  • damn those rats have giant balls...literally

  • Foods of the God Corporations: Monsanto corporation is a company pretending to be God, by patenting geneticly altered foods. . Montanto markets "Terminator" corn seed and patented industrial animal feed corn. "Researchers found that Monsanto's GM corn is linked to organ damage in rats. "McNuggets are 56 percent corn (corn batter, corn sweetener, corn starch, etc). McNuggetts also contain industrial fire retardants(tertiary butylhydroquinone).

  • "For a taste of Hell...Rated PG"

  • "...for a taste of HELL!! ... rated PG". :D

  • this looks so awesome

  • A fun, underrated cult horror classic.

  • @TheAltair4

I thought this was a bad movie and needs a remake badly to be more faithful to HG Well's story

  • @Johnlindsey289 Maybe, but it's still a lot of fun to me and isn't to be taken too seriously.

  • @Johnlindsey289 they made an even more dreadful sequel a few years ago, i think they played on its bad movie legacy than anything and hoped the sequel would succeed on that wave, it was simply forgettable as the original was made as serious explotation that simple looked laughable and so became cult.

i hate it when bad novies are made to be bad, hoping to be cult! so bad movies they are good like this one are born not manufactured!!!

  • @jackscal1

Would you like to see a remake?

  • @Johnlindsey289 i`m indifferent, as the original is such a cult classic, the remake would be just flashy special effects and no substance, this is a bad movie at a time when money was a limit, it has charm and a few faded movie stars thrown in for value, i dislike the bad movies of today that have 1st class effects yet are simply dull, i think they need to really base it totally on the book and keep it in period if it is to work as a remake in its on merit!

  • @jackscal1

That's right a re-adaptation. Did you know The Thing was a remake and re-adaptation of the novel than teh 1951 movie?

  • @Johnlindsey289 the remake of the thing was outstanding, not only for its effects not using computer but electronic still terrifies, the move to the original plot helps it stand out from the 1st.

im not so struck on ape history being rewritten by the new "conquest" revision, to me thats tampering with movie folklore, again flashy effects and trendy plot that will never be as remembered as the 1972 much cheaper and simpler version.

  • @jackscal1

Remaking bad films is a great idea and this could be it since this movei is a turkey

  • but if this is ready for a remake, then what of "night of the lepers", do we need new killer bunnies?

  • @jackscal1

Yes a remake of NOTL is needed as we need the rabbits to be creepy and sharp teethed instead of looking like rare projected rabbits and gory as well. Eli Roth should do it

  • I use to get this movie mixed up with Night of the Lepus.

  • Unlike other movies I saw as a child, like "The Exorcist," "The Omen," "Jaws," etc., at 10, this movie made me have nightmares for a week! I suppose it was the possibility, in a child's mind, that rats, wasps, and other creatures, "COULD" actually grow and attack people!?!? Dunno! But, what I DO KNOW is that this flick made me hear the pitter-patter of rats running about as I was in my bed, and, made me want to stay up and watch boring, adult T.V. like "Bob Newhart" and "Mary Tyler Moore." :(

  • I remember watching this movie when i was 7 or 8. Guess thats why i dont like rodents

  • Seems like HG Wells had a problem with... size.

  • great effects

  • H.G. Wells. classic sci-fi.better than all his other books.needs a great director 2 bring it 2 the big screen.how many of u have read the book?

  • Hey are those rodents from Brooklyn?

  • Fantastic book, crappy movie. I think they made this one to compete with Night of the Lepus.

  • i was hoping this was based on the terence mckenna book.

  • @kishbass me too....

  • Classic-one of my favorite movies

  • Just another anti-laws-of-physics movie. Think of a Giraffe and why it has a strong lower body and long skinny neck. The legs of any insect that big would be crushed under its own weight. Rodents maybe, but not huge wasps. This movie is fun to watch, old school effects are just way more creative.

  • Awesome cheesy 70's flick. See Empire of the ants for a double feature !

  • fuck CGI. it ruins every movie for me. oldschool handmade effects FTW!

  • more like "Attack of the R.O.U.S.s"

  • Saar it's not as good as Starcrash!!!

  • Should remade as "Satin's Meals for Sinners."

  • more like 'Forced Perspective of the Gods'

  • If you've ever had pet rats, the 'giant' rat climbing in the dollhouse window (and the cute little ratties bumbling around on the 'porch') is, like, the funniest thing ever. :)

  • @jensmusicfaves just one of the charms about this great movie. From one scene where rats are nonchalantly crawling around the house as though they just want to be loved and petted to another where they're headbutting through 4x6 joists, rabidly looking for the first human to tear apart...

