Some information about this version. There are 2 versions of this sheet music that were released. The European version was published by Carisch. This is the one that is being played in this video. The American version of the sheet music was published by Hal Leonard and is the note for note exact representation of Ruben Gonzales's original recording. The European version leaves out some sections and solos. You can see this video is around 2 and a half minutes. But the original version is about 5
Good day. I have the book with sheets. But book has some differences. When I finish learning the song, I will post it and you will see the difference. Thank you and good day.
@AniRockstone it was in 2007 so I think 10-11 years, but I don't know why people likes my interpretation because it'was not very good ^^. actually I have four recent movies from 2009-2010 where I play well on youtube.
I love this rendition of the song. I am learning it myself and I have the sheet music. My question is that you made a modification to the sheet music. During the cadence section in the middle of the section, you seemed to also play the guitar part of the cadence. Where did you get the sheet music for that part? Or did you just play it by ear?
I've got problem though;) This song swithces into a classical salsa tune that I recognise. It suddenly phases in towards the end of the song "Pueblo Nuevo", but I have no idea what the name of the original song is:) Can someone please help me - I'm getting frustrated here;) Hope someone can enlighten me!
Thanks for the reply:) That makes sense, because I have heard this about 1001 times but I still have no idea what it is! I really want to get an mp3 with just that song:) He starts playing the song at 1:48 in this video - is that a Tumbao?
you just need to show your feeling for the music, its technically well done but theres no emotion in your playing, you seem to play very pneumatically...thats my only criticism though
its good to see a young musician crossing cultural boundaries, great job once again
You play pretty well, and it's a hard piece. Seriously, if you do two things I think you could begin to really nail it:
1. Keep going over it until you really have it mastered, where no part of it is a struggle at all.
2. See if you can find (ideally) a live drummer to keep the beat for you - if not a "Cuban" beat would help - and really learn to feel it rhythmically.
I'm sorry but your playing this as if you want to be done with it as soon as possible. You play quite good but this just doesn't sound as if you like what your playing. The rhythem is also messed up.
For everyone whining about sheet music, just buy the Buena Vista book! I have it and its there.
Wow! Very nice!

Pas mal, mais on sent un peu trop le par coeur. Tu joues trop vite essaye mezzo piano.
En plus, fait attention à ta pédale, on l'entend un peu trop.
Travaille le style et tu joueras vraiment bien le morceau ;)
Bon courage.

Played mechanically. That's a good start, you now need to add the emotion.

i'm a little conga player and for me : tumbao is a rythm (used in salsa etc...) but maybe i'm wrong !
baboulinetdu37 2 years ago
you can play a Tumbau in the piano too;) the greatest pianist of Son: Lilí Martinez, was the king of Tumbau...good look with the congas;)

nice job, altough it seems like you don't "know" the peace realy. You have to feel where to put the accents and were to put a little rest etc.
Work on that and it will be great!
