I am happy that you found this helpful. Sorry we don't other videos on counting syllables in words, but we do have a few on oral blending (not the same thing, but it may be helpful - see Introduce Onset-Rime blending)

I think the purpose of counting words in a sentence is to fa miliarize students and make them aware that we speak words that compose a sentence. We spell words to make students aware of correct spelling patterns. We also can count words to make students aware that we can create sentences. Sentences are words written in symbols that represent a language in which we communicate  our thoughts.

Sorry for taking so long to reply to your post. The purpose of counting words in a sentence is to get kids use to breaking up parts of speech. First they break up words in a sentence and then they can break up syllables in words.
