  • OMG how could glinda fit through the door to her dressing room with that dress on?!

  • @SarahLuvsCupcakesxo u should always try 2 b urself! When/was ur audition?

  • I think that no1 can beat the Glinda bubble from 'Wicked'!

  • are those real mini people, or were those just puppets??

  • I really wanna be Glinda in my school's production this year... but I don't know if to act like her from the movie, or just be sweet as syrup, and interpret the role as my own.

  • Seriosuly Parents have no Consideration for other people, take the kd out of the theater if they continue to act like that, it's rude and disruptive. I mean I work at a theater and it warms my heart when Kids come and are excited to see the show, but some kids are meant to see theater.

  • Quite interesting.... As a #1 fan of the 1939 MGM film, I don't know whether to laugh or cry........

  • glinda was terrible!!!

  • What do you people expect? This is a Play, not a movie, with camera close-ups and mics....Glinda was very good here....did you want her to be soft and quiet, like Billie Burke, in the movie? Wouldn't work here.

Unless you can do better...just enjoy it and shut up!

    ^^X^^

  • love the entrance.....love the outfit..... hate the glinda

  • that bad of a glinda does not deserve an entrance like that!

  • What a horrible Glinda.

  • that bubble rocks

  • I like

The Poppy Song (The Wizard of Oz 1903) Version with

    Music by Paul Tietjens

    Words by L. Frank Baum

  • Jessica was awesome in this. She was part of this when I believe it started when she was in middle school, I only found out about her the following year when she went to my high school. But being so young (13 or 14) she has an awesome voice.

  • Yaaay! I'm doing Wizard of Oz in February at my stage school and I'm the wicked with of the West! I love this scene so much, we have all the little ones as the munchkins and they are adorable. Plus I get an AWESOME entrance!

  • what type of entrance is it

p.s good luck in the show

  • I am In the Wizard of oz, too! I play Glinda, The good wich good luck in your play!

  • seeing wicked in nyc on november 1st

  • is it me or are the two actresses voices a little too high pitched? and glinda's voice inflection sounds almost as if she is desperate or terrified. blah

  • I'm one of those rare fans who love Wizard of Oz and Wicked (both sides of the story). But I think they need to do a show about the Scarecrow.

We all know who he is in Wicked, but they need to do a show about the Scarecrow from the Wizard of Oz books. They have a lot more adventures that no one besides me or some people know about!

Wouldn't that be a cool brodway show or am I just blabbering?

  • "We all know who he is in Wicked"

That only applies to the Broadway musical, which Disney-fied the true darkness behind the Wicked telling.

  • yea....but the books are dark too, not as dark as Wicked book (I haven't read it but I hear storys) but the Oz books by Baum are fasinating enough to be on Broadway.......even if they "Disney-fied" it it would be cool. Have you seen Return To Oz by Disney? It's more based on the books and it's not Disney-fied at all even though it is made by them!

  • toto: Actually first off, Return to Oz was just distributed & aired by Disney, not really made by them. Secondly, why does the Wicked musical defy all Ozian canon--including its own novel--by having the Wicked Witch of the West (now Elphaba) get a happy ending when she was intended to be a character driven to tragically wicked madness to the point that Dororthy melts her, thereby killing her? I can ignore all other plotholes because they fit into the MGM canon that Wicked uses, but not this one.

  • Yea, I see what you mean. I dont just like Wicked mind you, I love ALL things Ozzy! The books are fantastic! My room is decorated in Oz things. I sometimes just get carried away with what I think would be cool to see. :)

  • totofan: Indeed. The world of Oz is brilliant.

  • R.I.P. L. Frank Baum We will never forget his brilliance.

  • totofan: Likewise for other visionaries like Walt Disney, Jim Henson, Mr. Rogers, etc. These people knew what they were doing, even if they stumbled upon their hidden genius originally by accident.

  • which is epic. I simply cant beleave Baum started as a door to door sales man....wow.

  • but as we found out in wicked, not everything is as it seems:>

  • tygerprince: That only applies to the musical. In the book, Elphaba DOES in fact die and in the book, Fiyero is NOT The Scarecrow. Plus, Wicked is only established official fanfiction essentially, because it is not in keeping with Baum's original story (with silver shoes, Tattypoo as the Good Witch of the North and Glinda as Good Witch of the South, The Wicked Witch of the West as a hunchbacked one-eyed crone, et al). Then again, neither does the 1939 MGM film, which Wicked is based off of.

  • Is this the Wizard of Oz version with Jessica Grove and Mickey Rooney?

  • Yes, it is that production, however, this video was filmed before Mickey Rooney joined the cast. However, this is Jessica Grove.

  • I was in this! I had a walk-on role as an Emerald City Citizen.

  • This was so fun to watch. THank you!

  • erm yh..... :S:S:S ur welcome :S i was the one who filmed it. so thanks :S

  • The Bubble is like the one Kristin ridees in Wicked. But this one doesn't have Bubbles coming out.

  • Well, a bubble's a bubble, but they're technically different in structure. The one in WICKED is a metal framework bubble made to resemble the pendulum of a clock in which the actress stands in. This one is a heavy plastic dome in which the actress sits in.

Also, the correct phrasing would be: "The bubble is like the one Kristin RODE in Wicked." Kristin is no longer with the show, she has not been since 2004.

  • WICKED is celebrating it's 5th Anniversary this year and Kristin and Idina should do a limited run recreating the roles of Glinda and Elphaba.

  • While, that would be nice, it may not happen. Kristin is currently in the TV show "Pushing Daisies" and Idina is going to be going on tour to promote her new album; Also, Idina just finished playing the role in the London production of WICKED in December, so it is doubtful she'll jump back in so soon. So, it would be more likely that they'd do either a one performance reunion or a reunion concert (like RENT did for it's 5th anniversary in 2000).

  • That's a great idea. A one night only reunion performance for Wicked fans to see the Original cast perform the show. Someone make a petition for The Producers of Wicked. Also when WIcked becomes a movie, they gotta have the Orignal cast on the big screen.

  • Sadly, I don't think we will see Kristin or Idina in the film. The producers have said that they want to wait several years before they make a movie. If they make it now in the heat of its popularity, it may kill ticket sales; if they wait until it simmers down a bit, they can spark new interest. So, by the time the film is made Kristin and Idina will be too old to convincingly pull off being 18 year-old-college students (they are both over 30 now)

  • julia roberts and hillary swank may do the role

  • Idina reprised her role in London December, 2006. I saw it her second to last night performing. I believe they said it would be her last time performing.

  • are those real midgets?

  • Yes. They also played the crows, flying monkeys and some of the Emerald City citizens.

  • Do you know who played Glinda The Good Witch?

  • Judith McCauley

  • great!

    best story ever told

  • wow
