, because they have the same notes and would work well).