...talk about great continuity. A true masterpiece.

  • OMG I remember wanting to see this movie so bad, we finally went to see it in a drive in, back than it was cool LOL....

  • @readynow12345 Great reference!! Food of the Gods at the drive-in??? That would be better than Christmas!!

I envy you. That is simply awesome.

  • Marjoe Gortner sucks!

  • I have to watch it again after about 15 years :D

  • For a taste in hell, rated PG?!?!?!? Are they nuts over at the mpaa?!??!?! This movie ought to be rated R for doggone sure by the sounds of it!!!!!

  • Somebody should remake this.

  • I remember seeing this as a kid in the early 80s. I'm shocked this was not rated R for the time!

  • Proof that CGI has always sucked.

  • @BillionDollarZombie except for the fact that CGI wouldn't be invented for another 15 years...

  • @brujaria whats a computer?

  • @brujaria CGI was around in the late 70's and 80's.

  • @BillionDollarZombie CGI does not suck thank you very much it has open up a new king of special effects like jurassic park and dead mans chest so wach what you say man okay

  • So, according to the trailer, it is The Food of Gods that is H.G. Wells masterpiece? I don't know how much I can agree about that.

  • @Snurremegrundt "So, according to the trailer, it is The Food of Gods that is H.G. Wells masterpiece? I don't know how much I can agree about that"

"hey, If Tommy Wiseau can compare The Room to a Tennessee Williams novel, who's to stop them from comparing this the HG. Wells. " Heh, Heh.

  • For a taste in hell rated pg lol

  • eh if ya wanna drive Bensington's car it's right there heres the keys I'm sure he woun't mind !!!

  • Cheezy cheese: The Food of the Godless cheap groovy oldschool special effect movies.

  • My Mom took me to see this in the theater when I was 10. :)

  • HOLY WOW! Yes, this film also gave me the creeps...the huge hornets. UGH! And the movie "The Car"!!! That honking horn after it jumps through the house and kills that lady. I can STILL hear that horn sometimes when I am drifting off to sleep. I am 40, and it still haunts me! LOL

  • @BelfastBailey I hear you! I saw this movie and The Car when I was like 10. I loved The Car!!

  • Rated PG for a taste of Hell. LOL

  • Rated HG... for a taste of Wells!

  • @Capng123 Well put my friend.

  • I saw this movie at the drive-in with my family when I was 11!

  • Same here. When I was 9, this movie warped my mind!. I didn't sleep for a few days.

  • @TheMarshall67 omg me either! i was terrified. but went through the same thing with the movie The Car 1977 lol

  • Such a great movie! I miss oldschool broadcast TV.

  • i like the way they made the rats look so real it was a low budget film i have it on dvd

  • Here in Brasil have a lot of these rats... on senate and congress !!

  • Same here in the United States

  • A taste of hell? How about a taste of cheese since this movie has plenty of it.

  • This is coming on Svengoolie tonight! Can't wait for the fun.

  • Svengoolie? You must be from Chicago and watching the show on Channel 26 (WCIU). I too love watching Svengoolie.

  • Yeah I try not to miss Svengoolie, every Saturday at 9pm.

  • aw man i am from the southside of the chi and I remember soaking my finger after a dog bit my azz watching the son of Svengoolie. Berwynn Berwynn, LOL!!!

  • This scenario is currently playing out all around the USA . . . growth hormones in meat and dairy products are creating GIANT (clinically obese) HUMANS!

  • The PG part is because the PG-13 rating didn't exist yet, and there wasn't any violent sex or sexy violence.

I've read "Food of the Gods,' and this depiction only covers the first five chapters of it. There's a LOT more to it than giant animals.

  • The narrator is always serious but also always turns out to be funny

  • FOR A TASTE OF HELL.....

    (rated PG)

    lolol

  • The narrater is so funny.. so serious.. the funniest line is at the end.." For a taste of hell " rated pg..lol

  • This movie gave me nightmares at age 2

  • lol how is dis rated pg!?!?

  • Is that Rod Serling doing the narration?

  • I know he died in 1976, but I am not sure if it is before or after the movie's release. It does not sound like him in this trailer.

  • This is what Genetically Modified Foods (GMO's) will do to the world soon...

  • I loved this movie when I was a kid....

  • Me too! lol

  • I remember seeing this at the drive-in when I was a kid!

  • Warning: watch out for any movie that magnifies real animals.

I love how the narrator at 0:50 says "Food of the Gods -- for a taste of Hell" in almost a cheery way.

  • I love my Hell all tasty 'n' everything!

  • Giant rats would be the best thing ever...I'd start up a ranch!

