i dont know who you are or if you work for a company or school i dont care i have to say if you really made this... i dont know what to say fuing awsome bro gratz
@jarheadkiller4755 A few hours work in a custom level editor really. It was a project for a very basic level design class, I didn't make the 3D models or textures (I could easily now but not when I did this seeing how old it is). It looks more impressive than it is though haha, if you pick up a copy of morrowind and play with the level editor it's pretty easy to do stuff like this once you learn all the commands and where to find stuff. The hardest part is just shaping the land.
@osmosys808 Haha, I know I know. This was years ago though and to be fair it was 3 person project on which I had to do all the work (yay for getting stuck with people that produce nothing).

@robloxaddict It was do to the engine, I wasn't able to get it to draw any further. The engine it used was built far back when PC's didn't have nearly close to the processing power they did now, thus the draw distance was capped at the range you see.
Requiem for a Dream, it's at the end credits bit and thank you very much. Made this a long while back so I'm currently doing all my own models and texturing (though it takes much longer than just assembling mostly pre-made stuff).
Yeah ,programming is pretty hard but texturing is i think harder, btw i make programs in visual basic 08. And i hope you make more great games like this!
For some perhaps, I'm an artistically minded individual though. Started on 2d work before I ever got into 3d, and to be honest it's still where my pashion lies.
I don't hate 3d artwork, don't get me wrong, but like many artists I have a lot of idea's and don't like spending to much time on just one of them, which with 3d modeling / level design is a bit of a tough thing to get over since you need to spend so much more time on them.
Photoshop for creating textures and maya for wrapping / unwrapping. I got mudbox a while back but haven't had the time to learn it. From what I understand it's fantastic at doing textures.
Thanks, I think I played Myst once, a long long time ago at my grandparents house (cousins that visited often left they're PS1 there). Though only a very short bit of it.
Unfortunately no, it's "the elder scrolls 3, morrowind" it's an old game 2001ish I want to say but not sure. I know it came out for the original x-box and pc though I'm not sure if the x-box version had an editor. You might find it in an old used bin at a gamestop maybe, but most likely you'd have to special order it or find a torrent download (illegal for the 2nd technically) if you wanted to get your hands on it.
Did you make the static models yourself? If so, those were really good and just needed animations for a real good model. And then a little tip I've learned over a while, is to take it slow when running around the map, don't snap the camera around so much. When you do that, it makes the runthrough seemed rushed, or like you were trying to hide something. It also doesn't let you take a good look at a lot of things.
In addition to my last post, we had a total of 3 minutes to show off what we had so I was a bit pressed for time, also the editor was very sensative to mouse movements so alas a slow flying camera was a bit of a no-go without being able to port this all into max and use a camera fly through that way, none the less many thanks for the crit. I've not had the chance to follow up in doing much level design sense but am interning with a studio doing character artwork concepts.
As stated in the info section on the side, I used the Elder Scrolls 3 game for modeling. The class only gave us a few weeks to really get our project done after initial planning so making everything from scratch wasn't at all feasable.
You may have seen the elder scrolls before as 90% of the objects I used in this fly through are from that game (just re-arranged, resized, etc. I could actually imported the entire land mass into the game and walked around after teleporting there to film the vid)
It comes with the original morrowind install disk for PC. There is a level designer which is what I used.
The class was basic, I'd much rather of had used 3ds max or something else to allow my own idea's and models to flow freely, alas the teacher wanted a full level done in a short period of time using pre-ready software.
I've worked one internship and have been attempting to get into the industry, alas yet I have not made it in (mind you I don't have my diploma yet).
However, I am about to attend (late may) an event at my college that has game developers present.... where I plan on trying to slide my demo reel in a few pockets and network some friends lol.
Thats cool man, good luck. Thats my biggest fear right now, is just getting a job once i graduate school. Im going to Full Sail University in Orlando Florida, and I'm 9 months into the program. I love it so far though. As of right now, i either want to be do animation, or shading and lighting. I like it all though haha.
do you get level design classes in collage or highschool? i am going to be freshmen next school year wich is this september and i want to be a level designer for video games

This was made off the game "The Elder Scrolls 3, Morrowind"
It's got a fantastic level editor but it's a much older game so it's going to be a bit though to find in stores.
It requires windows 98 or better I believe (been a long time).
