@thekycoffeebean - It's my massive muscles.... (o: No it isn't that hard though. Low enough you can really put your sholder into it and it's a breeze.
@rae1968 - You could!! Set it on course (better stated - don't tighten the stones too tight) and there ya go! Need nice dry white corn though - or use yello and it's polenta!
Hi! Mmmmm look at all that vitamin E! You taught me that ; ) I'm in Canada so the shipping for heavy weight items is very high form the US, it's a shame. I was looking at your wonderful site last week. I realized I have so much to learn! You did a great job on explaining how nutritious the wheat grain should really be. I was wondering how hard a manual mil would be to use. Doesn't look as hard as I thought! About how long would it take to do a cup?
Yay for vitamin E! We are missing so much in the SAD (Standard American Diet) - pretty sure the whole of the western world is - so Canada is too!
To manual-mill 1 C with this mill takes no more than 2-3 minutes (o: Remembering that most bread recipes take approx 3.5 C for one loaf - that's around 10 min MAX.
It's also a calorie burner - so we can enjoy fresh butter on our bread after using this mill with ZERO guilt (o:
Thanks for that. I need to get a manual mill and had no idea where to start. I also love that it will do peanuts & flax! I make my own peanut butter & my food processor does okay, but not great. Plus I have flax seed, and don't have anything to grind them with! My electric is a wondermill, so I trust you are right and that is top quality....now I just have to scare of up the money!
I did a demo of this along with an electric mill and this actually made a more fine flour than the electric!
I love that it's adjustable for courseness.
Admittedly I prefer my food processor for peanut butter - but love that this does mill sprouted grains (steel burrs) and more because of the two milling head choices.
WonderMill is an awesome company and made in the USA!
The last demo I did, a 4 year old and a 7 year old did the hand-cranking of it and the flour was still very fine - so you know it was set pretty tight.
I think their Mom loved that it might tucker them out a bit that day - (o:
I bet the mom was happy. My sister is always really happy when I wear out my nephew. She even called it her parenting philosophy (wear them out and send them to bed)
Thanks for all the wonderful videos and inspiration

Can I use this to get stone ground grits?
rae1968 1 year ago
Yes!
You would need dry hominy (white corn_ or use yellow corn and make polenta (which really is just yellow grits).
Hope this helps!
