gerdes, the problem lies with the narrow intolerant dogma of the abrahamic faiths (christianity ,islam) - not the truly liberal and secular Hindu philosophy! it's the forceful shoving of the abrahamic dogma that causes rifts in communities and Hindus have time & again been cornered due to their tolerance. The Hindus may have the best religion of all. Yet if your people are so dumb and your faith is so weak, you yourself are the problem. Conversion a sin? Why are you blind to the sin of the millions of stooges in your country that willfully convert? Then you blame your social problems on us! A lot of gurus from the East come to the West and convert people to Eastern traditions. I don't see that as a sin. A majority of Hindus can't even define what Hinduism is. Wouldn't it be better to educate your own people on Hinduism instead of keeping the great knowledge locked up with a handful of brahmin caste people? Problem solved!!!

Why do u call the poor people who have been already punished by destiny, "stooges"? I consider those people taking advantage of their poverty as "stooges" - the missionaries who give bribes to convert!!I am aware n also doing my duty towards educating the Hindus towards their own religion. It is easy to ruin and loot the ppl for several hundred years (Moghuls) and then 400 years (Britishers) and call the remaining ppl stooges and uneducated. I agree the christian missionaries are a menace - but you need to abolish the caste system.

Surely you can get rid of the caste system and give everyone equal status. If there is such a thing as karma - then isn't it powerful enough to store up and compensate on its own without the need for human discrimination?

With all respect, ur understanding of the caste system is party flawed. The media shows only the places where it is misused. Caste system is prevalent and needed in every society. The untouchable caste was a weed grown in the Hindu society by some cunning Hindu men in the past - this was not prescribed in the religion, just as Jesus never prescribed slavery! I suggest u google a document - 10 commonly asked questions about Hinduism and read that pdf if sincerely want to know the truth. God bless

I think many in the west find hereditary systems in general to be somewhat incongruous with human rights though. This distaste of course applies to monarchies too.

The problem is not Christainity per se. Christianity has existed alongside with Hinduism, both tolerating each other for over 1,800 years. The problem is intolerant non-Asian Christians bringing an intolerant form of evangelical Christianity to India as cultural imperialism.
