  • Great !

  • OMG ... 33 fans of justin bieber ...

  • This is the best so far.

  • 33 People tried to find lyrics for this song.

  • I love how passionately he plays, almost like he's dragging you into the song itself...beautiful!

  • absolutely beautiful! This can NOT get any better than that...bravo!

  • ....Hellsing brought me here....

  • Great!!! :D

  • Bravissimo!!!!!!!

  • wow... brutal !!

  • With this fingers...GIVE HIM ONE BASS GUITAR!!! :D

  • @TheMetalko You idiot, he is a classical guitar player! he doesn't need a stupid bass guitar! he is a concert guitarist! Bloody moron!

  • I like how he turns his eyes to the audience at some points. It's like saying "I wish you could only feel the way I do".

  • Fantastic!

  • Excelente!!!!

  • speechless... the only word that comes to my mind is... bravissimo!

  • you are the maestro... congratulations

  • Google: Podrian crear otro boton que diga "Espectacular"? Con "me gusta" es poco ;D

  • Fantastic

  • btw this guys Awesome!

  • I want to say something to those who say: Oh he's so much perfect that i cannot feel anithing!; or: Oh i do not like his searching for perfection!. First: if you do not own a guitar go to a shop, buy one and try to execute this song as he does. If you play guitar i'm almost sure you cannot play this masterpiece, But in the case you can do all those things, go for a camera, record your self playing this and let's see how do you play it because you will see the crappy you seem compared to azabagic

  • It looks like some robot is playing, it's too perfect to make me feel anything, especially for the Allegro Solemne.

  • @HailToJackDaniels

Would you rather he made mistakes?

  • @HailToJackDaniels Actually, is so perfect that you can feel everything

  • How is this recorded, audio wise? i didn't see any mics.

  • fuck me the 3rd movement is fast!!!

  • Damn...and I thought Ana Vidovic was good.

  • @Theonedue Ana is good! but Azabagic is better!

  • The hammer-ons on mv.3 are just ridic.

  • Wow,

what a high standart of guitarmusic.

    Best regards

    Ibuki from germany

  • This is impressive, but I had to notice that there are some things wrong with this performance. It seems as if every single note was played at the same volume and he didn't really separate the melody from everything else at all. It sounds a lot nicer when certain parts are played quieter then others. And also, the third part was honestly way too fast to even enjoy the music. It sure is impressive that he can play it like that but it seriously didn't sound good at all.

  • @mercuryman9 I totally agree. compare this with john williams version, for interpretation and feeling williams takes the piss!

  • best song ever written

  • @jacobrentzntz Try Concierto De Aranjuez 2nd Movement Adagio

  • Simply the best rendition on youtube thus far.

  • Impresionante.........................!!!!!!

  • played by heart not hands!

  • AMAZING interpretation.

  • Genius. Absolutely remarkable.

  • 31 people MUST be huuge ynwie malmsteen fans

  • @cessationofwill89 i dislike both Malmsteen and Azabegic for the same reason: searching for technical perfection. Still, both are very good guitar teachers.

  • @6stringhawk no offense, but if one needs to play a piece better than someone to talk about it, their wouldn't be many comments here. I dislike the San Miguel beer, but I can't tell it because i'm not a brewer? I just say I don't like the way he plays it. I really prefer Bertha Roja's interpretation and David Russel's, that's all I say. Anyway, for the two first parts, I use Azabagic's version to practice, they are very pedagogical and that's why I watch this video every day! Have a nice day.

  • @HailToJackDaniels i didn't say that you have to be better, i just tried to make you see that your comment (Still, both are very good guitar teachers) doesn't make any sense, because as you said, not everyone has the same musical taste, and if he's only useful for teaching guitar.......... I absolutely disagree with you

  • @HailToJackDaniels That doesn't make sense. I prefer Shin-Ichi Fukuda over Azabagic, Russell and Rojas (all really great performances), but it doesn't mean they are only good for educational purposes.

Then again, listen to the first few notes of the second movement. Such wonderful interpretation silences me. You need to listen to the interpretation with your heart, not your head.

  • @cessationofwill89 I'm a huge Yngwie Malmsteen fan and I love this classical music.

  • Perfect speed.

  • 0:05 Preludio Saudade

    1:59 Andante Religioso

    3:53 Allegro Solemne

  • may be a little fast, but amazing sound and feelings.

  • agreed too fast

  • TO FAST!!!!

  • Anyone know what guitar he has

  • @ipoodaily Right now, i mean the last concert I attended (4th Jan, 2012), he used Steve Connors.

  • excellent performance of this masterpiece

  • THis is absolutely divinely played and so much expression! Beautiful interpretation.

  • PERFECTION!!!!!!!!!

