It is impossible for something to come from nothing. If you find footprints in the sand you would automatically assume someone walked there not that it appeared out of nowhere. The Quran was written 1430 years ago. It includes scientific facts that were only discovered recently e.g. the splitting of the moon. That should be enough for anyone to believe in the Quran. @MrJonesgg Christians have never had a qibla facing Jerusalem. The Gospel teaches Christians to pray with a correct attitude but not facing in a certain direction. Some early Christians faced eastward as a sign of Christ's future coming from the east but most Christians do not follow that tradition.

You referred to Imam Ali compiling a 'compeletely different' Quran in the first few minutes of your video. This is not true.
The Quran was completed and presented in book form within the lifetime of the Prophet Mohammed. Period. The Quran must be divine due to its unique nature. The most talented of Arabs could not challenge it, both then and now. If you truely want to understand this point, I recommend a PhD in Arabic literature. When i read the Qur'an it is true that it is like poetry but the type of expressions, and sentence structure used is so powerful that no human being could have written. Lots of people tried to come up with verse similar to the Quran but they couldn't at all. Learn arabic and read the Qur'an. Even Christian Arabs realize this.
How do you know whether or not I know any Arabic? I speak 3 languages, you have no way of knowing whether Arabic is one of them or not.

You are forgetting that this challenge hasn't only been issued to the people of today, as you suggest, but was also issued to the doubters of the Quran's authenticity AT THE TIME of its revelation. These were Arab people who spoke this language and, like you also mentioned, held oral poetry in the highest esteem.

This is not proof that Uthman (ra) authored the Quran. What Uthman (ra) did was compile it in a book form. As for Imam Ali (as) he didn't have a different Quran. He had a Quran which differed on the order of chapters. The Quran before Uthman's time was not in a form of a book. It was written on tree barks. So as a ruler he decided to gather the chapters and put it in a book form. When Imam Ali (as) saw that the ruler had compiled the Quran before him he reviewed it and accepted it.

I entirely agree with your overall conclusions; that the Qur'an is a compilation of stories created by a wide range of people sometimes using their own imaginations or else through adaptation of other people's already well known stories and ideas.

Of course virtually none of the Qur'an was actually "written" during Muhammad's life in any case since paper was non-existent there & vellum an extraordinary luxury. It was normal to engage many people to simply memorise then perform or recite such "works" (no matter how dubious) - obviously this led to even more confusion & yet more competing versions (condensed into "modes")...
On careful & very thorough examination the Qur'an is in fact an extremely confused & poor quality pirated "edition" of near random selections from everyone else's already long existing oral traditions (often stretching back many centuries or even more) from that time and region.

By using time-worn technique of deflection, blaming the vague translation and then using the vague translation when you want it to mean something else, you manage to avoid the questions...If most muslims were well versed in classical Arabic then they wouldn't need 'experts' like Zakir Naik to explain it's meaning to them....There are many ex-muslims on here who can verify the Arabic and back up the scale of each error.

I would caution against taking these stories at face value. These stories of the Koran's creation are much later and probably fabrications.
The best guide we have is that nobody outside of Islam heard of the Koran until about 720. This is the best date to go by. We may suppose that the Koran was created relatively close to this time, probably post 700.

And it is the one which is in the hands of the people,and is not greater in extent than that. The number of surahs as generally accepted is one hundred and fourteen ...And he who asserts that we say that it is greater in extent than that, is a liar."

As quite a while had passed since the 4 scribes had started writing the Quran (over 23 years) their copies were affected by the element of time so Zaid was given all four of the copies and out of them all he would pick whichever objects, on which the Verses were written, were in the best condition and formed a compilation of the Quran still consisting of bones and leather.

It is impossible for something to come from nothing. If you find footprints in the sand you would automatically assume someone walked there not that it appeared out of nowhere. If you were to drop a glass you wouldn't find a bunch of other tiny glasses sitting in a row you would find pieces all over. @MrJonesgg Christians have never had a qibla facing Jerusalem. The Gospel teaches Christians to pray with a correct attitude but not facing in a certain direction. Some early Christians faced eastward as a sign of Christ's future coming from the east but most Christians do not follow that tradition.

You referred to Imam Ali compiling a 'compeletely different' Quran in the first few minutes of your video. This is not true.
The Quran was completed and presented in book form within the lifetime of the Prophet Mohammed. Period. The Quran must be divine due to its unique nature. The most talented of Arabs could not challenge it, both then and now. If you truely want to understand this point, I recommend a PhD in Arabic literature. This will make your allegations more credible.

@NaomiChambers I leaned Arabic when i was at a very young age, i know Arabic fluently, you don't and so i don't expect you to fully understand the book. When i read the Qur'an it is true that it is like poetry but the type of expressions, and sentence structure used is so powerful that no human being could have written. Lots of people tried to come up with verse similar to the Quran but they couldn't at all. Learn arabic and read the Qur'an. Even Christian Arabs realize this.

How do you know whether or not I know any Arabic? I speak 3 languages, you have no way of knowing whether Arabic is one of them or not.
But - you have just proven that the Quran IS NOT universally valid. As most people do not speak Arabic ( 6 billion world population) then you have just admitted that MOST people will never TRULY understand the Quran.

Your "Create a Surah of Equal Merit" argument has obviously not been thought through. You are forgetting that this challenge hasn't only been issued to the people of today, as you suggest, but was also issued to the doubters of the Quran's authenticity AT THE TIME of its revelation. These were Arab people who spoke this language and, like you also mentioned, held oral poetry in the highest esteem.

