  • Hmmm. the part at 2:50 onwards seemed to lack direction. It needed to bemore punchy and bold (detached) in my view.

  • This makes me so happy! :) It's a pleasure to watch her conduct. I showed this to my granny, who is a musician, and she said she was fabulous, especially for an amateur. She really has musical talent!

  • bloody hell! what happened to the passion of the peices. Her interpretation is horrible. She has no style! She totally degraded Stravinsky! This was the worst I have ever seen. I would have no respect for this conductor whatsoever.

  • You're right, but don't forget this is a TV show (it's made to entertain!) and she's not a conductor... she's not even a musician! If you see it with a bit of perspective it's quite good for an amateur.

  • NOOOO she killed the ending, one of my most favorite parts in all the world of music. it was played well, but she drained it of the super-extreme intensity that is Stravinsky

  • i think what killed the intensity was the tempo she took at 2:33..... gave no room for a dramatic ritard poco a poco....she drug out the end... otherwise it was fairly decent in my opinion

  • I'm confused.

What's the point of this..? It sounds so much.. worse than the original Firedbird. Also... is she actually conducting or waving her hand around just to show how much sound should be produced...?

  • really well done but im kinda disappointed that the horn solo was left out at the beginnning :(

  • yeah, especially considering the horn solo pretty much starts the finale

  • Bravo,

    Magnificent!

  • What was the "boo-boo"?

  • This was a brave choice, but she carried it well. Her Beethoven 5th was very very good too so I am glad she won. But thats taking nothing away from Goldie, I would sill happily pay to hear a night at the proms conducted by him! He was expressive and made a wonderful connection with the pieces he conducted. Sue was better though in my opinion.

  • It took some guts to choose that piece with Vengerov there, and Sue brought it off with elan. This and her Beethoven 5 were the two most impressive performances of the series I felt. The Beethoven, in particular, showed Sue's true potential as a sculptor in sound.

Goldie produced thrilling performances but some slow passages were tricky for him - though he coped well with Nimrod.

For me, it was Sue's ability to subtly vary the dynamics that gave her the edge, and she was a worthy winner.

  • Thank you for uploading this! Couldn't believe she chose this, I thought she did an absolutely brilliant job.