  • This is by far the best interpretation of this song I've heard... only Barrios could play it better.

  • @TheNietzshe93 Much of it has to do with his excellent fingerings. Go to classtab org where I tabbed this according to his fingerings here.

  • jesus that was so amazing i farted.... in a good way

  • Complimenti!

  • Perfect tempo.

  • please dont start taking offense like everyone on all of these videos but i think hes going to fast to display all of the emotion this song has to offer.

  • @Redmilitiageneral please don't take offense but that is absolute rubbish. Slower doesn't mean more feeling. More Rubato doesn't necessarily mean more feeling.

  • @LutenistDeMari lol. i warned you to not be offende because this may be your favorite or whatever it may be, but you assumption is incorrect. i didnt mean that slower means more feeling, i mean at this pace, the player is unable to create slight nuances that allow him to display emotion. do you play?

  • @Redmilitiageneral Yes I do. You are simply not listening, or unable to get used to this tempo. I hear many slight nuances in this performance...example: Listen to the subtle diminuendo and rallentando as the theme begins at 0:50. And then the slight diminuendo at 1:00... then follows a crescendo as he moves down the neck - only to relax again at about 1:12, followed by a sudden crescendo at about 1:17 so that all the music from 1:17 to 1:30 is somewhat more serious in character, more urgent.

  • @Redmilitiageneral Also, its not a 'song'. What do you mean 'all the emotions'? how many are there in this 'song'? 10? 100? 150? Music is not absolutes - you cannot simply say: this is too fast to display all the emoitions. And you cannot judge the 'nuances' based on a youtube sound file - although I can hear plenty of nuance in this performance. Try to separate these two things: is it really an emotionless performance, or are you just not used to the faster tempo?

  • @LutenistDeMari grow up loser. you intentionally misinterpret what i say because your offended by my comment. get over it. and get off this guys sack however great a musician he may be, you need not attack people for an opinion. idiot.

  • Augustin Barrios Mangore, La Catedral and Denis Azabagic I will remember it forever. just AWSOME

  • u r the best 1 who plays this .....La Catedral wahooo :-)

  • zica mermo

  • first movement was too fast... more rubato... Barrios was a composer from the Romantic Era... other than that the other two movements are where they should be...

  • @ThousandRoseBurial hahaaa when do you think the 'romantic era' was.... Barrios was alive in the age of recording .... more of a 20th century thing don't you think?

  • Comment removed

  • @ThousandRoseBurial Barrios was still alive in the 1940's. But all this is ridiculous. The point is, You cannot tell a great artist like Azabagic that he is playing "too fast" and give the reason "because this is a romantic piece". Should all romantic pieces be slow? For me this tempo is excellent. The melody sings better at a quicker tempo. Its the same attitude that guitarists have with Villa Lobos prelude 1 "slower is more expressive" - rubbish.

  • Comment removed

  • @ThousandRoseBurial And my point is that the Melody IS being played slowly here, even if the overall 'tempo' is quick. Try singing the melody alone at Denis' tempo. That to me is very lento, but without being so slow that the melody becomes disconnected. You should listen to Barrios' own recordings - he often played the 'slow pieces' quite 'quick'. People today wrongly assume slower is more expressive, and rubato is more expressive.

  • 30 people dont have hands or have had them amputated....

  • is it my idea or he plays twice with index finger. i'm nor critisizing because i got the same problem. But all the rest is EXCELLENT. Nice vid and really good performance.

    Nice vid =)

  • @evilsizer18 No, he plays another string with the other finger

  • if you close your eyes you go to a different place when you listen to this

  • he looks just like justin bieber

  • @nannycrackers ur mother looks like justin beaver, u crack whore.

  • Fantastic perfomence

  • stunning

  • Great playing. I really like it.

30 People accidently pressed the wrong button!!

  • it's like the guitar is an external organ of his body.

  • It´s absolutely perfect!!!

  • this is the version that I like the cathedral, never seen such an interpretation, I love

  • best performance by far. He gets far more volume than most players. very powerful.i am going to see him live in two weeks.Cant wait

  • from Jose', the Hermeterec.......bullshit! All 30 of you thumbs down, naysaying pretenders to knowledge of guitar performance KNOW you loved this stunning delivery. How could you NOT?

  • I agree, this is the most impressive performance that has ever been done

  • amazing...so magical...this will gonna be my next guitar piece...

  • Gosh, i hate this guy.

  • You can even hear a different version of La catedral in the anime serie Hellsing. Composed by Ishii Yasushi. The second act is missing dough and replaced with some kind of Transylvania waltz which is supposed to bring out the feeling of The most powerfull and immortal vampire Alucard (Dracula if you switch the letters backwards) Still alive in London year 2002 I think, Ishii Yasushii's piece is also pretty amazing

  • This is the brother of my piano teacher.

