This closed back in January for referbishment. I was there the day before it closed and was on of the last people on it. All they are doing is putting in new ride vehicles, some referbishment to Harold, and referbishing the outside of the mountain.

I went on this ride back in 1970 when I was 11 and visiting relatives in California. I haven't been back to California since, so this brings back such vivid memories of that ride, my favorite. The yehtis must have been added, because I don't recall them at all. That uphill climb is awesome!

When I go with my sister who's 7 right now I pretty much suffocate her when we're on rides like this. I don't know why but I feel like she storing to fall out. My dad never did that

@BerryBomber2 No. Just based off of Matterhorn Mountain. The ride was conceived by Walt Disney after various trips to the Swiss Alps where he was amazed by Matterhorn Mountain. He hoped to somehow create an attraction that was based off of this. That's partly how the Matterhorn ride came to be.

@PuppyLoveCharlie The maximum speed of Matterhorn Bobsleds is 27 mph (43.5 km/h) and the drop height of Splash Mountain is 52.5 feet (16 meters, five-storeys) with a 47 degree angle. I haven't been to Knotts so I can't compare but basically internet searches say that Matterhorn is actually a little slower than Jaguar and the drop at Splash Mountain is shorter than Perilous Plunge but Splash Mountain's angle is steeper. I personally like both Matterhorn and Splash Mountain!

after going to disneyland like 5 times i finally went on the matterhorn. i used to think it would be scary (track layout wise) omg i cant believe i was afraid of that ride, embarrassing to think about it now. same thing with magic mountain, i always heard it was fun. now its my favorite ride of all time even compared to mega steel track coasters ive been on. its definitely a treat to experience.

@chilichick39 That is a drag when that happens. I was lucky enough to get on it the last day before its refurbishment. It's supposed to reopen September 1, but there is talk that the bobsleds themselves will be different (no option for two people in one space, for one).
