the hummers where in the stock heavy weight class. which means the body, engine, suspension, tire size and drivetrain need to be stock. the only items allowed to be modified are paint, interior, and lighting systems. all of the trucks in this class also must have a score legal safety cage
who cares about what hummers weigh or how much they cost because they were originally designed for the military. Hummers were built for functionality, but now everyone has to have one to make a statement which is bullshit.
Yeah and GM built hem with no armor for the troops protection during production, a joke then and still is today... Look at the Dr. Porsche's creation light years ahead of GM/Chevy, Dodge and Jeep. VW the original off road weapon of choice!!
i totally agree no hummer will be a good offraoder. i have a 90 jeep on 31s thats done more than an h1 and its 145,000 dollars cheaper i got it fo 1,000
Im seeing alot of trucks with really nasty suspension geometry. When the suspension is fully extended, the camber goes way out. You want a little bit of that, but not when its to the point that your tires are at a 45 degree angle when your about to land. I have seen too many crashes from that.
You lose, Mr. Not-Engineer. If you design the suspension geometry correctly, you can get a desirable camber curve. Ask the CORR guys, or anyone remotely educated in engineering. Its a simple four-bar linkage.
even if you try to get a desierable camber curve an i beam truck will have awful camber changes the only problem i saw was todd wyllies truck go to in on the jumps
Once again, I will state it simply. Engineer it well, it will work well. If you think its going to have awful camber changes, there are plenty of things that can be done to remedy it.
Then a level of common sense must be applied. If you are going to go for such a large suspension travel, an I-beam setup is not the way to go. You can only go so far with an I-beam suspension. There is only so much travel you can get out of an I-beam suspension before you create a hazard. If you are going to do that class, stay reasonable, and stay safe. If you are going to go crazy on the suspension travel, go with a double wishbone suspension. Its racing common sense.

Class 10, unlimited suspension, 2.0 or 1.6 liter engine -- can be very fast.

if you knew anything youd know that i-beamed trucks always go off camber when theyre mid-air

I hope this doesn't blow your mind too much...
