@MarshallVamp idk bought that but he deff should have started braking on the straight. And shouldn't have accelerated coming out of the other turn. He was going way to fast to stay in his lane on that last turn & he realized it to late & turned hard so physics & mother nature took place. Nuff said
Quote: "though could have been worse because if they hadn't landed in the tree would have fallen to the bottom and probably been killed!" sorry mate but I disagree.
Falling down and killing yourself is WAY better than even scratching someone else vehicle, not to mention hurting or killing them. But in the other hand, I'm happy to see they are ok, if nothing else it's a good lession for them.
Oh man... Life can suck really quick. Great to see nobody was hurt though. At 22, with a V8 Ferrari at Stelvio Pass... that is just a one way ticket. Having said that, I wish I had an older brother like yourself. Take care, buddy. Say, have you bought another Ferrari ?
I own a ferrari 360 and one of my firm rules is I NEVER drive in the rain or when roads are wet PERIOD. At the very least i dont want the water getting all up under the car resulting in rust and dirt build up. I have gone 142 mph down a well known long flat country road with farmers fields both sides no driveways in dry sunny conditions, no problems, handles awesome, also corners awesome on dry roads. i am also 41 with alot of experience and i always practice calculated risks.
@usacoinman I own a 360 spider and I think you are a pansy. I drove it today and it is a January Monday and raining. Meanwhile yours was sat in a garage.
You can hear the revs changing and a faint click sound at 0.28-0.29 (the gear changes make that metallic click sound when the gear lever shaft hits against the metal gate on a Ferrari). It looks like he slammed it down into 2nd right on the corner which spun the rear wheels and threw the back end out right on the apex of the bend.
@MarshallVamp I think this is about right, except the downshift caused microblocking (by braking) the rear wheels when he shifted down. ABS/ASC couldnt do much about it (couldnt disengage the clutch for example). Engine braking gone wrong.
the problem with twisty roads like the trans-fagarashan in romania, is that you have countless turns, so after a while you "think" you have the confidence, and start flooring the gas more inside the turns without concentrate etc.....this is the trap. sport driving means you have to focus and think ALL the time, no matter how much laps you already did etc.
@RoBeR200sx would agree to a point (cos my bro is a fool) but that car is as twitchy as fuck, especially in the rain. driven a number of rear drive cars (though mostly bmw's,) but nothing like that, you gotta be a sick driver or have lightening reactions to catch it when it goes
@mcleodmackenzie it's cause u didn't snap the wheel quick left then quick center, u let the wheel stay straight when the car begain tailing out, u can't recover like that unless the bend was going around the direction of the tail out when the wheel is straight
I some how think you'll be able to afford a new one even though your insurance will probably cover it. Oh also, I recon me and my camry could smoke your younger brother.
@sutton513 Switzerland. Driving back from bungee jump he'd just done at the verzasca dam (the one from opening sequence of goldeneye). Was heading to geneva through the mountains
Wow... they are lucky to be alive! Very bad move... wet road, powerful car and based on the lines, a very inexperienced drriver (just a guess). This all makes for a bad combination, albeit, very lucky on given the outcome (they are still alive). Too bad for the great ride--looks like it flipped. :-(
@DoctaM3 true,he had a coupla years experience but crap driver and car broken beyond repair. only good news was my older bro was gonna sell as moving back to england from geneva and insurance paid out £15,000 more than the ferrari dealership had offered him. Every cloud....

It happens everyday. cars like these should only be sold in conjunction with a driver training course. They were lucky

Your sole remedy is:
ship Your car in Italy, in a Ferrari mechanical workshop.
E la prossima volta ricorda che non si scherza con il cavallino.
