  • 0:56 it has a different kind of starch in it, that makes it retarded!

  • Comment removed

  • I love the jelly filled kind. :3

  • haha! "Obviously."

  • I love the way you explain things "long grain rice is like....umm... retarded =D" hahaha LOVE YOU!!!

  • You're probably the 1st person I've seen who cooks rice in this fashion. You should get a rice cooker much more efficient and easy. :)

  • They look like great...

    ...

    ...

    ...donuts.

    loljk

  • I make those all the time so good

  • Haha pokemon did call them donuts.

  • listening to you> learning how to make onigiri.

  • Thank you! I've been trying to tell my friends for years that those things are not doughnuts!.......By the way, where did someone use onigiri as a "deamon cutter"? :S

  • @buddygoogle DEMON! Not deamon! Crap I can't spell!

  • i have those exact same products in my pantry/fish :DDD

    XD

  • i made onigiri fine with long grain white rice. it stuck together perfectly without me altering anything. how did that happen?

  • They just say it because its easier for an ameikaner to understand, just like how leek girl isn't really spinning a leek. Its a giant green onion (welsh I believe), which is heavily used in japanese cooking...

  • love your vids!

  • MARRY ME

  • omg those were the pokemon donuts! oh shitz!

oh and uhm i cant find noi can i just skip it? i know it will be sticky but i dont have any and cant get any!

  • use letuce leaves

  • Yeah nori is optional its nummy either way

  • lol wow that is actually a uhh.. good way to make it w.o messing ur hands lol or burning em

  • omg your so cute :]

you remind me of my friend brittany who i havnt seen all summer :\

ahaha i just like your voice too.

    are you japanese?

    or asian?

    or chinese?

  • A tip:

If you form it by hand, put your hands in water mixed with salt. It helps the rice not to stick

  • i thought it was cold water =0

  • I guess you can use cold water? I just fill up water from the sink, add salt, and dip my hands in there. I was surprised how much it helped the rice not stick to me :-p

  • or a cracker 4kids did that to a poor rice ball in pokemon

  • o_0 A Donut Pokemon? WHats its Name? And WHere is It? Johto?

  • f6... no she means.. when they eat onigiri.. in pokemon.. in stead of it being a rice ball lol they call it a donut.. cuz they r dumb.. <<

  • Ha! I remember that on Pokemon!

Everytime Brock would make some, I'd drool at the television and want one (even though I had no clue what they were).

  • lol tyvm.

  • I like using salmon too. Oh, the onigiri should be triangular. Round onigiri or musubi (as it's called in Hawaii) is only served at funerals.

  • Wow you did a great video. =D

  • You are adorable!

  • wer the hell can i buy nori

  • HAHA i saw that on pokemon. i was like "wtf?" with the sub, and i always remember asking for a doughnut that looked like that when i was little. now i'm not so retarded anymore! xD

  • This video = awesome! Great job!

  • mmm doughnuts

  • I used extra long grain rice, which is even MORE retarded... -_- It attacked my hands soo much....

  • ha ^_^

  • Medium sushi rice is good to use.

  • I have those same plates in my house

  • I totally love your voice, I dont even cook I just watch these videos so I can listen to you. : )

  • creep much.

  • Lol

i remember that -"Hey Ash, have a doughnut" from Pokemon when i was little, and i remember wondering what was going on because i was quite sure that doughnuts didn't look like that.

    Nice video!

  • XD YOu're my hero. Can i get that rice you had at like, Walmart or Meyer or something?

  • I like to fill my onigiri with jelly or apricots. If I could get a hold of some fish every time I wanted onigiri, I'd probably fill them with some tuna or something, but I get a craving for onigiri at the strangest times. Usually about 10:00 at night when I can't just go out an buy some fish. Hmm maybe I should start planning ahead when I make food...?

  • you sound exactly like my friend from portland

  • haha they will never be donuts lol

  • you acutaly can use long grian rice just soak it in hot mater for one hour

  • I've seen Naruto eat this!!!!

  • lol i know everytime i see him eating it i''m like mehhhh waaaaant!

  • the pun in the name--oni giri, is actually used in the anime one piece as zoro's attack.

  • >.> is it me or does she sound like a bitch?

  • lol, she DOES

  • can I use gummy bears?

  • ew gummy bears...wtf....you could use anything but you

d be tasting 2 completely different things lol ....

  • could i use shrimp?

  • Suddenly, hearing her explain it, makes making onigiri rather arousing.

  • what the hell...donuts?