  • What guitar are you using! It's great!

  • Denis, this is simply gorgeous. Artistry is wholly appropriate where you are concerned.

Richard Sayage - Savage Classical Guitar

  • holy shit. dont tell me he is only good technique wise. he is using tone, dynamics, vibrato.... he is feeling this piece !!!!

  • great, but technique wise i've seen better.

  • The best ! What fucking musicality ! You rock Denis !

  • I love the difference between comments left on a video of this sort and a video of a degenerate playing some sort of call of duty video game. The level of sophistication here is just omnipotent compared to useless videos "gamers" (as they call themselves) post.

  • @abdulios While I appreciate and understand what you mean, the whole reason I came to this video, and the reason I am attempting to learn this on piano is because of a video game. While I admit many video gamers don't have a sparkling reputation when it comes to leaving intelligent posts, I find it disheartening that people generalize, when there are gamers who are quite sophisticated and refined. Furthermore, video games can be a great way to introduce people to beautiful music by soundtracks.

  • @ThatWellDressedGuy I understand what you mean but how can one be introduced into a beautiful song such as this one through a video game such as call of duty? There are some video games out there in which reputable individuals do play; strategic games for instance, but the general stereotype for "gamers" is a lonely teenager playing on his Xbox talking disrespectfully to others who may have just started to play the game and are not too familiar with it. But I can see your point of view.

  • @abdulios I'll concede, the Call of Duy series does nothing for the introduction of such beautiful pieces into more mainstream gamers. Personally, the fourth installment of the Ace Combat series, an air combat simulator, contained some of the most moving and memorable pieces of music I have ever heard. Infact, La Catedral is the first song you hear in the game, during the prelude, and it always manages to stick in ones head. I wish more games had such wonderful qualities.

  • Perfection might not be of this world but man...that was damn close. DAMN close.

  • excellent

  • how do they get that great sustain? is it the acoustics of the room, the microphone, SFX they add on, or is it their guitar?

  • THAT is a fantastic interpretation of this beautiful masterpiece!

  • I think my balls just dropped

  • the 2nd and third movements are amazing tempos and wonderful playing all around!!!!!! I'd prefer he played the first slower though, it's a very dramatic movement.

  • 29 people do better than him. hahahahahahahaha ¬¬

  • @min4tsu and they don't know how to prove it xD

  • One of the finest pieces of guitar on the web xxx

  • far too fast for my liking, tone is superb though....

  • Great!

  • an amazing tour de force!

  • This song is also in Ace Combat 04.

  • agreed; this is a master, playing an incredible piece. too bad the microphone wasn't part of the act... we could have enjoyed it to the next level.

    awesome playing, no flaws.

  • He emphasises the bass notes too much in parts of the allegro for my liking, it drowns out the other notes. Maybe it's just the recording though.

  • Dear Tomsmuse1........Maestro Azabagic NEVER makes mistakes. He's a fabulous player, one of the finer in this world! your friend, Jose Sepulveda

  • bravissimo !!!!!

  • i luv this version but look at the video at 3:49 he looks like he's mid-sneeze

  • There are many people worried about someone who doesnt like the video, and write something about: "Oh, how can xx people miss the like button??"

Get a life, no one will thumb up your comments just like you want

  • wow. just beautiful. amazing work

  • wow..

  • How come 29 ppl dont like this??? This is a true master playing. Noone comes even close to play this with so much passion.

  • How come 29 ppl dont like this? This is a true master playing, noone comes near him playing this peace

  • la mejor interpretacion muy bien .....

  • vous êtes magnifique Denis !

  • Gospodan Azabagic plays this piece better than many other excellent musicians. He "gets it".

  • I would like to see someone cover this in percusions. with a special drum kit or something

  • rawwwww as fuckkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk

  • the best performance :)!

  • Magistral!

  • A very soulful interpretation of La Catedral. Thank you for sharing.

  • I seem to be completely absorbed into what he is playing. Well done performance.

  • Que buena interpretacion.

  • The best performance i've heard of this masterpiece.

  • @Corsair0077 that's a true!!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • A great interpretation, personally I think you emphasise teh staccato base line around 5:10 a little too heavily for my liking. your ending was pure genius though

  • Better tha Williams

  • There are no words to describe this performance. It's Fantastic !!! It's powerful and passionate, yet flowing and graceful. It is transcendant.

  • Cannot refrain from commenting – this is totally amazing. It's a bit funny to see people criticize his performance – people who never played and will never play even close to this level.

  • Deep !

  • I think undoubtedly the best version here on youtube!
