Nice work, I'll bet the thing sounded more relaxed after all that. I have had trouble with two counterfeit TDA1541 chips from China - you were lucky to find 2 x S1 chips! Great sounding chips in my opinion, that's why I restored and upgraded my Meridian 207 and the Arcam Alpha players. Regards, Mike.
@mikefitzman Hi, yes the sound was amazing!!! I sold it some months ago, but i still have one left :) A recommendation... don't buy TDA1541 chip's from china!!! It have to be nos (new old stock) or used chip's. I buy units and desolder them myself to be sure they'r not fake !
@fragglan You are absolutely right, I learned the hard way. One of my TDA's was bought from a large national electronics wholesaler who themselves had been sold a load of duds/fakes by a Chinese vendor! That one pulled a power supply rail to ground and burned out a resistor in the Alpha 5!!!
