  • The lead singing, the harmonies and the instrumentation sound absolutely spot on. They never seem to do a bad version of a song

  • Agree, Ron.

  • this is 1 i like of the seekers its very true if u listen to the words

  • Put this or any of The Seekers songs on the radio today and younger listeners who had never heard of them would stop what they were doing to listen. They were and still are that good. Thanks for posting.

    Worldview66

  • @Worldview66 Yes I agree!

  • Outstanding!!! What a terrific group, just love their singing.no groups arond today that can do justice to these talented performers.

  • @muffaraman Yes I agree!

  • Oh, I love this song! Takes me to such a better time and place- thanks ever so much for the post!

  • Try Liam Clancy's and Tom Paxton's live version. Slower and mellower than this 'bouncy' Seeker's version.

  • Brilliant, thank you.

  • Sheer perfection, indeed. Good memories...

  • Jim Nabors ..Yeah Gomer....Sings Metallica...

  • Tom Paxton wrote this I believe and his version is very nice too, but I've got to vote for the Seeker their harmonies are perfect !!

  • I prefer Joe Frazier's version.

  • I prefer Neil Diamonds` version.

  • Pretty good version but I still prefer Marianne Faithfull's.

  • @chygwelanmeneth Seekers is my all time favorite group. But I have to agree with you. Marianne Faithful got the perfect touch to this song.

  • u hrad multiple versions of this?where have I been lol

  • A stunning beauty with a voice that even angels will be proud to have in their choir.

  • God, I had forgotten how good they were....either that, or I was too young to realize just how good they were. I want to thank all the people who posted Seekers songs; the YouTube Seeker playlist is just amazing, wonderful music.

  • This was the first song I learned to play on the guitar, taught to me by my girlfriend the summer of '68. I had a crush on her - we were both Astroworld employees that first summer the park opened. We both went our separate ways, but I have never lost my love for this song. I know there are many versions (no wonder, because it is a fantastic song), but I think the Seekers' version is the absolute best. Best folk song ever by the best folk group ever. What else can one say?

  • I learned their songs on my mothers knee and only today discovered these. For the past two hours i have been in some other world. They are the essential beat of our lives from the sixties and always giving us the heart and soul to live on and love.

  • Judith is a one of a kind that will never be repeated. I could easily love her forever.

  • I was off to Vietnam and it was indeed the last thing on my mind. I remember all thoes who never came home and they are alwasy on my mind.

  • @JASVN67 Thank you for your service. Not many of us who came home heard a Thank You - So I thought that you earned one from a brother who was there

  • Music not noise!!!Beautiful!!!

  • Love this band, my sister and I used to do these songs when we were just kids, she always sang the lead and I did harmony with her. After hearing the Seekers again I know I learned from the BEST!

  • Judith has the most Lovely voice in this planet

  • This type of melody songs carry our minds away to unknown destinations..All the voices in this song are wonderfull

  • Good version of a great song. I met Tom Paxton at a bluegrass festival years ago. A very nice man. My favorite version was always by Doc Watson.

  • Long live the mighty Seekers

  • WEHT folk music? Even at Woodstock there were still a lot of folk performers -- then it seemed to disappear overnight...

  • Good but you can't beat the original by the author - Paxton makes it SOUND like a love song.

  • very nice and melodic but listen to Judy Collins version if you want it from the heart.

  • the album sleeve of Come The Days says " come the day perhaps when this collection of songs will mean something magical" (or something like that) what an amazing song/arrangement

  • @dingdangdo81 The album was great when my parent bought in 1966, I have now gow it and I love it.

  • @dingdangdo81 The album was great when my parent bought in 1966, I have now now it and I love it.

  • Love this rendition !!!!!!!!!

  • First time I ever heard this song was by Anne Murray.

  • Probably the finest of Tom's many fine songs.

  • What a gem!! Judith's is so beautiful and a voice that's made in heaven. I'd say that she is the best female singer ever.

  • Just shows, if you love folk you will love Tom Paxton's ditties.

  • The harmonies on the chorus make this song something special.

  • @horacefeathers You're right. The way Judith's voice melds into the voices of the boys is pretty special. I haven't really ever heard anything else quite like it. Another amazing blend occurs on "The Sad Cloud." Just mesmerizing.

  • ….. I could have loved you better, didn't mean to be unkind. Oh, you know that was the last thing on my mind……… The best ever of this version by none other than The Seekers ...

  • oh my thry are good. wished they would play indianapolis before they quit touring

  • Isn't this like one of the greatest harmonic performances ever? I never get tired of this tune. Thanks to Mr. Tom Paxton for writing this classic.

  • Thanks to Dazbluey for posting this brilliant music. Enthusiasm and perfection: The Seekers. I can hardly hear the voice of Judith Durham without emotion.

  • great love

  • Atmospheric music. Great musicians, harmonies, then add Judith, one of the most beautiful and talented singers I have ever known.

  • surely the original sung by Tom Paxton is the best?!

    nice arrangement though :)

  • @beebscooke I love Tom Paxton. As a writer and a singer. Gotta say though, this sure comes close to, if not surpasses the original. It's really a compliment to both The Seekers and Paxton.

  • the Seekers were masters of harmony. no autotune!

  • I ve heard a couple of versions of this song but must agree with coltperc this is the best. Thanx dazbluey for posting and other people for contributing to the best music ever

  • Typical of the Seekers, this is the best version of this song. Definitive. Apologies to Paxton. :-)

  • I will soon be 65 and just love the old songs

  • good night my good mother.

  • I have the LP with the stereo version of this song on it ..took me years to find

  • This is a gorgeous version too, very different from Phil Everly's beautiful version.

  • great Tom Paxton song. The Move version is really definitive, especially live.

  • anothe r gr8 song by the Seekers. Many thx to the seekers & the ppl @ youtube for having the technology so all of us can enjoy this song

  • Wow, what a group!

I've heard many singers perform this song, but this version is by far the BEST. The harmonies and instrumentals here are sheer perfection.

    Thank you for posting.

  • @coltperc Try listening to the version by Jose Feliciano -it's on YouTube now and, once you hear it, you may well think it the best version of this great song

  • @lanotwo Very unique and creative version by Jose Feliciano, a "Willie-Nelson-ish" take on the song. One of many excellent versions of this song.

This Seekers' version grabs the ear, with normal lead singer Judith Durham doing background vocals. Her soaring feminine background vocals really make this version stand out as a unique but highly effective arrangement. Bruce Woodley shows why the Seekers are such a peerless group, stepping in as a superb lead singer here.

  • @lanotwo You know what, I can't pick any "best" version, they're all great....add PP & M, Phil Everly, Judy Collins, even Neil freakin Diamond to the list. The song is such a masterpiece, you and i can make it soar.

  • @tomkesisaperv

Gram Parsons' version is also incredible

  • @awesomesauce87 Thanks for the heads up about a Graham Parson's version.

  • one of my favorites by The Seekers - many thanks dazbluey!

  • Thanks Darren!

  • Wow! The boys can sing too! There is really no end to the Seekers' talent. I LOVE them.

  • Just another outstanding song sung by the best group ever... The Seekers...

There will never be another era of music better then the late 50's 60's folk.....

    Ron Tennessee

  • @moparmtn i could not agree more.wish i was in my teens then now 40---

  • Great Tom Paxton standard brought to life by The Seekers! Musical magic!

  • Great Song!! Not often do you hear one of the guys take the lead vocal. A real Treat! Still their unmistakable sound is present. Thanks for posting!!
