  • its any music owned by warner, go on wiki and look at the acts signed by them and then all of that music is a no go!

  • Comment removed

  • Definitely ridiculous. I had a few of my older videos not taken down but muted due to music on them but it was right, I suppose. Not like this.

  • Yeah, it's pretty crazy. Thanks for the comment!

    -- Matt

  • Actually that video was taken down but it was challaged..

  • It's really getting out of hand. Where will it end. Pretty soon no one will be able to listen to any music ever, anywhere, except MAYBE in your own home. WTF!!!!!!???????

    great comment Matt! yay!

    Paul

  • Nice video Matt!

I have one, actually two to describe the situation

    Greed. And Stupidity.

  • Very true! Thanks, Heather!

    -- Matt

  • Thanks, Larry!

  • Why does everything have to be about money? Recording studios overcharged people for music for years. And since the digital age when everyone starting file sharing and downloading, i say they are getting what they deserve!

  • Yeah, it's funny how we never hear these recording companies talk about the class action lawsuit against them a few years ago for price-fixing CD prices, isn't it? Great point! Thanks!

    -- Matt

  • Insanity man. Insanity. Stupid is too kind a word.

  • Exactly! Thanks, Gerry!

    -- Matt

  • I was wondering how soon something like this would happen...

  • It's that crazy, wild world where corporations are so blinded with greed that they charge themselves with infringment! LOL!

    Thanks, Billy! Yayy!!!

  • Do you realize

    YouTube has stupid copyright rules?

Matt, as a Flaming Lips fan myself (despite At War with the Mystics) should I procure their latest LP? Is it worthy?

  • Hi Wyrd! I don't have the new CD, yet, but the first song released sounds pretty good. Thanks! Yayy!!!

    -- Matt

  • This is Madness!!

  • It sure is. Thanks, Evil! Yayy!!!

    -- Matt

  • AGREED!!!!! This copyright stuff is getting so far out of hand thats its not even funny.

to me Youtube should only take down vids if the person takes credit for something that is not theres.

Hell i tried to use a song in one of my Drawing vids, and they kept getting rid of it, i mean COME ON, im promoting the songs, i bought the damn thing so i should be aloud to play it in my vids.

Youtube is controlled by a bunch of Wankers!!!!!!

  • Thanks for the comment!

    -- Matt

  • Yea, companies don't think straight.

Having a song installed in a song should be no different from one heard in the background.

Both are forms of promotion if you think about it, but these companies and business don't view it that way. If they don't give out permission, it's immediately classified as "Infringement". It's bullspit if you ask me.

    Great Video. Favorited, 5 Stars!

  • Thank you very much, Deni! Yayy!!!

    -- Matt

  • I think back to the video you made where pretty soon these damned corporations will be taking the shirts off of our backs!!

Great video as always, Matt! YAYY!!

    Alan

  • Thanks, Alan! Yayy!!!

  • Copyright laws are some of the stupidest laws ever invented. Somebody steals your shit, and you don't want them to, then you smack them. There shouldn't be laws in place at all. They are unnecessary. As long as you say "Hey! This audio belongs to so and so", there shouldn't be a problem.

  • Thanks for the comment!

    -- Matt

  • It's crazy. No doubt about it. Good video Matt!

  • Thanks, Russ! Yayy!!!

    -- Matt

  • yep...all these copy rights are getting so far out of hand, and its really agrivating, especially when its a video with a stand still picutre, but the vid is a music video just to hear the music, and the audio is taken out from copyright, mine as well have the video taken down unless you want to look at a picture for a few minutes and hear nothing >.>

  • Thanks for the comment!

    -- Matt

  • wow hey matt if you are wondering i'm CRAZYDRAGON344 i made a new account!

  • Cool! Thanks for commenting!

  • What a coincidence. I ran into two copyright based problems yesterday here on Youtube.

The first one was when I tried watching the "Everything" video by Alanis on her own channel, alaniscom. I couldn't view it because it wasn't available in my country, and I happen to live in Ottawa, her hometown.

