@GreatNorthWeb Except it wasn't - Apple LICENSED the Xerox IP. They paid for the concepts (Apple stock). It was all legal which is why there was never any lawsuit.

@Danny77uk Apple bought a license, but not an exclusive one. Witch is why Micrasoft was able to buy one too. So the developers of Geos could have bought there own license to use that style.

@Danny77uk Very true. More than twenty years ago (I was then a kid), I've worked with GEOS v1.2 on a C-64. And now that I have a Mac, I realize that I've been working with a simili-very-old-version-of-Mac­-OS even though I never knew it.

if you have a rumble pack you can take it in the ds an than start geos ds it will start vibrating

It's been more than a year since the R4 supports DLDI auto-patching.

imaginge you have pc with vista...u want to play an old windows 95 game incompatible with vista...u try even thoug u know that hey vista supports old games...(i know the example wont make much sense after this but its true) why can't it play it? because the old game doesnt support new vista:( sadly u can't play it so you sob all day long realizing the complexity of the situation

I have an edge flash card but geos doesn't work. ewhen i boot it says cannot find directory "\geos". I have put the 'Geos' folder in the root of the mem stick.

I happen to own an M3 (CF), so I didn't have any problems running it but DLDI support for other carts would be nice so as to broaden your audience. ;)

this linux, a "vista" (simple homebrew menu "os) and macintosh all run on my ds (lol mac to windows to cm64!)

Now if only someone would create an amiga emulator...

I remember the GEOS. It was the Graphical interface for the Commodore 64/128. This operating system allowed the gaming platform to be a productive destop computer. At the time it was great. I also remember they ported to the PC and had true multitasking. Amazing for the time.

yah!, that was cool. But no one Commodore have a Unix's system. The GEOS 8-bit (there is also GEOS-16 Bit) it is'nt a true multitasking system. The GEOS KERNAL cannot run 2 program in the same time, GEOS close the other programkeeping in memory last changes.

That's not correct. Google "LUNIX" for a Unix clone. And "Kontiki" for a real multitasking OS on the C64.
