Thankyou for posting, but how sad that this single incident which was badly handled by EMI-Decca has given young music-lovers the impression that all of Flagstad's high-C's were sung by Schwarzkopf! Fortunately, I was given an opportunity to confront this in a program for Swedish classical radio (P2) from 1995, which was aired on July 12, 1995, the 100th anniversary of Flagstad's birth.
I agree with DemisLian. I believe that this rendition of this part of Brunhilde's Awakening is from the 1951 Sebastian (Philharmonia Orchestra) I have the recording (Seraphim 60082). I have listened to this particular rendition many times and the selection here is as stated by DemisLian. The intertwining of the voices, particularly at the end, is sublime.
Beautiful rendition, with Flagstad's and Svanholm's voices successfully highlighting the majestic and romantic nature of the music. (What a beautiful high C from Schwarzkopf at the end!)

Her timbre was indeed that of an ideal wagnerian soprano.

@edgbusk Nilsson at the end she had last her low register because she was more lyrical than the full heroic and dramatic Flagstad
Flagstad became more mezzo dramatica at the end

@VivaRenata I always thought this happened with the 1951 Tristan only. Did they do it to more than one recording?

violinthief, I dont know who you are but the recordings of Kirsten Flagstad are just magical.
The weight and quality of her voice are peerless for Wagner.
Thanks a million times.

Flagstad here is glorious. Nilsson sounds as a child in front of Flagstad

I think it is a studio recording of the final duet from July 1951 with the Philharmonia Orchestra under Georges Sebastian.
