the idea is good, but the examples in the vid sucked... the first cut was way to obvious and a shit song to mix to from "Get ready for this".

The second fade in was better but still obvious. Personally i think you should've cued it just past the "i had a dream last night" so that its at the start of the synth already. Wouldn't have been as obvious, and maybe add an effect to disguise it..

Anyway the ideas are right so its not a bad vid to learn from, just couldve been shown better imo.

u simply can't mix hiphop with trance by beatmatching

and if there are 10 people who want youto play 20 different songs it may become a bit difficult. on air you don't have this pressure

Very good call brietzmann - you can't please everyone at a party or wedding etc where there are loads of different aged people/musical tastes etc. Propa dance events are much easier in this regard coz you've generally got people there who love the same type of music and dont have idiots coming up every 2 seconds asking for Korn or some shit when the girls are trying to dance!!

i see where your coming from, but i think no matter what genre it is its better to beat match initially so people hear theres a mix than fade it back out cue it up at the normal pace 'off mix' wait a for the tune playing to drop into an area with no beat whiles throwing the next tune in! that way you can say you mixed the tune, no matter how slow or fast a tune may of sounded i think if its in mix than its good. but there are all sorts of ways to change genre! what ever suits you i suppose

i watch your videos all the time and personally i think your a great tutor but try making good use of you fisheye lense and lift the camera up and angle it a little but forward so you dont have to bend over and you can still see the mixing board clearly
