  • better that the other one....

  • Try this with a Belgian drafthorse. They will pull you with them. How would you solve that?

  • my horse bites when you try to get her off the line, he doesnt walk on the line wither he has stop trot and canter. ut she loves to work i gues thats a good thing

  • "A young horse must learn the trainer's expectations" you are NOT a trainer yet, learn far too much more to try to become AT LEAST understanding...

  • It works better if you can show the horse using an another person. The leading person gives the comments and the other person takes the horse.

I say go, and the other person lead the horse of. It worked perfect with my young mare!!

  • ive lunged a young stallion and it wasnt this hard

    I WORE A HAT THO!!!!!

i think this horse could hav potential and has alot of energy that needs to be handled safely!!!!

  • You need to do more ground work on the horse before you teach him to lunge. You also need to correct him when he acts up.

  • I work with problem Standardbreds, usually youngsters who rear over backwards in the cart, pull themselves up when on the track, run off the track, etc. Their stall manners were non-existent. Check out my vids under Yambeau. You'll see a 2 yr old stud colt who stands with respect, and a 3 yr old filly who actually attacked her regular trainer and took a chunk out of his jacket, now respectful. This girl is putting herself into very bad positions. Sheer luck she has not been hurt.

  • ok wat i would like to understand is if you people think you know all about horses...then why are you looking up how to lunge and how to do groundwork ???????? you guys are just like me who looked it up because you wanted to learn...but you people (all the bad commetns) have the urge to tell her wat she is doing wrong when you are the people who are looking it up trying to learn

  • the horse keeps stopping dead because everytime yo give him slack you correct him. you need help. you've got no clue what you're doing in any of these vids.

  • I like a lot of parts in this video. But i agree about keeping the lounge in two hands, for safety and to keep it free from knots. Also, the horse stop and she takes him in, without giving any command. That should maybe be taken into consideration next time. Precision and right signals is what training young horses is all about:)

Anyway, I like yout videos a lot!:)

  • It is also a good idea to keep you longe line organize, held in two hands, rather than bunched up in one. It is also prefferable to not longe a horse, especially a young untrained horse in a halter. They have a tendency to slip and do not offer the correct pressure. If the horse is not yet in a bridle. a cavesson is a correct choice.

  • This horse has got lots of nice energy- have you tried him in the round pen at liberty (without any ropes)? Just to get him to move around you and also to respect your space. He's very cute and I do like your patience with him. Do keep your shoulder open and allow him to move toward that open space while pushing him more from his hip- try it without a lead line and see how nicely it works.

  • please ignore all the negative comments! these are just your typical horse snobs that think they know everything and probably BEAT their horses, that is if they even own one, into submission. youre doing great. and i think the comments that give helpful tips are wonderful and help everyone learn. isn't that what this is all about?

i would rather have a horse that wants to do for me out of respect than out of fear.. good job!

  • We don't BEAT horses, we try to teach horses MANNERS before we try to do anything else.

  • the horse is young!!! you people dont understand the fact that the horse is prolly under 2 years old and is under training...now i would understand if the horse was older and was just now learning how to lunge but the fact of the matter is the horse is still young and learning

  • Its not HIS fault that you aren't properly telling him what to do, i think its YOURS!

  • Im sorry to say this

But your not doing anything right there

I was going to say the same thing as breanneburtch but she beat me to it~!!

  • I'm pretty sure this is their young stallion and she usually does a pretty good job with him

  • ok the reason you had so much trouble getting him to go forward is because you were parallel with his front end. you should get towards his butt a little more and turn your outside shoulder out more then urge him forward , as he goes around you keep turning your body with his that is telling him in body language you want him to go forward it makes it so much easier as a trainer myself. The tip will help trust me.

  • You're doing perfect. My tb mare has a pet mouse in her stall which she adores. People who want to muscle horses will lose :)

  • You have a very pretty horse! I know how incredibly frusterating trainning a young horse can be at times, you are very patient with him. With the bighting and getting in you're space issue have you tried quickly backing him up when he does that :)

  • I'm sorry but this horse isn't one that doesn't know what you want its one that doesn't respect his handler. She also needs to pay more attention before she gets hurt and needs to not let him away with that behaviour