  • Should be a sequel called "Feast of the Damned."

  • terrence kckena wrote a book based pn this

  • hahaha what the hell? those big chicken sure look sacary hahaha

  • The craziest/funniest thing about this is that they really blast the shit out of live rats (probably w/ a pellet gun) during the fight scenes. Who got THAT job?

  • where did they get so many giant rats? and why is it called food of the gods if its about oversized pests?

  • It's actually about this crap that comes up out of the ground (I don't remember if it was a natural chemical or some kind of toxic waste) that the local yokel farmers feed to their livestock to make them grow jumbo sized. There's giant rats, a giant chicken, a giant insect...

  • I remember my buddy and I hitchhiking into the city to see this movie when it opened in 1976. It scared the crap out of us back then. Now with today's effects, it is more of a comedy. Still a classic though that holds a special place in my heart.

  • outstanding special effects!!!

  • YEAH

they should continue to do some effect for real then just use the computer to refine the realness. as long as the shot is real it will have a more intense effect. thats why this movie was so crazy

  • Bert I Gordon is great! And still attends HORROR conventions when he is like 80 yrs old like Stuart Gordan bringing H.P.Lovecraft to the screen and Roger Corman bringing E.A.Poe Bert gave us H.G.Wells

  • I found this movie on dvd just today I think I'll get it and see for myself:)

  • dem chickens in the shed are gangsta..baby...the big spider sucks cock for the council

  • I thought that shot where the rat climbed into the kitchen was pretty cool...

  • For a taste of hell!

    (Rated PG)

  • Where can I get one of these giant rats? I could put a saddle on it, it would be awesome!

  • 00:42 GIANT RAT BALLS!

  • I used to love this movie. I feel sorry for kids these days - random local network channels used to show all kinds of crazy stuff.

  • I wish they still did that :(

  • I remember getting all hyped up

about the movie when I was a kid.

The giant chicken was best scene,

imagine drumsticks a big as a car.

I would like to see a Food Of The Gods

video game, with all the elements for

the movie. A Resident Evil-like game

    but without the zombies.

Zombies are being a bit overdone these days.

  • Is this a non rhyming poem or something? The format is strange.

  • that would be a cool game...expand on the film and make this a global event...giant lions, polor bears...every animal on earth.you are part of an international group sent to different locations to eliminate threats.

  • Why isn't the trailer on the dvd?

  • bert gordon never changed; he was making movies like this for aip way back in the 1950s. (and, i'm sure h.g. welles would have loved this movie).

  • FANTASTIC!

  • i think that chicken was a dubplate

  • which one was with that big dude pile driving that woman.

  • "food of the gods, for a taste of hell... rated PG" LMAO

  • "rated PG" lol.

They dont make films like they used to.

  • I don't believe the situation of humans fighting for there lives against rats would happen.

Rat are friendly if you treat them right.

I believe, at that size rats would be more productive.

Like pulling stuff or maybe used as transportation around the farm.

  • its just a movie, besides, rodents suck.

  • you suck.

  • not as much as rodents

  • the giant chicken in this is brill!

  • this is so kool i havent seen this in thirty years, what a classic camp film

  • Were any animals harmed in the production?

  • Probably, since there weren't any industry standards for animal rights then. In many of the western the horses were really hurt. Hard to believe that rodeos and suicide runs(Calgary Stampede, etc.) are still legal

  • Who cares....Great flick!

  • I agree. Pamela Franklin made great movies. I love "The Innocents"!

  • Pamela Franklin was cute in The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie! i.e. the one with the glasses.

  • I have just finished downloading Miss Jean Brodie. She appears on nude!!!!

  • pamela franklyn is a babe, she should have been a bigger star

  • Someone should upload this.

  • I vividly remember this movie along with Squirm during the '80's. It's so convincing then to see giant hordes of rats attack.

  • I was 7 when I saw it at the theater (my older sisters took us). I loved it! Though it did scare the beejeezus out of me at the time.

  • That would play on tv and I'd beg my parents to take me to see it. They thought it'd be too scary for me (I was only about seven at the time). My brother saw it and swore the hero looked just like me. LIAR!

  • I was 12 when I saw it. My older sis took me to see it... Your parents were right. I had nightmares for a week afterwards. Freaked the heck out of me.

  • I was 12 also when I saw this back in 76. My older brother took me to see it. Saw it with a double feature with Empire of the Ants.

  • I'll take the Wells story myself.

  • rofl

  • Great trailer! Now bring on GNAW!

  • I was thinking the same thing. I used to have a trailer for that on a couple of different tapes, but I'll be damned if I can find one now.