If these videos disappeared from my subscription box I wouldn't mind. But they just remain so I unsubscribed to alaniscom. :(

Then there's the music on one of my mourning dove videos... (cont)

  • (cont) It is a Mozart composition performed by an independent artist ; A pianist that uploaded the recording to a public domain site, as identified on the video itself. But Youtube's software thinks it's a recording by another artist under Sony. :-/

  • I've seen problems with Sony and public domain recordings before, too. Thanks for commenting!

    -- Matt

  • it how mene views so they can get more popular and a ho how thing

  • Good point. Thanks, Kate!

    -- Matt

  • I always had this theory, I know it sounds crazy, that Youtube was set up to let people produce their own videos? Copyright shouldn't apply!!! Thank God most videos haven't been marked yet but i'm sure they will be in time lol

  • Thanks for the commemt!

    -- Matt

  • damm it that sucks i dont get it really sumtimes

  • Thanks for commenting!

    -- Matt

  • yeah i had my own music video of disturbed and my music song had bad quality and they took it down. i was pissed man i hear ya bro XD miss ya matt =D

  • Hi, Matt--

I think it's just that YT makes it possible for labels or bands to decide for themselves if their songs/movies are being misused.

I posted a video a while back using clips from the anime movie Vexille and music by the band Nemesea, and attached it to Nemesea's official video for the same song. Nemesea *liked* the AMV and thought the music was used well, and told me to keep the AMV up.

The Japanese company that owns Vexille had the AMV pulled.

    Go figger, eh?

    Henrik

  • Yeah, it can get complicated, too. A few years back, Stephen Colbert challenged viewers to make videos with footage from his show using a green screen and to put it on the internet. When this was done, with some of those videos uploaded on YouTube, Viacom, the owner of Comedy Central, the cable network that runs Colbert's show, had the videos marked for copyright infringement.

    Thanks Henrik!

  • I hate the copyright claims youtube is placing on here now.. come on people want music in there videos so what if it's from other artists who gives two shakes

  • Usually, it is not YouTube, strictly-speaking, that is having the videos removed, it is the recording companies and publishers that own the music. I have never understood why the companies are so short-sighted about what is really free advertising for them. The people who put up videos with copyrighted music are not, on average, profiting from that music.

    Thanks for the comment!

    -- Matt

  • exactly, so youtube can just tell the recording companies to stop bugging them and the youtube users

  • Well sometimes just to be mean to myself I get YouTube to ban my videos for copyright restrictions. I didnt get permission from myself, so I dont have a right to post the video. I think the next thing will be to sue myself. YAYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!

  • LOL! Thanks, Michael! Yayy!!!

    -- Matt

  • Am scotish and I say You choob. Not really.

  • Thanks for the comment! :-)

    -- Matt

  • In a world where The Beatles don't own their own songs, things like this don't shock me.

  • Well, The Beatles thing don't shock me as most musicians working for recording companies don't own the publishing rights for their own songs, but if Paul or Ringo made a video to promote the remastered CDs and that video was removed for copyright violation, that would be really odd.

    Thanks Curt! Yayy!!!

    -- Matt

  • I just had to unsubscribe from Regina Spektor because of late they disabled all of her videos in North America!

    It's pissing me off.

  • It's maddening sometimes, isn't it? Thanks, BJ!

    -- Matt

  • Good thing I'm not a rock band trying to promote myself!

  • LOL! True dat! ;-)

    -- Matt

  • Good Rant.. When someone can figure out anything youtube does let me know. I see some partners now playing copyrighted music in their vids and nothing ever happens then someone else does and their account gets closed and its the same song. Go figure

  • I have notice quite a bit of things in regards to copyrights that don't seem to be applied in a consistent manner. Thanks for commenting!

    -- Matt

  • Hey Matt thats the same thing with My Chemical Romance. They put up there own music videos and No one can watch it! This is really dumb

  • That's just crazy! Thanks for the comment!

    -- Matt

  • First!

  • Yep!
