just so you know thats just a sediment filter and does not remove any chemicals from your water. you would need to buy the sediment/carbon filter to really help your brewing
Nice simple build. Water is one of the most over looked ingredients in brewing. I use a 5 stage RO water system and mine takes about 6 hours to get 14 gallons. I may do this this as a portable solution to traveling brew days. Good job!
Nice set up Chris. I have been thinking about home brewing, but haven't really read much about it yet. I was wondering where I was going to get my water from. A guy I work with used to live and work in Bend, OR by Deschutes. He worked for the Forestry Service and ran tests on their water. Said it was some of the cleanest in the nation coming straight out of the river and that's a huge part of why Deschutes has all around quality beer.
Just an FYI, Item #: 200955 | Model #:29QCGF at Lowes is what I use on my IC for a quick connect to the water hose. Looks like you could use that in place of everything you have on the left side of the filter and save a little $. Nice job!!!
I might do that but Campden tablets seem to be working. It would be interesting to do the same recipe using each type of water treatment to see what the difference would be. Water is probably overlooked for most homebrewers.
@StumpyJoeJr Yeah I use it more for the easy and convenience, the removal of chlorine is just a bonus. It would be interesting to see how water affects the beers. Im willing to be its barely noticeable one or another though haha
Cant wait to see how this turns out. Are you planning on (I would imagine so) tasting the water as it leaves the filter to see if any of that new hose taste comes through? Great video, I may have to build this too as I'm sick of buying bottled water.
The Watts swivel hose adapter part number doesn't exist in Lowe's website. The description pulls up something other than what is shown on your vid. Sure you got that right?
@JakobSchweikart I wish I could say it was my idea but it wasnt haha. Yeah it really helps to speed things up when filling kettles plus it saved a ton of money on bottled water
@slayer544 The beauty of this is how fast you can fill your pots with. I can fill 13 gallons into my kettle in like 2 mins. I just did a homebrew vid where you will see this being used. Cheers!
If you get a quick disconnect for your wort chiller you can use it for that as well.

are you sure that filters out lead which is in the garden hose and brass nipple? it looks like just sediment and chlorine.

@chrislafty Im not 100% but if you wanted to air on the side of caution you could always get a pottable RV hose.
