  • Halford's voice was so amazing back when he was young and fresh.

  • Rob looks a bit like David Bowie here

  • @nri222 he fucking does! I think we are all confused due to the lack of LEATHER baby! Gonna see them in Dallas in Oct....... Priest Lives ON!!!!!!

  • wish this was good quality it would be fucking epic beyond any level of awesome conceivable.

  • Les Binks on drums, awesome!!!!

  • Best live performance of all time? Either way, they are definitely one of the all time greatest on-stage performers.

  • Beyond the Realms Of Death and Dreamer Deceiver are both kick ASS!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @2WickedDudes and sinner...

  • BEST FUCKIN METAL BALLAD EVER!!

  • Kicks my ass every time I play this song!! If you can't feel this songs' turmoil, you have no pulse.

  • The best song that Judas Priest ever done! such a epic piece of music.

  • @TurboThrash I Agree. It´s a brilliant master piece. Fucking awesome. And this performance was out of this world. LOVE IT!!!

  • 7 people don't know shit about music

  • The best Judas Priest song ever! just so epic.

  • "Yeah! I've left the world behind

I'm safe here in my mind

Free to speak with my own kind

This is my life, this is my life

    I'll decide not you"

    Discribes exactly my life.

  • He looks like Bowie but rips Bowie's head clean off.

  • szeretlek CSACSI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • My Favorite Judas Priest Song

  • Is Les Binks playing drums? The writer of this song....along with rob....but think Les came up with the guitar riff.

  • I know Glenn was dope on this track and has been rated high on the all time greats on the axe but DAMN don't sweat on KK.

  • @SpecialKaa He's great, but his tone can be a little harsh at times.

  • God, this is good, I too am of the belief that the 1970s was priests best time. There was so much meaning to all these songs. Makes me wonder how much of an issue euthanasia was in the 1970s. Asuming that is what this song is about. Glenn's solo is also awesome, this may be his best although he has so many good ones.

  • @corm1000 Priest needs to play in it's entirety the Sad Wings/ Sin after Sin records live, i think that would be great.

  • "Great to see live vids of Priest in their "pre-stereotypical metal band" days."

I find that statement funny due to the fact the "stereotype" is based on and was created by Judas Priest.(-: \m/ Spinal Tap is basically a Judas Priest parody.

Videos like this is where I can really see them blending the sounds of Zepplin and Sabbath with the visuals and choreography of British glam rock. It is amazing how much they pioneered as far as what heavy metal evolved in to.

  • @ToyGunnTube I know, but you gotta admit they look really cool opposed to their current look.

  • "Great to see live vids of Priest in their "pre-stereotypical metal band" days."

I find that statement funny due to the fact the "stereotype" is based on and was vreated by Judas Priest.(-: \m/ Spinal Tap is basically a Judas Priest parody.

  • Great to see live vids of Priest in their "pre-stereotypical metal band" days.

  • What a great performance.

  • Wholly shit..where'd this come from?? Super rare.

  • The Stairway To Heaven of metal... only much better.

  • Its the entire BAND Grandfathers of ALL Modern Metal Yeah I am 39 same age as them.

    Excellent !!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @TheTimenow1 sorry but rob halford is a lot older than 39 im 34 and i was born in 1976and they were already playing then.hes in his 50s,late 50s

  • Best Song, Best Vocals, Best Solo, Best 2 Guitar Players, Best Drummer They Had, Love Scott Tho, Best Bass Player, PRIEST!!!!

  • pleasr2kill.thanx alot, i listened to stained class a couple months ago and then i realized there arent many people out there like you who understand what metal really is about .it became my second favorite album ever right behind sad wings of destiny. And unleashed in the east is the best live album for heavy metal.

  • does anyone know what city this is taped in i know ots 1978 but i would like to know where, england????

  • II6buIIetI, The year was 1978 the album was stained class. A true classic listen to the studio version this recording Is a little warped. but cool listen to unleashed In the east probably the best live album ever check it out!

  • i am so fuckin bored with all this gay business... every halford/priest clip i see it's the same story. sh*t you even make me mention it again. who said being gay is wrong, and who said you can't be the best metal singer ever and gay at the same time? please, all you finger pointers and insecure homophobics... SHUT UP! and think...

  • who cares if he was gay,he was a great singer of a great band we have to get past our biasis for a better world.you anti -gay nazi racist bastardscan fuck off.

  • fucking perfect

  • fucking perfect

  • Fuc**ng perfect! Tipton is divine and Halford is a god among men.

  • Now called a "By-Gone" Era.

  • love it!

  • I would kill to have seen this show

  • Krysta! 5 : 37 - 5:47 will blow your mind

  • 5:37- 5:47 Holly F...!! Supreme metal goodness.

  • what year was it?can tell me more about it?please

  • @II6bulletII 78

  • challenge anyone to listen to this and not get chills. a classic.

  • Tipton was a professional musician ... But without K.K Priest would vanish from the music scene soon after a few years . I mean , Priest was a perfect team and without any of the 4 old guys it wouldn't turn out into Metal Gods :P

  • Comment removed

  • Hell yeah my favorite judas song with victim of changes a close second seen priest

4 times metal gods rule \m/

  • Judas Priest's Stairway to Heaven?