  • what the hell is she on about pokemon??!! an donuts turning into sub sandwhiches??!! total randomness and the lil ps part on the bit on the side thats random to,but it would be good cuz donuts are smaller lol

  • umm..cuz i used to watch pokemon when i was younger and in pokemon, Brock used to always bring along onigiri

  • fair enough^^

  • lol ya xD

  • pokemon also called onigiri popcorn balls on the johto episodes....

  • i noticed that too but the only got BALLS rite

  • OH GOD! 4Kids allowed the word BALLS on their program?! FOR SHAME!

  • i have the same plates as you!=p

  • i did mess it up.. i made the stock with 2 tablespoons of powder not 2 teaspoons then i added salt waaaaaaaaaa

  • aww iz ok *pats ur bak*

  • o.O

  • Lolz n_n

You can also season the rice with salt to make it taste better :D

  • lol...totally love it, very cute. :D

lol. i love your steps too. :D

  • i made these you could buy everything at vons for not that much

  • It's looks so good,I've gotta try it!!

  • Is Botan Calrose Rice sticky like glutinous rice?

  • Not even nearly. It's like "normal" long-grain rice, but not all dry and horrible.

  • crap I deleted your comment D: It'll stick together on its own just fine. Calrose rice just isn't gummy like glutinous rice. It's plenty sticky though :]

  • helpful vid

    thank you ^-^

  • Three things

1.I noticed that about Pokemon too stupid dub people

2.you just made making rice balls so much easier to understand Thank you

and 3.I have the same plates as you hehe

  • U rock! I luv ur videos and u are so funny

  • oh yeah. I tried making it with long grain rice.... yeah. it didn't turn out well as you said... lol

  • arigato goematsu n_n

  • i had to use long grain rice to make onigiri the first time i did it, but it came out fine because i have molders (a heart and a star)

but yea that rice can be evil otherwise....

  • yummage XD

  • Wow, your the funniest cook ever.

  • LOOOL

as much as i loved pokemon,

    yes, they are not donuts,

at least call them rice balls

  • Pokemon rocks! =D

  • what the heck why do we have the same plates

    AWSUM!!!!

  • We have the same stove? I'm sorry :[

  • *laughs* It's not a bad thing. xP

I love the beginning part by the way! X)

  • Oh god. I've been eating retarded rice all my life.

  • me too, but basmati and jasmine are my favorite no matter what you call them! I don't use the "r" word. I call them fally aparty rice

  • This quote deserves a prize. Too bad I'm too lazy to make new videos let alone give you a prize :C

  • I once met this little wapaneese girl who ACTUALLY TOLD ME that the only thing she regretted in life was that she "wasn't born japanese". I felt like throwing up :[

  • "I once met this little wapaneese girl who ACTUALLY TOLD ME that the only thing she regretted in life was that she "wasn't born japanese". I felt like throwing up :["

does that girl actually know what it means to be a japanese girl?

  • hahah u call them wapanese too lol

  • No, and I hope she never finds out. I'm horrible like that C:

  • Lol, when I was little I used to go to the supermarket and try to find 'doughnuts' that looked like this because I saw it on Pokemon n_n

  • ive always made sushi with long grained rice, but just because i cant find short grained rice anywhere :[

  • oh who cares just use normal rice! lol wen ur cookin normal rce dun wait till its ttly finish.. dats all.. lol itd be a waste to buy another thingy of rice..in my opinion.. but yaa i liek ur video

  • lol. you made me laugh so hard. XD I thought they were powdered donuts. But now i know better. And did you notice how the sandwich.. FLOATED down the hill?

  • LOL hahaha you made me laugh~~ love ur video

  • you sound like my friend erin

  • I find that dipping your hands in saltwater when forming the onigiri gives it a more even salty flavor. Of course, it also uses more salt! XP

  • such cute voice

  • Yummmmmmmmmmmy

Btw, you really are better off using short grain sushi rice, you can buy it anywhere...

  • But they charge more for the sushi rice. I'm cheap :[

  • man ur mean :(

dont make fun of retarded rice!

  • but the normal rice in our place is very sticky...

  • i always thought they were called rice ball and i thought it was somthing sweet or somthing like that becouse in animes they made it sound like that....T^T

  • LuvAStar, the term "onigiri" translates, I believe, to "rice ball" in English, so they're often called rice balls as well. :3

  • (uses normal rice) it is..very..very retarded.

  • You just reminded me of when I was a thirteen-year-old Inuyasha fangirl who made pseudo-sushi to eat while watching the anime. I failed so hard. But now I at least know how to cook rice all the way through!

