The pocketstation is not a handheld console, it is simply a cheesy gimmick, an expensive memory card. If that was included, then why not mention the Dreamcast VMU? which was far more successful but very similar (far from perfect).

The Mega JET is not a handheld, it is basically a controller.

you missed the "Supervision" console, it was made by Quickshot. They released it around 1992 (don't quote me on that though). It was a massive failure and meant to be the Gameboy killer. I owned one, and sold it on for a Game Gear.

As time went on the GB hard ware got easier to produce and smaller. Remember the super Game Boy that allowed you to play GB games on your SNES? It also supported color so people started programing colors into the games for the SGB. All the GBs prior to the GBA were basically the same under the hood. The GBC just had a built in color screen so that you didn't have to use the SGB to get color on it.

The GBA was the first real advancement for Nintendo in like 10 years back in the day.
