I taught myself at first, but then I studied at 'The Violin Making School of America', in Salt Lake City UT. They have a three year program in teaching amazing skills i building musical instruments, violins, violas, and cellos. What I learned there I applied to my harp building. For general luthier,( musical instrunent building skills) there is still a school in Phoenix AZ, I believe. I suggest a Google search for Luthier Schools. Good Luck in your quest ! :-)
