Unfortunately this approach will never generate enough power to run anything of consequence. U can charge a few batts with it and that's about it. You need some torque man. Electronic switching of electromagnets will yield very good results as I have shown myself. have you tried placing the magnets with, say the north polarity out along the disk then place a couple magnets with the same polarity on the outside like you've done here but angled it so the magnet pushes the others?
There are so many idiots that comment on these videos. I have designed a motor using magnets that can spin as long as the screws can hold the machine to the base. It will spin as long as the magnets life last. I have used the V Gate design and Machine has been running for a week now. depending on how much force the wheel is exerting you can extent the wheels underside in a wave pattern and attach your bobbing magnet to a hinge then as the wheel turns it pushed the magnet up and down. you would need to use items that have the lowest friction possible to make the extension on the wheel some type of metal and possibly some lubrication. his hand is the power supply here, and it's easy to understand why magnet engines can't keep moving under their own power. they all come to a stop because in order to keep moving they'd have to have 100% efficiency, and that's not possible with the friction inherent in a system with moving parts. and even with 100% efficiency it would still be useless, because if you tried to extract energy to power a car or even a light bulb you'd not have enough to keep powering the 100% efficient motor.

@roketm4n Doing so would cause the disk to slow down because it would have to lift the magnet. This would eventually would slot it all down to a dead stop. Gravity is the reason we can't have nice things.

If you look at it at the end, where he leaves it with the 2 magnets on the wheel both attracted to the bar, it would need a cam to push the bar down to start again. The cam would have to push the bar against the force of the two magnets, using the energy generated by the attraction of the magnets.

@aburgheim When you move the magnet through the magnetic field you'll find that it "feels different" than if you were just casually moving your hand through the field, because of the repulsive forces at work. So you increase the amount of force with which you do so, thus overcoming the magnetic repulsion, and by over coming it the wheel is more inclined to move than the magnet in your hand. So the energy in the spinning wheel came from your own muscles. no jedi force neccesary.

his hand is the power supply here, and it's easy to understand why magnet engines can't keep moving under their own power. they all come to a stop because in order to keep moving they'd have to have 100% efficiency, and that's not possible with the friction inherent in a system with moving parts. and even with 100% efficiency it would still be useless, because if you tried to extract energy to power a car or even a light bulb you'd not have enough to keep powering the 100% efficient motor.

@roketm4n Good idea, but I believe that common problem among similar systems is that the energy lost in powering the cam (to lift and lower mag by wheel's power) is more than produced. The wheel would slow down and stop whilst trying to power the magnet that is powering the wheel.

If you look at it at the end, where he leaves it with the 2 magnets on the wheel both attracted to the bar, it would need a cam to push the bar down to start again. The cam would have to push the bar against the force of the two magnets, using the energy generated by the attraction of the magnets.
It's like a magnet being pushed along a table by another magnet which it's attracting towards it. Or as the classic analogy says, grabbing your shoelaces and picking yourself off the ground.

@ottgooroth Science is never about absolutes, only probability. However, the use of magnets in a truly closed system will never reach unity, much less over unity. Without sucking energy from parallel branes or capturing escaping gravitons (assuming HIGHLY theoretical concepts like M theory are true and even have real applications), and even then it is not truly spontaneous. You can never have energy just magically appear. Common sense, not science tells us something does not come from nothing.

@aburgheim When you move the magnet through the magnetic field you'll find that it "feels different" than if you were just casually moving your hand through the field, because of the repulsive forces at work. So you increase the amount of force with which you do so, thus overcoming the magnetic repulsion, and by over coming it the wheel is more inclined to move than the magnet in your hand. So the energy in the spinning wheel came from your own muscles. no jedi force neccesary.

I sugest the use of a software that simulates all your creations.
A good software is Algodoo, (i use it for myself).
With this software you may simulate gravity, magnets, lasers, etc.
When i see a REALLY creative idea, i simulate it in Algodoo and verify if it works, without
having to spend any money buying parts.
Unhappily, most of the ideas i simulate with Algodoo don't work.

The point of any energy gather interaction is to get out more than the activation energy required.
