He really loves that two down, one up, on the guitar. He has written a lot of songs to that stroke. Not sure I like it, but it works for the things he does and he does what he does pretty damn good!!
Great song, reminds me to look beyond the day to day struggles of gettin by and remember to live in those wonderful strangle marvelous moments that you experience in life. They happen everyday, look and live for them they'll make you happy.
Man, I wish we had TNN back! But, of course, it would probably be overrun with the new FM radio "country" that most of us old Jerry Jeff followers hate!
What an amazing song writer and entertainer, saw him once about the time this was shot. I never could figure out why he didn't do the whole Garth Brooks thing, he was great every time I saw him. Brooks and Dunn even wrote a song about Jerry Jeff Walker.
gosh we would all go crazy when he played this. ahhhh we were all young back then...in the 70's ray wylie, BW, Augie M, Michael M, and Jimmie Buffet had not figured out that he was going to key west....
And just to think that Jerry Jeff drove Jimmy B. to Key West in the early 70's when they both left Memphis - JJW left Bubba in KW and headed for Texasand the rest is history! JJW from Oneonta, NY is now a Texas Boy! By the way, the bass player is Bob Livingston still singin' and a-playin' with JJW all these years later!
@blueskiesblue OH YES!! How I miss the old original TNN before the corporate wreckers destroyed it...."American Music Shop" and"Texas Connection" and the great original concert footage of Mary Chapin Carpenter and Jimmy Dale Gilmore and Shawn Colvin, along with the PBS show "Austin City Limits" were the only TV showcases for REAL country and Americana music...sadly missed. Austin City survives, but is now more about popularity, not about creative music.
Sure 'nough .. both Jerry Jeff, and Jimmy Buffett, are each once in a half-century phenomenon. Both are fantastic talents, representing as they do that wonderfully appealing 'feel' from their respective parts of the US that they call home. This song by JJW is one of his very best, in my humble opinion .. and a superb live performance of the song to match here .. just a sweet joy to listen to ... thanks BRod 313 !!
Hey dancing Naked in the High Hill Country Rain is way Over Rated!!! I spent three days in the Williamson County Jail and I am now a registered Sex Offender!!! Thanks alot Jerry Jeff Walker, I guess the Cedar Park Police Never heard this song!!!

Man this guy has range problems and can't get to the mic quick enough...I am sure his recordings are much better than this....the music is real lively but you can tell he is out of his element, yet he looks like he's having fun and not bothered by his voice issues.....he must not have confidence problems. Good music....probably would have been fun to be in the audience.
JJW is to Texas bar music what (his close buddy) Jimmy Buffett is to Parrottheads. Neither is the best vocalist nor best guitarist, however they connect with their audiences through gifted songwriting and providing a mood for their audience. Its a talent too rare in music today. It's also why each have lived on stage for over 40 years, can't argue wiuth that type of longevity and success.
