I agree that barristers and solicitors are paid way too much and it does seem that justice is selective because of costs. However even if you did institute a flat fee for all legal work throughout the profession it would still have to represent the practitioners status as professionals. Also who would pay it? The Government? In which case the legal profession would not be impartial. The only way I can think is if a seperate 'legal insurance' like national insurance was set up for each person.
@iBeep2009 hence legal aid, hence the CPS. What does Sharia law have to do with anything. The British legal system takes a wider view of circumstances and uses the law to make a decision not what a book or religion demands. Barristers uphold and argue points of law, they don't lie and every barrister I have met has very good ethical and moral views and would NEVER lie in court. Fake accent??? I assume you know these people personally.
..why should anyone risk being runied by 'costs' for accessing justice??? Solicitors should get a weekly salary, ditto barristers and judges....scummy chavs, the lot of them. You dont have to pay for sharia law...why is british 'justice' soooooo expensive???
@iBeep2009 Along with that sharia thing comes beheading, hands chopped off and so forth. Think of all that littering of body parts on the streets of the UK, so untidy.
Urgh that environmentalist woman is so annoying - "I could lose my house, ooh feel sympathy for me!" - Well, you should think about the consequences of losing a motion - brought by yourself - against a massive company!
I admire her for standing up for her beliefs, but really... a bit short-sighted.
Kakole Pandi & Joe Darby were both terrific, the other 2 not so hot.

Yes the British system isn't perfect but despite your opinion it is widely regarded as the envy of the world.

Everyone is bound by the law , so why does it cost anything at all to have it upheld where it is supposed to protect you?

That poor woman! 70grand down the crapper. I think it's a very poor show that one woman had to pay a huge company nearly a hundred grand in costs!
