@MrCaCaaaaaaaaa As contradictory to myself as this may seem, I don't really follow a great many of comic characters. I have a very small selection of things I follow and Ghost Rider isn't really one of them. I own the Punisher/Ghost Rider crosses in their original format, but I don't really follow Ghost Rider.
Because of such, I found the G.R. movie entertaining, mostly because I like Nick Cage and have no attatchment to the comics. Thus, I was able to enjoy the movie. *chuckle*
@bO0Bi3zm4K3M3SmIl3 (2 weeks later...) Yeah, I've often wondered the same thing myself. Just about every comic character has some sort of loyal following of people who "religiously" buy the comics of said character. Killing off any character has always seemed like "sales suicide" to me. The cynic in me says they're only killing of a specific character to bring them back in some new form.
I'm at least glad The Darkness hasn't been ruined by Top Cow yet they just keep making it longer and longer so it's a pain in the ass to keep up with the series, especially with its 8 million crossovers with DC, Marvel, and other Top Cow franchises.
Unless I'm mistaken this is Ultimate Marvel Universe so things a bit different than the normal Marvel Universe. I don't read Ultimate Marvel so I'm not too familiar with the storylines, but form what I read the Punisher was captured and is being forced by Nick Fury to become a Captain America type figure with a chip implanted in him to make him follow orders.
Personally I don't see it being a big deal, as it's a separate universe. If it was normal marvel I wouldn't be as cool with it.
Hey, Ramsay, did you play the Punisher game that was released for the original Xbox and PS2? I recommend you pick it up if you get the chance, it's a great 3PS with a unique interrogation aspect that's probably a bit more fun than it should be. If you find a copy it's backwards compatible with the 360 and you can probably find it in the used game section of Gamestop for like, 8 bucks.
@pkirk61871 Of-fucking-course! It is probably my second-favorite video game of all time! I still own my copy for PS2, and it is the reason that I refuse to sell or give away my remaining PS2 consolse.
Wait...WHAT! Thats so messed up, this is why I only read punisher Max, Interesting thing is as Spiderman pointed out in Civil War while doing it in different ways they are fighting the same war and are essentilly opposites of thesame guy. I can still remember the outcry in the issues of Cap that followed 911 when he broke the neck of a terrorist and every one was wait Cap dosen't kill thats messed up, personally I had no problem with it!
@lawnboyspost1975 I haven't read Civil War. I guess I probably should. I usually wait for the larger, more important story arcs to come out in Graphic novel format, because I like having the entire story in one book. Must look into it, I guess.
@dont6sue4me0 I have not heard this specifically. But, admittedly, I am quite a bit out of date as to what is currently going on in the Marvel Universe, for reasons stated in the video.
There is a deep connection betweent the two as was explored in Civil War.
Steve is what America wants to be: Frank is what it is. What makes it even more magical is Frank knows this.
I haven't read War Journal II yet but the moment in which he picks up the mask it makes sense. He is basically carrying on the position that Rogers abandoned and fighting the new Registration act with the Captain's insignia.
@DarthAzabrush As mentioned in a previous comment response, I guess I have to break down and go ahead and read Civil War. Do you know if it is out in Graphic Novel format yet? That's how I prefer to read the larger, more significant arcs.
Hadn't thought of the comparison the way you stated it previously. It's a wonderful idea, though. Thank you.
@RantingRamsay It is a bit of a con in that to get the Civil War overall arc you need the Civil War novel and to get Frank's perspective you need War Journal 1: Civil War. Both are good reads though.
The odds I come here RIGHT AFTER watching some Linkara videos. I'm not a particular big comic book fan but that's just me yet...I do feel if you are going to work with a Comic book character, then some liberties are fine. I like Batman, and there are different interpretations of said character. Yet certain elements SHOULD remain the same...I don't know, without knowing the source material, I can't offer much else to the table.
You mentioned several important differences of this two characters... I don't really know if there is going to be a "new" time line dimmension on this, but could be interesting see Casttle giving a hole new personality to Captain America, as for example at DC universe Azrael became Batman for a period of time... If this is going to happen, hope Marvel keeps a good care of this.
