  • the only time i see cattle in this natural position is when there draging them into the dead cattle truck

  • iv never seen a farmer do that. You are a prity good farmer

  • This is awesome! The cow seems so relaxed. Mani pedi anyone. So glad his is humane. And serously wish that we could use some kind of machine like this on horses lol

  • Great video. The cow looks happy and relaxed. I like the rollover crush. I have seen cows get damaged in these WOPA crushes. They kick their feet, possibility of them sitting down on the belly band. Or just going into the crush and sitting down, when they get up they can damage themselves. Hate the bloody things, and a knightmare for the trimmer. Lifting every foot and bending down all day.

Once again great video, and what make is the crush?

  • You are standing teh whole day awry, toward the cow. Is it not easyer to lift just the hoof?

    Rg from Holland

  • You stand awry toword the cow the whole day. Much better to lift just the feet??

Off the whole crush. Gr from Holland

  • No this way the cows feet are in a much more natural position and "daisy" gets to lay down for 5 minutes LOL

  • @seanofselby Each hoottrimmer thinks his way doning the job is the best We did roll over just by having a rennet-stomach by the cows.

The point about dagaded cows, percentage off al cows to be hooftrimd it is not mutch. It is a good job you, are doing thare.

    great music to

  • I want one for shoeing Shetland ponies!

  • yep dont think they,ll stop as still as cows thou LOL

  • the video is under" hoof trimming chute by rileybuilt"

  • hey wonder whats in the white sac behind you

  • sawdust keeps the slurry at bay LOL

  • iv been told that the roll over crushes cause a lot of stress on the cows, and many abort calves ...is this true

  • Certainly not as can be seen in this vid the cow lies quiet with very little stress.Ive used this crush for 9 years and aint had 1 abortion yet.

  • if they were allowed the proper amount of space to move around and access to the outdoors their feet would naturally wear down and they wouldn't need trimmed nearly as often, if at all.

  • This is true but if we had this perfect world there would be no supermarkets no western excess's and we would all have a medieval diet....................No thanks

  • Actually, we can keep the modern lifestyle (supermarkets & excesses included) and fix this problem by choosing to consume a plant-based (vegan being ideal) diet. Then there would be much fewer cattle because we wouldnt be breeding them for consumption, and therefore there would be adequate space for those remaining.

  • are you seriouse!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Yes, I am. If you disagree, I would love to hear your reasons. I am always open for discussion. Feel free to send me a message :)

  • The cow's feet need to be trimmed to keep the weight evenly distributed and help keep her walking normally. Routine trimming is done twice a year normally. If a cow has a sore foot she may be trimmed more often to correct her problem. Sometimes a special block is glued on the good toe to take the weight off a really sore toe.

  • Thanks 4 that couldnt have put it any better myself

  • OK ..help a city boy out here...what's the purpose of them trimming their feet; and how often do they have to do it.

  • great vid..we used to get ours trimmed but we where finding the bills a bit high, so we are trying to do them on site between us as we went on a course a few months ago.

  • Sean great video. I have been saying to our vet and our regular foot trimmer to look into crate such as yours. But they both decline and prefer to tie the cow, and strangle her leg before work!

If you get a chance- I'd love to see some more vids. Very interesting seeing how little the cow moves, and not once did she shake her head. Why this isn't more common is beyond me? Fair play for taking the gamble with the initial investment!

  • Thanks for that farmboy 1973 , roll over crushes are like marmite you either love them or hate them , the cow is very calm in a turn over crush

    regards sean

  • this new song sucks compared to the old song for the video

  • i agree had to change it or they woulnt let me keep it on copyrights and all that :-(

  • 500 a month or week? I had around 640 this past week alone.

  • Thats 500 a month if you did 640 in the last week you wouldnt havetime to be on here.

P.S dont forget to shut the front gate when trimming, ive herd you can trim a lot with the front gate open LOL ;-)

  • hi sean hope ya both well nice to see ya workin hard lol lots of love julie, leigh & boys xx

  • Just an enquiry from another foot trimmer (no where near your area though!) Where did you get those clippers from and how much were they?

  • ha you only trim 500 cows a month i worked with an vertical lift chute in wisconsin we had 2 people to a chute and we averaged 11 cows an hour abt 80 cows a day.and we knifed out to we made alot of money

  • with our appleton Htl chute we can get up to 30 cows/hr on routine trims with 2 category 1 dutch trained trimmers and 2 guys loading, we put 225 cows through in 9 hours on monday but more important is the quality of the job

  • Steve, thats a cow every 2 min. and 40 sec. for 9 hours straight, I'm callin BS on that

  • youve got to see it to believe it look at the you tube video on my channel . 2 cows are trimmed in 2mins 25 seconds.

we can only achieve this on maintenance trims with 2 of us trimming and 2 loading but with our £40,000 appleton htl its possible so before you call it BS come and see it working. what machines have you seen working and what experience do you have of hooftrimming??

  • Been trimming for 10 years now, ran a dairy for 20 years and born and raised on a dairy. you might be able to do what you say, but what happen when you get into a herd when you do a bunch of blocks to put on in the freezeing weather, or hairy foot wart on most of the cows to wrap. Big feet with alot of ulcers. I could see doing 225 cows with 4 people in a perfect setup with no problems but I'll never live to see that. BTW, you loseing any dairys to the CWT Buy outs??

  • with 2 trimmers and 2 cows movers id say wouldnt take much longer

  • Gud foot triming d local man round us is ian graham bt we do them ourselves av jus bn on a course which area do u work in?

  • Are you dutch qualified mate ,if so what category are you you seem to know your way round that cows feet good job.

  • Thank you very much for the great video. I watched it and a few others and I was impressed with the speed of the grinder vrs by hand. What kind of grinder blade do you use?

  • Hi yes the grinder blade is a specailist blade with six cutting knives on. wouldnt like to do a day with a knife

  • do you trim cows feet for a liveing ,id guess you do

  • hi, yes me and my wife trim about 500 per month

  • does it hurt the cow?

  • no the cow does not get hurt

  • Oh good, cuz it would make me sad to see the pain of the cow!!!

  • How/why did you get into trimming? I started due to not being able to get a farrier come out to my farm to trim just my two horses (they all wanted to pound nails/shoes, more shod horses = more money) so I signed on as an apprentice. If you don't mind me asking, how much do you get per cow? Is it a flat fee or do you factor travel expenses, etc.

  • Interesting video.

  • I trim barefoot horses and have SO many questions about trimming cows - it looks similar - less voluntary! All the horses stand and let me do my work, no chutes, etc. How long have you been doing it? Do you charge per cow? I know cow and horse hooves are different - how do you know how much to cut off? Are the black/brown part on the hoof bottom toward the heel bruises? Great vid - thanks for sharing

  • Hi thanks for the comment ive been trimming cows feet for 6 years.we charge per cow and there is levels that we use for amounts to take off .The black brown parts are pigment in the hoof simmilar to the markings on the cow. Any red parts that apear on cows are bruising
