I am quite sure the horse is Park Hall, a terrific grey gelding Karen rode for several years at the top level in the late 1980s/early 1990s. The other version of this video posted includes announcer Nigel Casserly on the PA, so I'm guessing it's Rolex KY in the early 1990s.

Perfect example of why it is so important to teach a horse to stop and stand when something is going onto his back - or coming off of it. Also a perfect example of why no saddle should be sold without safety stirrups!

oh god, one of my worst fears is getting a leg caught like that in the stirrup. if people don't realize, that is what happened here. her right foot slipped through the stirrup and was around the horse's back. that is why she didn't put her feet on the ground - which would have been the logical approach to an incident like this.

@MyHorsePrince I think she was happy her foot was caught in the stirrup, otherwise she would just fallen off and would be disqualified -or get penalties-. Getting your foot caught is very dangerous normally, but here it's a life saver for Karen!

@LICKETYSPLITALNG well, this could of been a life or death situation. say if the horse spooked and took off she would be dragged. and sometimes the stirrup release bar doesnt work or gets stuck, like on my saddle (trust me, its happened)

so in this kind of situation, it would be right, even if she were to be disqualified, to help her, i would rather live then get disqualified. this was just on if the horse bolted. which can always be unpredictable

@1967ImpalaGal She's desperate not to let go because she would get hit with a lot of penalty points for a fall on course. She didn't touch the ground so it did not count as a fall. It was worth the effort.

Good horse for stopping. Most horses would panic and leave their riders dragging with stirrups. Those falls are probably the most dangerous of all, and Karen got VERY lucky!

Actually, at that time, a fall of rider was penalized 20 pts, only a second fall of rider or first fall or horse were cause for immediate elimination. But at that level, 20 pts would certainly knock you out of the running!