Didn't they do something just like this like 7 years ago? I distinctly remember Frank dressing up as his own version of Cap and fighting some neo-nazis.
@NULLcHiLD2 That may have been just some tactical play on Frank's part, to complete his given objective. I am VERY out of date, and have spent most of my time re-reading the "Essential Punisher" volumes (I currently have 3) and the hard-bound graphic novels I have of the "Welcome Back Frank" arcs.
@RantingRamsay I'm not well-versed in the Marvel Universe and I don't remember it too well. I think the whole deal was that Cap had recently died or something and Frank was dressing as him for a symbolic reason, like Neo-Nazi America vs "Truth/Justice" America or something...
@itstheit I may have to look into this. Plus, my computer needs an overhaul. I think the degeneration in my video quality is linked to my computer needing an "enema", and maybe a little more RAM. I have a lot of junk/crap taking up space on this PC, and I've noticed a slowdown in it's operation in the past few months. A new camera in combination with some heavy cleaning on the hard drive will probably do some good. Thanks for the suggestion.
@RantingRamsay It wasn't meant to insult; a guy who puts out what you put out may not want the medium to be a distraction.
My present laptop, despite its newness, has a camera only adequate to suit my needs, so I had to upgrade. My previous laptop had pretty crummy RAM, by today's standards; I compensated by turning off all applications (including disabling antivirus software). With you, there may even be an option to up the frame rate on your camera software, if it's installed.
I really think it's my computer's poor performance bringing down the visual quality of my videos. I'm using the same camera when I started and the image quality has degraded. I will try these things you suggest.
@ZerrickiShadow I'd probably have to say "Welcome Back Frank" by Garth Ennis (mostly illustrated by Steve Dillon) is probably my favorite The Punisher series. Both of the first two major story arcs are, in my opinion, VERY amusing.
@ninetalescommander Oh, the Punisher is a fun character if you like violence, innovation, and improvisation. Plus, Frank Castle (the Punisher) has no real "super powers", other than maybe an other-worldly threshold for pain.
One of the things that I like about the Punisher is that it's never a full-on win. Quite often Frank gets FUCKED UP in the process of accomplishing his goal, which in my opinion gives him a very "human" or "vulnerable" quality.
@ninetalescommander Innovating is introducing new things or methods into a previous plan or creating a whole new plan "on-the-fly". Frank often does this when something he plans out does not go the way he wants to. Innovation can often be done by improvising, which basically means to "compose perform or deliver without previous preparation.
@iiBigfootii Actually, the opening animation was created for me by another user who authorized it's usage (and eventual usage for monetary gain) in exchange only for the experience of creating the graphic (he was a graphic arts student at the time).
Sadly, the name of the user escapes me, or I would ask them if they patterned the "R"s after Rammstein, for the question has come up every now and again.
@Delorean702 You should look into DeadPool. His comics are quite fun. :) He is the only comic character in the Marvel Universe that is COMPLETELY AWARE that he is a comic character, and often breaks the forth wall for the amusement of the reader. You should check it out. :)
Read Berserk. The philosophical arguments combined with historical references to the power hungry vatican in the middle ages combined with beautiful artwork and a captivating story should be right up your alley. As a big comic book / manga guy, its the greatest piece of modern fictional literature I have ever read. Think Dantes Inferno but with the opposite message and the most brutal antihero and complex characters I have ever seen.
Also thank you for the great videos. I have uploaded a new video thanking you for your bump and also addressing an incresingly frustrating topic for me. Once again thanks man.
@vivian1116c Thank you kindly. I am a long-time supporter of the Crew, and have been to many games. (I live just a scant 45 minute drive from the stadium). They're bringing on a lot of young talent while retaining veterans like Chad Marshall and Robbie Rogers. I hope they can pull it together for another Cup run this-coming season.
@NULLcHiLD2 kinda like an example I made up. :P but I hope DC doesn't read my comment and actually go with that lol I'd be pissed at myself lol so yea it was like a joke.
@Delorean702 I enjoyed both movies, to be perfectly honest. I thought Ray Stevenson in War Zone actually portrayed a pretty good version of the Maxx series Punisher.