  • incredible solo, incredible voice, incredible band! one of my favourites!! :)

  • Screech Master

  • yeah, evil55, nice one, man.

  • back in the rob with hair days...classic

  • Damn, Glenn even nailed that harmonic at the end of the solo. Classic.

    Rob's singing is unreal.

  • It`s phuckin great to see Halford in his prime. It`s worth the very average video to hear the Metal Gods from iver 30 years ago. Major props to Evil 55 for posting it.

  • I remember a long time ago seeing these future metal gods open for Frank Marino and Mahogany Rush in Fresno, CA. Nobody knew who they were. They just came on stage and did what you see here and just stunned everybody. Nobody walked out of there not a converted Priest fan. I remember going to Tower Records and asking about them and they didnt even have an LP to sell. Not until Hell Bent For Leather was released did I see Stained Class even show up on the shelves.

  • What was KK's gear setup, his tone was great!

  • I saw this tour and it fuckin' rocked!.....bought tix the same nite of the show and sat in the 8th row!....kicked all forms of ass!

  • greatest metal vocalist of all time.

  • @neutonik hes more then that......hes to be remembered for ever 1000s of years from now and tell our kids and grandkids about judas priest and generations on so no body ever forgets about him

  • STARIIIING INTO THE SPACE! - EPIC!

  • Wow what a vintage awesome video , tyvm

  • This is not just a vintage video, this gives so much pleasure that it's a SIN. so this is more like Vintage porn

  • where did you get this from?

  • Kosei-Nenkin Hall 7-31-1978?

  • I think that Fade to Black by Metallica is kind of inspired by this Judas Priest track. Also, I think this is one of Judas Priest's best tracks.

  • Excuse me, darling...!

    Remember Tomorrow = 1980

Beyond The Realms of Death = 1978

  • @omersy92

i think this IS their best track- that solo by glenn is mindblowing.

  • JudasPriest

  • Rob at his best! This was the time when he was a really awesome vocalist! Probably one of the best back in the day...

  • This version, among with other cool pro-shot bootlegs can be found in the bootleg-torrent called "Judas Priest - Visual Metalogy".

The quality of the sound and picture is much much better.

Go get it! Not illegal to download since its a bootleg!

  • sick song, sick version, all the right notes.

  • Halford

  • world's best heavy metal singer!

  • My all time favorite song

  • @brunomoital Very wise man

  • how long ago??

  • 1978

  • great song

  • fuckin japs tape every thing!

  • Best. Version. EVER.

  • all these priest in japan videos suddenly on youtube, amazing, never saw any of this, great, thanks :-)

  • A great performance, I'm really lost for words. Especially the vocals are so fucking intense!

  • holy shit that's old like me!!!!!!

  • Interesting note that Binks came up with the guitar riff for this song.

  • A lot people now suggest though that Les Binks actually stole the main riff from Styx's "Suite Madame Blue", which it really is the same chords except the last 2 notes are reversed. But in any case, even if they DID steal it, they certainly did a way better version of it lol. The guitar solo is one of the greatest ever written in the history of guitar.

  • I've never heard or read of this accusation, but thanks for the info.Yeah, Tipton's solo is Classic, but I also enjoy KK's lead near the end.

  • Check the two out, it's one of those " You be the judge" issues. Like Zeppelin stealing Spirit's Taurus for Stairway to Heaven. Like I said though, I still stick with Priest even if they did take the riff lol.

  • I always heard that Les Binks just grabbed a guitar (upside down for some reason) and just played the notes.

Also I agree that this is by far one of the best guitar solos EVER written..it's just unreal

  • Rockin' version. Trippy.

  • So old, so classic... so brilliant !

The best Judas Priest song ever !!!

  • I saw this tour when they played Bristol Colston Hall. Brilliant.

  • All right, cool dude.

  • This is true Rock Opera. To all the elitest classical music fans, mozart and beethoven would have applauded Judas Priest, so shove it up your pie holes.

  • What a GEM!

  • Arguably one of the best solo's ever in a song.

  • Rob's outfit is hilarious but the performance is still amazing though.

  • ICON!

  • Being British like me, Glen Tipton's monika probably shoudn't bear close scrutiny. But the guitar solo on this track makes up for all the strange hairstyles, big noses, yellow teeth and features in not quite the right place that the British do so well. I'm very proud of him for that.

  • INCREDIBLE

  • OTTO- "Everything's just a rippoff of Priest, man."

  • Metal Gods!

  • Shame the cameraman appears to be allergic to Glenn Tipton, who provides the breathtaking lead guitar here.

  • Yeah really.....This video would be perfect if it wasn't for that retarded cameraman NOT filming Glenn Tipton during the solo.

That bugged the shit out of me!

But I'm glad to see 70's Stained Class era Priest.

If I would have seen this video when I was 14 years old ...A Judas Priest fanatic and a Stained Class obsessed freak......I would have jumped through my skin or had a stroke.

  • solo of this song is marvelous

  • Stop comparing Judas Priest with anything, nothing can compare.