  • my bento today..sucked lol. I had 3 cheese/spinach onigiri's and some fruit and some ramono leaves soaked in salt water, and it was boring! (tho my onigiri is pretty good)

...I Didnt have any seaweed left tho(sigh)

  • I didn't know they called onigiris donuts....I thought they called them rice crackers. Where did they get jelly donuts from?

  • Retard dub land :T

  • LMFAO when I was little I thought they WERE jelly donuts!!!

  • mmk, i have advice, if u MUST us normal(long) rice, put cheese in it(so it melts in) to make it stick.

  • cheese and rice? I never heard using that

  • I...wouldn't so that. It sounds kinda gross :[

Making smaller rice balls will prevent them from imploding though. Or just wrap the entire thing in nori :]

  • thanks for the vids. they're really well done.

and your japanese is pretty awesome too.

  • ...donut..?

  • lol "yay!"

  • im not very fond of fish but i really want to try onigiri. Is their any other fillings i can use other than fish?

  • Red bean paste or umeboshi

  • anything you want

  • i used corned beef.

  • Red bean paste is good, but actually, you can make onigiri without a filling, too. The only thing is that your flavor relies on the nori and the salt.

  • Where do you get a steamer, or whatever it is?

Btw, I live in Canada, so American refrence is just as good.

And I can tell you are from the Us, because of the inches thing, I'm not a stalker.

  • well, if you have an asian (chinese, japanese, korean) supermarket nearby, it should have it. i got my rice cooker (put rice and water in, press button, wait!)there.

  • OMG...Onigiri made simple. Thank you so much. m y experiments with it make my hands hurt for an hour because of burns. One question though....do you use a new baggy for each rice ball or do you keep using the same baggy...cause I know that a cup of rice can make more than 1 rice ball.

  • Use the same bag. It'll keep working as long as your rice isn't five thousand degrees and melts the plastic.

  • lmao that had to be the best video of all time, you are hilarious. made my day

  • ty ill try making it on my free time tanx!<3

  • You are too cute. All your Japanese recipes are so Americanized in its own little way. I've never seen onigiri made like that! You did a great job!

In Japan it's common to put umeboshi (pickled plums) in it too -- a little too bitter and strong for most American folks. Keep it up!

  • Sticky rice <3. I die without it. American white rice fails. I love to make fried rice with it. Anyway, really interesting method of shaping it with the plastic bag. I've never heard of doing it like that, just with molds or their hands. Pretty ingenious, actually.

  • ur awsome thx 4 standing up 4 them!!! :> i lov onigiri... loug grain is retardeed

  • U ROX!! like...a lot..yeah...haha...*twitch*...cant wait for more food!!

P.S. thanks a lot! my friends are Japanese fanatics and lub all Jap stuff so i made this for one of their birthdays!! ^0^

  • we have your plate.

the one at the very end.

    eww

  • You have my plate? We're plate buddies then <3

  • I still havent done onigiri yet cause my best friend used the medium grain rice to try and make onigiri and it sucked so imma go buy short grain rice. And i started laughing when you said the thing about the donut and the demon cutter cause i watch this anime called one piece (the japanese one, not the stupid english one) and theres a sword move which the subtitles say demon cutter while the guy is saying oni giri so i understand what your talking about. I really need to make this. Much love.

  • Yay! Zolo! Now that FUNimation is doing the One Piece dub, I'm really into it. I've read the manga before but I'm going through it again. It's great :D

  • I've just been watching the japanese version since i found out about the horrible english version that cracks me up...too late...which im fine with that. I call him zoro, you call him zolo....did i have a point...im not sure if i did, i think i became a broken needle cause i lost my point. oh well, YOU ROCK!

  • Haha~ Sankyu x3

  • i just use my hands when i make it i got burned a lot

  • why must the evil flipping rice burn my hands?! but it was very tasty anyways. worth the burn^^.

  • Seriously and totally. I made some with vegge furikake earlier today and they were super yummy! :D

  • ahh..onigiri goodness.^^

  • I love onigiri! they are my favorite foods...and nori is so good plain. ^^ I love it!

  • thanks for your recipe it really helped me make my onigiris :D

  • I remember in Pokemon when Ash, Brock, and Misty split up and Brock said crying, "It must be the onion..." when he was eating onigiri I was thinking "Wha?!" Thanks for the easy instructions!

  • Same here! x3

  • OFCOURSE!!

  • Thankyou! -hugs- :D

  • :hugs: I'll make sure to take a pic of the stuff i make using your recipe...MUCH LOVE

  • ROFL OMG YOU HAD ME DYING OF LAUGHTER WHEN YOU SAID "demon cutter"....i know what you mean....i've been meaning to make onigiri but i just keep putting off for tomorrow and stuff, but i WILL make it. Itadakimasu.