This is not proof that Uthman (ra) authored the Quran. What Uthman (ra) did was compile it in a book form. As for Imam Ali (as) he didn't have a different Quran. He had a Quran which differed on the order of chapters. The Quran before Uthman's time was not in a form of a book. It was written on tree barks. So as a ruler he decided to gather the chapters and put it in a book form. When Imam Ali (as) saw that the ruler had compiled the Quran before him he reviewed it and accepted it.

To have you read their words first and surround yourself with their customs, cultures for people that otherwise wouldn't do so.

There's absolutely nothing "miraculous" or "perfect" about the Qur'an, let alone "divine".
Claims that it secretly holds scientific knowledge or information is NONSENSE - the product of desperation & delusion from a people whose obsession with "submission" has for 14 centuries blighted their lives & made them INCAPABLE of any positive form of creativity or productivity.
That's why Muslims have contributed so little to the world, other than horror & fear.

I entirely agree with your overall conclusions; that the Qur'an is a compilation of stories created by a wide range of people sometimes using their own imaginations or else through adaptation of other people's already well known stories and ideas.
I have demonstrated these points time and again in many of my own talks (some of which I have offered "in response" to your excellent talk - I hope you are willing to accept them)....

Of course virtually none of the Qur'an was actually "written" during Muhammad's life in any case since paper was non-existent there & vellum an extraordinary luxury. It was normal to engage many people to simply memorise then perform or recite such "works" (no matter how dubious) - obviously this led to even more confusion & yet more competing versions (condensed into "modes")...

I agree with many of the things you say, however I think you're being far too generous (or possibly naive, though I doubt that is the case) towards Muslims in general & Muhammad in particular when enthusing about the Qur'an being a "rich literary work" & full of "poetry".

By using time-worn technique of deflection, blaming the vague translation and then using the vague translation when you want it to mean something else, you manage to avoid the questions...If most muslims were well versed in classical Arabic then they wouldn't need 'experts' like Zakir Naik to explain it's meaning to them....There are many ex-muslims on here who can verify the Arabic and back up the scale of each error.

didn't you know that the earliest version of the quran in yemen , called Sana manuscripts , was written in arabic script with no vowel markings?
and it wasn't even written in arabic
it was written in an archaic language classified as a south semetic language and not west semetic

the language the Sana manuscripts were written in was closer to ethiopian (amharic) than arabic, aramaic and hebrew :P

@ NaomiChambers: Maam, I was not quoting Quran to prove itself; I was quoting it as it accurately appeals to the Modern Logic called: Self-reference, which it's proponents, like Godel affirms. One of my favorite quote of Godel is:
"I like Islam, it is a consistent idea of religion and open-minded"
But of course, you're ducking away from that.

Indeed the author of the Koran is aware of self-reference and the Koran passes the test of the "mention" of words as the word "Ikhteelafun (contradictions)," is just mentioned ONCE in the whole Koran in this particular verse. Not many (Kathirun) times, but only once. Coincidence? NO!

The Quran contains Self-reference. It takes into consideration the "use" and the "mention" of words. When you "use" a word, it is the meaning of the word that is implied. When you "mention" a word, you are talking about the word and not its meaning...

One always has to be careful about accepting a religious groups official interpretation of their history.
For example, orthodox Jews claim Moses wrote the five books of the Torah. Secular scholars suggest it was put together between 500-1000 years after his alleged time period.
As John Victor Tolan notes in his book Saracens, even in the late Seventh Century, there are few mentions of Islam, and Muhammad is known as a military leader, not a religious person or founder of a religion

I congratulate you on your research. It does present the contradictions shown in the orthodox Islamic versions of how the Koran came about.
I would caution against taking these stories at face value. These stories of the Koran's creation are much later and probably fabrications.
The best guide we have is that nobody outside of Islam heard of the Koran until about 720. This is the best date to go by. We may suppose that the Koran was created relatively close to this time, probably post 700.

So what Uthman(ra) burnt was the differently "spelt" Qurans so that they would only be written in the Quraishi text. 3.Under the Caliphate of Abu Bakr the Cheif Scribe known as Zaid ibn Thabit was asked to make a compilation of the Quran. As quite a while had passed since the 4 scribes had started writing the Quran (over 23 years) their copies were affected by the element of time so Zaid was given all four of the copies and out of them all he would pick whichever objects, on which the Verses were written, were in the best condition and formed a compilation of the Quran still consisting of bones and leather.

handwriting on leather, bones leaves etc which was reviewed by the Prophet(saw) many times. Aside
from them there were approximately 200 people who had memorized the entire Quran.Tens of those
people died in the battle of Yammama.That is when Umar(RA) suggested that the Quran be compiled into a 'Mushaf 'or book.

I wish I could find an agent for the book I just finished. It reflects what you mentioned plus the historical environment and the influence of the Bibles and Persian/Hindu folklore.
Every claim by Muslims regarding their basis for a belief falls apart if you only look for it. I have asked many believers in Islam to provide me ONE fact that is true in their book and prove it. Not one has taken up the task. Pity.

I believe that the majority parts of the Quran were "LIFTED" from the Bible, Torah, Greek/Roman mythology, and other sources like old pagan practices.
There are many, many of the same references taken from the bible and the torah. Plus over trains of thinking during that time.

Because it very close to the canonized quran, but it has some verses that are a little different. And the sana manuscript is the oldest quran in existence, i think. Its from about 700 or 800 and it is different than the quran we have to day, the canonized one.
I just laugh when muslims claims that the quran is somehow objectively perfect. Its so arrogant and stupid.

The Satanic verses were taken out, but there are early references of the Satanic Verses which showed that Muhammad was controlled by Shaytaan (Satan).