    This song is extremely beautiful

  • Memories - I had this as a B-side to the 12 inch single of Evening Star in clear vinyl - played it 100's of times - shame about the poor audio quality or do I need a new PC ?

  • Does anyone know thw set list from this tour. Any Dreamer Deceiver ?

  • The only problem I have with this is Rob's outfit. I know the man is gay however that outfit is screaming it. I know the leather get up has some gay connotations to it also however it does look cool and Halford isn't the same without it.

  • hehe, anyone in metal scene refused to see it at that time, but I think music is what matters. I was disapointed when I first knew, but after I had to accept, 'cause I just couldn't let to like their music. Same happened about Queen

  • well that explains his inexplicable high notes.....!

  • It was the 70's man

And for the one underneath me

    you forget

these people were the metal and alternative scene at the time

they dress differently to us but it's because over the generations we have had to outdo ourselves and rebel further then the past ones.

  • Have a look at Ol' Ozzy. He still dresses like that, it was just before metal had a real look. Judas Priest wore leather first with the world tour supporting Stained class, and then most of black sabbath took the look, then Dio, then the NWOBHM,then everyone did. Now its disappearing because the youngin's think its gay. You maybe completely right, but you're denying the history of metal by not wearing it.

  • You can tell queensryche were listening to this. one of their best songs. Who played drums on this tour? Thanks for posting this .

  • Les Binks i believe

  • imo the solo is just as good or better than the one on stairway to heaven, tipton and downing are fucking godz long live the gods

  • Good God ALMIGHTY...I LOVE youtube. This video should be right up there with the Zapruder film! This is Rob Halford in his PRIME! I can't wait until youtube posts Moses parting the Red Sea!!!!

  • ever watched starbreaker or exciter from this concert? I can't believe how he manages to sing those songs perfectly live. Halford taught God how to sing

  • Damn that's a lot of reverb on the vocals!!! Great version though.

  • The acoustic part at the beginning sounds like Black Diamond by KISS.

  • not acoustic lol

  • despite the bad quality this is one of the best versions i've seen!

  • Man why didn't Les Binks stay with them, his playing is way better than Dave Holland's and he didn't touch up kiddies either.

  • Classic!!!

  • awesome

  • One of my fav JP videos. This is just before they changed their image to leather & spikes. I actually met him when he released his first 'Fight' cd. A total metal icon! Nice guy too.

  • What did he say when you met him during his Fight era?

  • It was over 10 years ago and I don't remember exactly. I just remember him being gracious and well spoken. I was probably a little star-struck too. He was really tall and I got a good look at the tattoos on the sides of his head. I had KNAC cup for him to sign and my friend had a copy of Painkiller. He's the only rock star I ever met.

  • Awesome. Thanks.

  • And you are lucky.

Even though I'm not gay, if I ever met Halford, I'd let him fuck me until I came.

  • id fuck him and make him sing

  • if you could make out the video, a cross between queen or bowie. halford one of the greatest voice from the heavy metal world, awesome solo work and song.

  • Is it just me or I'm seeing Queen influences everywhere in this period of Judas Priest?

  • Well Freddie was his absolute hero...he has the whole discography on his iPod

  • Are you kidding? Are you stupidly making a homophobic joke or something? How would ya know what Rob has on his iPod. Although, in an interview for Vh1, Rob did say he was a fan of Queens music

  • Actually, the only influence I see from Queen in this vid is the outfit that Rob is wearing. Freddie wore something similar in Queens early career

  • Hmm, I think you should listen with more attention. The changes in the pace of the song, the theatricality, the dynamics, all this reminds Queen's early albums. Listen to some other songs like "Call For The Priest" or "Sinner" and you will hear a strong Queen influence.

  • I agree that Call of the Priest does sound like Queen. The only part of Sinner I hear that is similar to Queen is Rob's overdubbed vocals. That is all

  • I will but first...go suck a dick and die

  • piss off u redneck cunt

  • settle down crackhead,,the comment wasn't even directed at you

  • i do apoligise. Btw they should release a live version of this song as a bonus track on a priest cd its awesome

  • they don't make guitar solos like that anymore

  • Uff 1978. One of my judas favorite songs ever.

    Thanks for share this.

  • Mine too. As a matter of fact, I recently purchased the 2001 remastered version of Stained Class @ Best Buy along with Sin After Sin. Awesome examples of early, pre-fame, Priest! Metal gods, indeed

  • Mine too

  • Ya know, this could make a great promo film.

In fact if you think about it, the way that he is singing the lyrics is almost identical

    to the studio version.

  • Huh!?

  • I kid you not, it really is

  • This is your fave Priest song? Sorry, didn't understand UR previous comment

  • Yes it is. What I mean is, that this

version, could be synced up to the CD version to make it into a Promo Film.

  • Well, ya said mine too. Don't know what ya was referring to

  • I'd say this is not live video synced with original recording audio. Listen to the choruses and note also missing vocal harmonies in the 3rd verse. This is either pure live recording or a studio 'live' recorded for this purpose specifically (like Unleashed in the East).

  • Raw talent and skill

  • None better.
