@TheManwithafan because the raptors are smart. you think they are stupid cause they did the right thing. 1 - on principle, predators kill only if they are hungry, but the raptors were smart. 2 - the raptors had to kill one man to show the people that they are serious and would do anything to get their eggs back. 2 - the raptors got their eggs back, they didn't have to kill more, cause the egg stealing and the death of udesky was a matter of an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth.

2/2 and when he blew into the chamber first he made an aggressive call, then manage to awkwardly manage a cry for help (which appears in all jp's I believe) basically he achieved what parrots do, mimic'ed what he had heard before. and the raptors didnt hear helicopters, they heard a loud noise they didnt recognize, moving towards them very fast so they took there prize (the eggs) and left the group to what ever was coming at them, people stop over analyzing trying to find stuff to bitch about

This scene is underrated in JP3 because it shows that unlike the T-Rex and most other carnivores, raptors aren't exactly mindless killing machines, they have personalities, they can plan, strategize and communicate, which wasn't fully explored in JP and TLW JP.

The raptors were definitely going to kill, no, EXECUTE the humans. However, they probably detected the US navy approaching and decided to leave without delay.

Now that I think about it, if Grant and the others had perished in the island interior, it meant that the soldiers would've had to search the place for them. That would have been great to see. Especially if one of them had accidentally crushed a raptor egg.
