I've left my Atari 2600 plugged over night several times and it still works! I own 3 atari 2600's of my own and the one I always keep plugged in is the Star Wars black model... how different are teh models? My boxed one is 6 switch and teh other two are 4 switched and my bro just bought a boxed 4 switch with about 9 games for 50 USD. I bought mine for 65 USD. My black atari I got it for 89 USD with 100 games.
@jnkproductions9900 yeh someone else posted about that a while back, sorry for that mistake in video it was unintended (harmless), thanx for the correction.
a year ago i vsited a game shop and saw there super nintendo factory sealed with 2 controllers and it was just 3000 rupees ($35) i am planning to buy it but from where can i get super mario world
@voodoo92PS3 hi man!!! I am from Greece and i used to have an atari 2600 when i was little but y brother broke it. Anyway, its a nice piece of working machine!
@MrNintendew Its a light, the Heavy Sixer has rounded edges around the wood grain finish and that one has pointed jagged edges. I have the same console, 33 years later and works with no problems I love it
Great unboxing. I was VERY lucky when I bought my atari 2600 woody. I bought it at a local auction in a pub/club and they started the bidding off for it at £1 and there was only me and another bloke bidding. I ended up getting it for £8 plus 10% com so £8.80!!! All boxed like yours but sadly no games but I have a great collection for it now. Check mine out on my channel.
Leaving your atari 2600 plugged in all night will not damage the console itself. It may however burn out the power supply if you have an original as they did not efficiently vent heat away from the supply. If you open up the atari 2600 and look at the very simple circuit board, you'll see the the tracers are not narrow. They're actually very wide. I think I remember them being like 5mm's wide which is rediculous, and there's very few of these.
The wood finish was because of the tv's that came out back then were also wood finish. The short cords were because those tv's were small and you usually played close to them. I can't remember any 4 player paddle games. The joystick is stiff, and you can't be too aggressive with them or you'll break the plastic ring inside that sits on the membrane switches. I still have a 2600, and the re-release in my basement in a box. The reissue had much better hardware. RF modulators are a pain in the ass.
@wizard10134wifi i mention prices in my video i payed £50 pound for mine off ebay, so be expecting to pay between £30 to £100 depending on the condition.
@wizard10134wifi i got a brand new one mint in the box and hand box for 100 dollars plus 20 games. it wasnt even played and was cool i have played it once tho
@wizard10134wifi it depends on the model you get. the most expensive ones to get are the heavy sixers. the jrs are usually pretty cheap as well as the four switchers. the sears models are also a little on the high end. if you get only the system, it can be anywhere from 20 to 125 dollars depending on the model. if you get it with games, it will cost quite a bit more. i got a vader model with 5 games, 2 joysticks, a paddle set, and all the cables for 70 dollars.
I have an Atari 2600 Darth Vader in mint condition. But some games are a bit snowy/you can see fuzzy lines. Would it make sense if I change the RF-Cable? As far as I know, the RF Cable is just simply plugged in into the mainboard.
@Globi3000 I had a similar problem a few months ago when playing "Space Invaders" it kept cutting out and becoming fuzzy in my case it was the game that was causing the problem. the best thing to do is to do some test find which games have the problem try playing them with a new RF cable if they still are fuzzy then you will know that it is the games, but get a new cable anyway it is always good to have spares of things with these consoles.
@voodoo92PS3 Yes exactly, I tried some games out, for example ''Cosmic Ark'' shows no fuzzy lines at all, perfect picture, but ''Mario bros. arcade'' looks horrible!
And yeah you're right, I should get a new cable anyway, just in case.
@Globi3000 i got the same model and in great condition with 19 games in excellent condition with box and box were you can put the atari in it and atari games for 50 bucks on ebay
LOL. What a waste of money! Why pay £50 for a 30 year old console with crappy graphics and even crappier sound, when you can buy a ps2 for £30 and get 5.1 surround sound and high resolution graphics? It doesn't make any sense! I had an emulator for the atari 2600 and over 500 games. I played about 30 for about 15 seconds each and I would'nt give any of them the time of day! THEY ARE ALL AS BORING AS HELL and samey!! No wonder Atari went bust!! Bin it mate! Not even worth being a doorstop!!
@yogibear2k10 i dont think you appreciate that this was one of the first consoles ever released, so of course the graphics and sound will never be as good as modern games consoles, but if it wasn't for these early consoles we would not be where we are today, also the design of this thing its beautiful (its the definition of retro).
Thanks for the suggestion aswell but i already have a PS2 and i love it and im a bit of a Playstation fanboy.
@yogibear2k10 HAHHAHAHA go play your xbox 360 thats a piece of shit anyway...
Without the Atari 2600, you wouldn't have your xbox....
Apreciate what ya got... this is vintage! Here are the consoles i own : Dreamcast, Nintendo 64, Nintendo Entertainment System , Super Nintendo entertainment system... : D classics : ) *those arent all i have, just the good ones..&
@CloseCastigar I agree with you. The Xbox 360 is a piece of shit. Glad too see you are happy with what you got. Personally, I like the PS2 because I have over 300 games and 95% of them are copies! Its easier to get free games for the ps2 than any other console which is why I love it so! My first ps2 was bought in 2007 and it was chipped!! It still works perfectly! Now got a slimline. Not chipped but still able to play copied games. The games are so much better on the PS2. The PS3 is shit too!!
Yeah, i do have a PS2 with some good stuff, i said that all that sucked to make a point, the 360 does suck ass, i like the PS3 a lil to, i have it, i think they put to much into it, blu-ray , dvd, downloading ps1 games... jeez, make it backwards compatible with the ps1 games...
@CloseCastigar Wouldn't touch the PS3 with a barge pole! Not till the get rid of all the bugs in it! Not sure what you mean about the PS1 games though. My bro's PS3 plays my PS 1 games (originals only of course,) perfectly. Perhaps different models play different versions of games? You are correct. They do put too much in it, thats why they wrong so quickly! This is my brother 5th in 8 months! Still hes happy with it! Blu ray is pointless technology too yet alone being put in a games console!!
@yogibear2k10 The blue ray is a gimmick, like the Wii's motion control, and the Xbox's Kinect and all three of their Netflix capabilities. They didn't get rid of any gameplay abilities for the Blue ray.... and they fix the bugs, they send out patches, so yeah, no game's perfect. The Atari was certainly glitchy as hell.
@willardoward technically you should say Two Thousand six hundred as that is the number, but yes your right, I just think two six hundred sounds better.
Nice to see those JS & paddle boxes as I've never seen those having and still owning 2 2600s since before birth... i.e. 30+ yrs! Must be nice to have a fully boxed system INDEED! :) I was very happy to receive my uncles' 2600 heavy sixer some 6+ months ago and it is very good shape being 30+ yrs old and also our orig sears tele-arcade circa 1981 which I started with.
@Geffersan oh cool i was not sure i just expected it to be made by atari, i had to buy a new one anyway as the tadmore was slightly damaged and was coming loose.
